I spent a lot of time building my team, getting all the rare arks etc & if they were to scrap the game, I have no reason to buy their future games too. Don’t want the same thing to happen again…
There were a lot of promises & words said before that haven’t been implemented…
Saying that though, I don’t regret playing this game, just wouldn’t have spent the time I did if I knew it was going this way…
That’s how I feel as well. I sacrificed time I could have spent doing my own programming work to help them out and they’re just throwing it all away now.
I’m quite upset at their decision. I asked Ryan way at the beginning if they planned on keeping it updated, and how long they planned to.
If he would have told me that they would have ended it so fast, I’d have quit before I got started. What did he actually tell me? He told me they plan to keep it updated for a [long] time _ provided _ it’s successful. Which it is.
It has nothing to do with the money that I’ve spent on the game (both buying it, and the eggs). Buying eggs was obviously optional, and the game itself has given us way more value than the 99p that it cost, but rather the amount of time I’ve spent playing it and collecting rares etc.
Unless this progress carries over in a satisfactory way, or this game is continued, for at least a decent time frame then I won’t be buying the next game either. Hunter Island has been very successful, and to ditch it so soon would make no sense. There’s so many possibilities or ways that they can continue this game, whilst also making money from it. For example I’m sure almost everyone that plays it would pay another 99p for a ‘new’ storyline add-on.
I’ve really enjoyed this game, but I won’t be buying the next one if this is just going to be left to die already.
What’s to say the next one won’t suffer the same fate?
This game has so much potential, I find no reason for them not to continue expanding it. This is the ONLY game on my iphone that has kept me interested for more than a day. In fact, it has kept me playing since December. Seriously, so much potential in this game… especially in the PvP aspect.
99 cents for this application is more than worth it.
To be honest I doubt they’ll even read this topic. Maybe send private messages - at least they get notified by email when a private message is sent to them.
Events: We are looking into adding different types of events to create a more varied and entertaining experience. A lot of the ideas we are considering were given to us on the forums. Thank you to all those who contributed.
This to me says that they aren’t thinking of abandoning the game.
They likely won’t just “abandon” it, just like that. What’s going to happen is we’re going to get really slow updates because they’re spending most of their time on their new game. As soon as the new game comes out, though, don’t expect much more for this game.
I see people are getting more annoyed. DIB took a long time to update aswell. But do remember they said this update was submitted in december so it should be here soon. No wait they never sent that did they? Ok so were waiting on them to decide to update the game. One thing is for sure this will be my last game i buy from them and support with IAP. Patience only goes so far. Not nearly the end of february and still no update to fix the problems which infuriate the majority.
“Fell apart” is probably not the most accurate term. Just shut down, I suppose. Apparently their company was sold to Yahoo!, and Yahoo! decided to discontinue it. I believe they had plenty of ways to earn income, and I was pretty tempted to spend money on it too even when I usually don’t do IAPs.
But that’s beside the point.
Yeah, I think a lack of money probably wouldn’t be the reason why Hunter Island would be shut down. Maybe if they did have a new game and they needed to shift their attention on to it or something. I don’t know, I’m not a developer haha.
And maybe they did send the update, Templarzx, and then canceled it when they realized they had to recode. But quite frankly I don’t know, I will never know, and I’m just saying this for the sake of exploring all possibilities. Pessimism only goes so far, too. Complain as you want, as you are their customer, but I’m not sure why people are complaining on the forums when they can just email or PM the devs.
It’s just my gut feeling the update will not come earlier than Easter. Last time when we were waiting on DIB, they’ve saying they were trying their best but the fact was they put most of their attention to HI, so even after half a year late, the update made the game crash two out of three times?? Obviously they didn’t pay attention to that obvious glitch… So I doubt they will do that much better this time!
If the devs notice this, they can help a lot by just specifying their schedule so nobody would be so frustrated…
I think it would be beneficial for the the developers to give some update on the update. I have stopped all expenditures awaiting some indication that the game has not been abandoned. Pvp is basically dying and something needs to be done. Another game I played matched you with teams with comparable strength. New players of HI can feel at a very significant disadvantage when going against OM arks outside of their ability to acquire. Perhaps instead of moving up to more advanced leagues with 3 consecutive wins, Pvp opponents should be matched by the total number of stars for all 15 arks. This encourages the heavy hitters to use some of the arks that they normally wouldn’t use. It gives additional strategy to pvp and allow new player without the OMs to compete without feeling they are completely outclassed. I have a lot of lower level arks that I would love to try out but do not because of the competitive disadvantage in the masters league. To encourage advancement to stronger pvp teams, the number of diamonds for a win or loss should increase by the power of your team. I have a lot of arks that I would love to experiment with but in the master level as it is currently I would be creamed.
The mods have asked me to decrease negativity in my posts. It is getting very difficult to do considering the current situation.
If you’re making an effort, we can’t really blame you. I’m not as frustrated as some of y’all because I don’t play PvP or do the OM, and therefore the only thing I would want is post game features. Which I can wait for, since the single-player game is pretty balanced. Multiplayer is not, and that’s why I’m so… not-upset. I just don’t play the stuff the problems are in, so I can’t really say anything about that.
Having that said, I can’t have a good say in this discussion. I’m just trying to reassure people. Imagine mods going around telling people that HI’s gonna shut down, that the update won’t ever come, and that the devs abandoned us. What would that make it better?
