Decided to give this another shot. We’ve certainly come a long way with helping old, forgotten monsters back into the spotlight, but there’s still a few more that could certainly use some attention. Will try to keep things a bit simpler this time around, y’all know the deal. Throw out your suggestions for what could be changed as well as what monsters should be added or removed, and I’ll make whatever changes sound reasonable. Other mods and admins feel free to make whatever changes you see fit. Will branch out to mythics and epics as well as legendaries and SEs.
Mythics
Asmodia
Problems: Whip is clearly meant to be her main tool… but besides being a rather unsettling innuendo, it’s a downright pathetic move. The damage blows, generally requiring 2 hits to kill, sorta undermining its claim to fame of having less TU. With her privilege of a free turn, she can either hit someone hard enough to make them cry, or hope there’s either an angel type or a straggler that can bow out. If not, she can just skip around and wait for the inevitable chrono/toxic killer to claim her. Poison storm certainly doesn’t help a whole lot on the first turn either, since toxic entrance is already a thing(as SSs go, won’t lie, this one’s not particularly enticing). There’s no way a full blown mythic should be this prone to total impasse.
Ideas:
- Increase damage on Whip. Like, really increase it.
- (DevilsMisfortune) reapply TU restriction to Whip, but attach to the beginning of the match rather than the user’s first turn
- (DevilsMisfortune) change SS to purity killer or Toxic Retreat
Legendaries
Cryokaizer/Sanctallion
Problems: Inefficient, ineffective, just generally doesn’t get much done. Assist just doesn’t pack the punch it used to, and stun cloning shenanigans aren’t going to get you far in this day and age either. Clone and attack boost are a pretty big time sink when you’re expected to wreak havoc as soon as possible, and ELEM healing’s TU is wayyy too high to justify prioritizing it.
Ideas:
- Replace Assisted single with a more robust attack, such as Piercing blow
- (xcheemax) Reduce the TU of ELEM Healing
Cyclozar(S)
Problems: WAY overboard on the TU. High speed piercing on a significant portion of the meta is quite nice, but for nearly triple the TU of the normal killer moves? That’s just cruel.
Ideas:
- Reduce TUs of all 4 moves to 130, or at least 160
- Add Stun Immunity
The Godfeather/Dragaia
Problems: These 2 numbskulls need no introduction. Last Bite has lost its, ahem… bite throughout the years, not countered by poison or sleep so much as the mere progression of overall power. Assisted attacks are also a relic of the past, nowhere near enough to support a moveset on their own. Perhaps what they need is a whole new asset…
Ideas:
- Allow Last Bite to be used non critically, for a small amount of damage
Mulasem
Problems: Slow, lacks kill power, and wildly unpredictable. He essentially simultaneously repulses and heals himself every time he uses a move, which can easily throw team order into chaos. I believe the concern the devs could have with him being too fast is that if the enemy doesn’t have enough strength bring him down, he can essentially just heal forever; but like, c’mon, any pvp team worth its salt is gonna have some source of critical damage at the ready as often as possible.
Ideas:
- Stat overhaul, increase both attack and speed at the expense of defense
Rexotyrant/Kamishogun
Problems: They’ve gotten several care packages over the years, but still feel kinda underwhelming compared to other sweepers?
Ideas:
- Replace Sudden Death with Accelerate or Cannibalize/Backstab
- Make Sudden Death unable to hit the user
Super Epics
Caniswyrm
Problems: Too many gimmicks and too little substance. The lock n load thing is a nice gesture, but it only adds to the mess; load isn’t guaranteed to even target a mortar ally, and really, whatever you need him for there are better options. KBN? Use Jackal. Protect? Use Fluffurious, Bull, or perhaps an AP. He just tries to do so many things at once, but can’t reliably make any of it happen. What I think he really needs is something genuinely impactful that can serve as a reason to deliberately seek him out, with all the gimmicks being a nice additional resource.
Ideas:
Captain Canine
Problems: One of the sorriest excuses for a monster I’ve ever seen. RAW bloodcrave is nice and all… but he only has one skill that can charge it. And he can’t use said skill on his first turn. What’s he got to do in the meantime? Repent. Just… repent. No real synergy with any of his moveset at all, and way too situational for the role it’s expected to play. And not even enough TU to satisfy Show of Power! And as if that wasn’t enough he has the notoriously abusable stun revenge to top it off. Sure, you might eventually pull off show of power, assuming you still have an ideal target available, and that there isn’t a converter or counter ready to punish you for it. Then you can sweep I guess. But C’mon man… just use Galv or Ahui. They’re simpler, more efficient, and more versatile. My vote’s for a COMPLETE rework for this guy.
Ideas:
- (Phantom00) Replace Gigaflux with a more threatening move (Counter Strike/Kinslayer/Slayerbane)
- (Phantom00) Remove TU restriction on Show of Power
- (Phantom00) Replace Stun Revenge with Single Stun Revenge
Devilborg
Problems: Doesn’t do enough. Requiring link just to get 3 rocks seems awfully harsh for an event SE(just look at ahuizard). Sacrifice heal is fine enough move as part of a set, but it is NOT gonna carry him alone all the way until survivor’s charged. Carapace ain’t doing much to address the issue either. He needs something to do.
Ideas:
Hiberzor
Problems: Not as god awful as he used to be, piercing blow really does pack a fair punch, and coupled with that speed… still, without the attack power Infernicorn boasts it just isn’t enough to save him. Sweet Dreams still holds the honor of the most pathetic move I have ever seen in this game(eat your heart out, old stunstrike), and Diredemon is vastly superior in the random sleep department.
Ideas:
- Make Sweet dreams wake up the targeted ally(possibly some stat buffs too?)
- Make Sleep Roulette unable to put Hiberzor to sleep(but still not sleep immune)
- Lower the TU of Sleep Roulette to 50
- Lower the TU of Sweet dreams to 50
Epics
Cloning biters
Members: Bossbear, Staghulk, Gigarex, Thugturkey
Problems: This always felt like the one epic breed that really just doesn’t seem to have a clear purpose. Unlike the cloning stunners, there’s no deterrent from killing the clones… only a considerable motivator in the form of desperate bite. Just one weak little attack’s all it takes to neutralize the only real threat he poses. What’s the original gonna do, anyway? Stand there menacingly in his little personal cloud, hoping he’ll somehow take just the right amount of health?
