Hunter Island Fix and New Game:

You never want to give time frames. As a programmer myself, I’ll tell you that you rarely ever get the time right if you make an estimate. (Granted, you do improve with your estimates as you gain experience, but I wouldn’t really count on it).

There is no reason they shouldn’t come in even once every few days and post how things are going - what they finished, what they’re working on. It takes hardly any time. And if it’s too much time for them, then they should get someone to do it for them.

Agree on that. But i also think that post how things are going , sometimes helps to keep people calm. Giving hope, sometimes is enough. Don’t forget that we are costumers, not followers.

Yes, that’s why I’m saying that they should certainly interact with the community a lot more than they currently do. It’s one thing I know more than anything, interacting with the customers is HUGELY important. It’s crucial. To me, it’s just as important as the programming is.

Really sorry. I red " there is no reason they SHOULD come in even once etc…"   so I totally agree.

I hope the update comes before March

How’s it going to stop cheaters ? I mean people are gonna find a way to hack it which ruins the game …

Cheaters are easy to be stopped, timers is a different issue…

I agree they used to interact with the community a lot in chat before the game came out.

Think you have that backwards.

Lol

If you were a dev would you want to get into chat right now? You would just get hammered with questions about when the update was coming.

We interacted a lot more before the game was out because we were doing beta here  Im usually on chat when the event goes live so you can catch me then!

The problem with that is that everyone is practically rushing to beat the event :stuck_out_tongue:

I am going to be honest here and say that when I started played HI I was not particularly…excited. It was after I finished playing DIB and this game was based on exactly the same mechanics - which were a bit too simplistic for my taste. I know this is heavy criticism given that it’s a $1 game but still, this is important as it relates to my next point. Since it is a $1 game, I say it’s logical that it shouldn’t have a long lifespan. You can’t really make a game like Pokemon these days anymore and expect it to have a devout fanbase for decades; it’s impossible. There’s many factors which make Pokemon unique from any game nowadays. One of the most important is that it was the first or one of the first of it’s kind to be released, along with being released in a different era, when games were just starting to become popular and didn’t come out in such huge numbers. It was also played on different medium (gameboy platform) and had a much, much bigger budget. Sorry to shatter any dreams but this game is not going to last long. I know many kids probably play this game so they weren’t even around when Pokemon Red and Blue came out (well actually I started playing Pokemon only after Yellow was released), believe me it was different times. How many games have been released since then which are clones or mimic Pokemon? Anyway, just to keep it short, I’m all in for the new game and I think that’s the right trend. Focusing on this game would be a wrong idea, since the only viable design that works for it would require re-coding most of it to make it more like sandbox (skyrim, fallout 3, runescape, etc.).

As for longevity of the new game, they said the new game is going to be a cross between HI and Monster Rancher. What that means is 2 things: 1. it’s definitely not robot based, 2. If it has similar mechanics as MR, then it will have longer lifespan than HI.

I think developers can make a game successful as long as they want it to be, regardless of whether it’s sandbox based or not. I’m not into this whole idea of short-lasting games and all that. As a game developer, I’m going to show that it doesn’t have to be that way. Tired of hearing such nonsense. Games only die when the developers screw up or let them die. We can always make them better in such a way to where more players want to join (even if it means making a new game and transferring progress over to it - as long as progress isn’t lost, I’ll count that as being as acceptable as one game that lasts a long time.)

Thats what I’ve been thinking why they don’t come on chat anymore because they’ll get attacked and I understand as you’ve also kinda gotta be professional type thing.

Actually, a tad bit wrong in that aspect

They’ve been busy (and have admitted that they let the forum and their duties to it fall to the wayside). Can’t really blame them for that.

I think more people were angry that there was no response but now they’re working on fixing that.

Gotta give them credit for that

I hope it’s like monster rancher

What’s monster rancher???

Monster rancher is a monster training sim where you can put your monsters through different training to train diffferent stats.

We are combining that aspect with monster capturing and evolving elements (as in pokemon). I think HunterEdik is right, Hunter Island, because there is an “ending” a lot of people just quit there. I think we address that issue in the next game though.
