twig was always used when the top players were using protectors as soon as the top players removed the protectors he got removed. As soon as the top players will play protectors he will come back.
it only made the game fast sweepers + pots which made the game brain dead any slow fl is at the mercy of them.
Actually I struggled after AP spam too. My team simply countered it and gave me my highest ever ranking. Once AP spam was gone I realised that now I was feeling the effects of the TT nerf because I didn’t know what to run
I know one or 2 isn’t AP spam. But running One or Two in your team doesn’t pose much risk. I’m trying to distinguish between spam getting hammered and one or two protectors being viable, which is my point
Twig has zero value other than protector killing. Searguard is also faster as mentioned above. On top of that, twiggy can’t use guardian execute with a friendly protector on the field with him. If you put a restriction like this where you can’t have any stun protection on your team on your ‘kill a stun immune/convertor/counter and get a turn’, go for it
Yeah… honestly no idea when it happened, but apparently Lavamane has the same restriction too. Could’ve sworn it was unlimited upon his release. Btw I honestly feel like limiting it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, since you can’t really create infinite rocks anyway.
Anyway… I don’t think slow strats are necessarily dead. A well timed protector can easily grind enemy advance to a halt, or perhaps a sleeper ignored for too long. Hard counters can occasionally be overcome if you have the right resources to put a stop to it.
I mentioned flawed to acknowledge what you were saying. A closer comparison would be to have a monster that executes all Taunt monsters. But that will be flawed and innacurate as well. Because taunt has not been anywhere near as a staple in this game from what seems like day 1 and there isn’t isn’t anywhere near as much Taunt monsters as protectors.
To create a move that wipes the crap out of all Protectors like Twiggy is an overreaction to the problem AP spam was. Incredible how the devs reacted, it actually funny.
The point I agree with in the analogy is that it isn’t balanced to have something counter something else so incredibly.
I’ll compare it to Nulls execute. It sounded like a complete counter to token monsters when. Released. One might think that at first. But it has a lot of limitations
If the token monster has shield it’s screwed. (This happens a lot it’s a common scenario)
If the token monster has Hold Ground it’s screwed
If the token monster is not a special summoned one it’s often screwed as well.
Twiggy is virtually unstoppable. This is not a balanced design for a monster.
If you aren’t convinced I’ll speak in a hypothetical scenario now. Presume I completely agree that Twiggy is balanced for wiping out Auto-protectors the way it does regardless if they are 1 star monsters or future released GOD level Auto protectors that are 10 stars…
I would still disagree with it being able to vaporize ANY monster with a protect MOVE…
Surely you don’t think monsters with protect moves were part of the AP spam problem? We always referred to it as “AP” spam. Isn’t that going to far to nerf them as well? Heck at the very least they could have limited the nerf to Auto-protectors…I don’t think it’s sensible to say the entire nerf was balanced. I like a lot of things with the nerfs. But they simply went to far. It’s Overkill. A kill would have been enough. If I remember correctly people were calling for the RNG to be removed. They stupidly kept the RNG and went ballistic on the rest. They continue to release monsters that counter Protectors it’s hilarious. The new mythic is another example. It doesn’t even matter now they are just kicking a dead horse.
I would have removed RNG and it would have been problem solved.
But to be safe It would have been fine to:
Allowed sneak attack to bypass protectors.
Made Duscy RAW.
Made RAW moves bypass shields and Hold Ground on Protectors only.
In fact, when I saw the new water myth monster yesterday, I realized that ap Spam and protecters ware just living in a glorious past. They won’t appear again.
You are talking a lot about AP’s but what about monsters with Protect moves?
Do you think it was sensible to nerf monsters with “protect moves”?
Were you not the person that agreed with me that the problem was the RNG? All of a sudden you “think the devs did a great job”
You mention that they solved the RNG issue. News flash THEY DIDNT. My stealth bane is still not guaranteed to hit the biggest problem of AUTO Protectors Stag…
My Chrono killer will not Hit Titan all the time…the RNG is still there.
Only certain “moves” have had the RNG removed. It’s like the devs didn’t nerf it enough in one area and nerfed it way too much everywhere else…
Answer me with a straight face now:
Do you think it was necessary for them to nerf a monster like Saber? Really? Was that needed after they already killed Protectors?
It’s not sensible to say the entire nerf was balanced. They went too far.
It is unfortunate that honest protectors got caught in the crossfire… but I feel like it just would’ve been really awkward and way too on the nose for a skill to come out that specifically targets APs, and not normal protectors. I still think both will get by okay, they’re just forced to be more reserved than usual.
Also unfortunate that they didn’t quite remove all the targeting rng… it really sucks that moves that aren’t specifically meant for targeting protectors are still subject to AP rng. I’m agreed with you on that one, wish it could’ve gone away entirely.
What about Saber? Did he need to get nerfed? I mean I don’t even care now but just making the point they went too far.
That what my meme was about. It’s not against an AP spam nerf. It seems like my meme triggered some people yet they won’t admit that the word “Overkill” was an accurate description of what the devs did. Just kill the AP spam meta don’t overkill all Protectors…
Move protect and AP plus didnt need a nerf. Targeting those were both too far.
The community didn’t give a D to the amn about the absolute (move and +). It was the APsolute that was APgravating and needed some predictable rules.
Instead they passed go and didn’t collect $200.
IOW we just wanted the RNG removed. Instead they killed an essential aspect of the game.
Any mon with protect focus needs to just have that changed to taunt at this point. Grovo would probably be better off with that anyway because I think they were unfairly affected. Not like anyone used Tezla or the green guy who’s name I can’t think of, or any of the other SE’s with that move prior to the nerf anyway
