The Curious Case of Padrinorca

You know when I first created this thread, I saw it as a way of opening a discussion. But with all the recent threads popping up, I feel like I created a monster

Man don’t be so biased…

If Orca were nerfed what would be your WR then… Come on dude you’re better than that!!!

I’m pretty sure either way he’d still have a super high winrate, or at least in ranked pvp when he isn’t testing teams.

That’s my point :roll_eyes::roll_eyes: if instant true hit is nerfed his WR will be something crazy like 90 there would be no stopping for that team it’s the ultimate protection spam it’s only missing plumelisk and it’s all done

oh I see what you mean but didn’t lemon say that it was very good but not game breaking?

Imo it’s potentially game breaking believe me there’s just not enough people out there with the tools or skill to use it but if the few ones that can pull it off were using it oh boy that would be nerfed somehow right in the next update :joy::joy::joy:

I have no doubt that Padrinorca is an S+ monster for PvP. However, it’s definitely not broken so doesn’t really need a nerf.

Both these ideas (1 + 2) completely spoil the point of Padrinorca. It’s meant to hit AROUND protectors. Removing raw from the main moves means it won’t do this. If the secret skill was changed to wall breaker then, once again, it is killing the protector rather than punishing it by hitting around it.

I can’t remember what idea(s) I wrote in a past thread but if it really had to be nerfed I think the two ways that best suit it are:

  1. Instant true hit → Swift true hit (30TU / 50TU)
  2. Raw slayerbane → Raw stun killer (50TU)

The first option just slows down the true hit attack, making it less oppressive and not a free way to remove a shield / kill something on HG instantly.

The second option removes the very powerful fail-case move so it simply punishes certain types of monsters and needs there to be one otherwise it can’t do much. It may need to rely more on bloodcrave too, killing itself off. This would be the very serious nerf and would probably upset a lot of people who hatched it, but the monster would still be good.

But like I said… I don’t think it’s too bad and I’m so happy AP spam has been pushed out of the meta for now.

As i suggested in the original orca nerf thread imo what it’s wrong about the design is Stun Immunity (it already has camo which is a soft counter to stun so why make immune in top of that) and maybe only maybe make it’s RAW skills TU the same as the original skills but that’s it.

Holy fā˜…ck (frick) yes! Why does this almost never get mentioned as an issue? 50sec on such a hard to stop monster is stupid! Its moves’ durations should be in line with the RAW restriction and therefore 70sec.

Of course there is!!! We have a bunch of mediocre players or players who don’t want to get out of their comfort zone who want it nerfed!!! Get good dude Orca it’s a perfect counter to the team your were running when it was released and let me tell you as a player who always run some protector counter in my FLs your team was still OP as ā– ā– ā– ā–  the only way to deal with it imo is with a full ap/poison counter team which will be awsome against yours but probably crap against all else. Just get over already with your AP/Poison spam era and TRY SOMETHING NEW FOR GOD’S SAKE!!!

My 2 suggestions are exclusive of the other if stun immunity gets removed it keeps the low TU and the other way arround…

Of course, imagine the uprising in the community if both nerfs were applied. But the 50sec thing is just so blatantly pointless that it’s just stupid. I’d gladly leave it with its Stun Immunity as long as his moveset isn’t an apparent manifestation of powercreep anymore.

also the reason his winrate is only 75% is because of testing teams

One of the things that make Padrinorca so over the top is how hard it is to find stun protection that doesn’t die to it, as I’ve said here:

Giving it Stun Killer would reduce the number of Orca-safe stun protection to 2: Bloomluga and Plumesilisk (which I hadn’t counted at the time because it was so new). That wouldn’t solve anything, it would just replace an issue with another.

Lmao this escalated quickly.

I’m not too sure what you’re getting at. I don’t feel biased. Someone said protectors are dead and recently someone said in another thread protectors are just dead weight, so I wanted to say they’re not that’s all.

If you scroll back, I did suggest a light nerf in true hit having instant removed. But Orca is gold to come across with my Lock team, so I really don’t mind either way

Well as a f2p player and one that just started out like 3-5 months ago, I don’t have a lot of legendaries (why isn’t this a word in the English dictionary yet?!). If I knew pandrinorca was coming, I’d delete and start over, because most of my Legs are poison monsters.

I’m rank 87 and I fight him like 60-70% of the time, when I do, 7 of my monsters get nuke in 3 mins. I don’t like the idea of nerfing alot, since people love their new teams and stuff. This means that the DEVS should really test these monsters against the whole monster Dex, instead of sending them in game after a few tests .I don’t think that they keep f2p players in mind when making these new monsters (or lets just say upcoming players) .

The best thing I’d suggest to do is change instant true hit to swift true hit.

Sure you have a max cost to counter that, but all you pro’s need to do is add your rockoid series.
I pay really close attention in battle and this would really help if he gets at least a 30tu KILL.

Even that might be too little IMHO.
Developers, look at your monster skills before sending them in and please don’t forget that majority of your player base is F2P.

I think something like that is along the right lines too. I don’t think it really needs a nerf, but if it did, something like that would be perfect because it doesn’t nerf it into oblivion.

For the record I don’t even have it lol, but it seems a lot of the community has issues with it.
