Are we experiencing a power creep?

Think about the likes of delugazer .

Is the game adding powerful monsters n abilities too frequently?

What do you guys think ?

Can someone also please share a screenshot of the tier list 2years ago

And please don’t bring f2p and P2p stuff into this discussion.

Power creep : The introduction of more powerful units or abilities, leaving the older ones underpowered.

Yes, we obviously have power creep. I mean, they literally introduced a whole new type of monsters with better stats and better moves than any of the old monsters.

True :100:

Then why did you ask?

Do you think it’s too frequent ?

Finally someone says it, in my opinion before we are doing nerf threads I think we need a massive thread of buff for the old monsters to catch up

Just want to hear what other people think

Yep.

Absolutely :100: old monsters need to be buffed.

This was updated, kd took on the role of updating it.

Delugazar is one of the supreme bosses in History and without a doubt he is still very good, but I think that he has stopped being that King next to the youngest

Yeah he no longer seems reliable in pvp.

The devs should reduce the SS cost of a lot of legendaries. It makes no sense that an awakened focalforce should cost the same as half the legendaries in my team.

Power creep is real

I think that the devs are doing it so that people would spend more money on gems to roll for them. This would obviously result in something bad in the future but I do hope that it’s not too bad. In terms of old monster buffs, there are a few that could use some honestly, but I don’t think that the devs would want to do that to every single one and since thats the case, allow the monsters that dont get those buffs to be easier hatched for noobs or so.

Fire Emblem Heroes does very this nicely.

Most weapons have a refine, which consists in forging an upgrade for your weapon that enhances its base effects and adds another special effects. Weapon refining, though, was implemented in the game over a year after the beginning of the game, though.

Basically, once every update, they give one of the old units a refine, update old refines or create upgraded version of passive skills for powercrept units.

To give you an example, I’ll show you the case of a flying unit, called “Ryoma”, a very underwhelming one.
He had a weapon called Raijinto and a passive skill called Bushido.

Two updates ago, they made his Raijinto give him a buff to all stats when in proximity of an ally or when initiating combat, plus an effect that neutralizes a bunch of enemy passives.
Also, they introduced Bushido 2, which permanently boosted damage dealt and reduced damage received from all sources

The result? Ryoma became a meta unit over one update. Keep in mind, this was a unit released over two years ago, which means basically everybody could have access to him. This is just the most recent case, but it happened TONS of times.

The balance team needs to be less stingy when buffing older units. I was very let down when I saw Rexotyrant, Kamishogun, Warca and Bazilogon’s buffs. They didn’t address the powercreep issue at all!!

On the other hand, Tridrakhan received a simple yet significant buff, which made it greatly more useable. Same for Raizen (last year) and Snowhulk.

Umm but that’s literally one of the main drives of power creep?? If you buff everything up it just pushes it harder!

Just looking at the top of that…

S+ 2019 vs 2021:
Total number 15 to 13
10 dropped down (half through re-evaluation, half from power creep)
4 existing monsters came up to it (3 from buffs - Alba, Raizen, Tricra)
4 new monsters entered it

S 2019 vs 2021:
Total number 15 to 23
1 went up (Novadrake)
10 dropped down (7 from re-evaluation, 3 from power creep)
13 existing monsters came to it (3 from buffs - Regalion, Leogeist, Pola)
6 new monsters entered it

So now the question is… How many legendaries have come out since August 2019?

The answer is 45. So out of 45 there were 10 that came into S and S+ tier.

In 2019 I had just under 1/5 of the legendaries in S and S+ combined. These days it’s 1/5.5 in S and S+ combined so roughly similar.

Hence, we’d expect from 45 / 5.5 = 8.2 of the new legendaries to be in the top two tiers. We’ve got 10 so there’s a small argument for power creep but it’s not a huge sign.

What I find interesting is there’s nearly as many monsters going into the top tiers from buffs than there are new powerful monsters coming to the game. It shows that there are some significant buffs happening over time to older monsters.

If I were to go through the every tier you’d see a similar story… the monsters are quite nicely split across the tiers. They are, on average, a bit higher each year but only by a small amount. What probably feels like power creep is that the general power level of teams in PvP has risen a lot as over time. There are more and more monsters which are worthy of high tier simply by the number of monsters increasing and people typically have a larger collection of top tier monsters.
