Stego

Now you see my problem

We can go over hundreds of times how the Devs are notoriously bad at communication.

Nothing has been a lie, just a lack of a “Hey, sorry, the updates getting delayed again because XX”

Heck, even passing it along to the mods and having us post it would make life easier

Something with stunskin gets killed. Something with Volatile gets killed. What then?

Saphieron isn’t worth the dirt that it sits on. It’s incredibly situational, and when stunning is not even used, it’s a waste of space. I agree that it has its uses, but nobody would willingly put Saphieron on a commonly used PvP team. At least they SHOULDN’T.

False. If SS uses scapegoat then timestrike can still kill it, depending on the rest of the arks and exactly when SS uses it. Plus, knockback+Stun+BA can still happen. Granted, as soon as something such as a Raioh, Don Penguini, etc. comes up, then the stun-victim can make a comeback.

Not true. It was Shadowstalker by then (unless my dates were messed up). Stegospike came about in late 2013. I remember using Stego+Charca in november, when nobody really even knew about it on the forums…oh, good times…then it got popularized. Grrr.

No. Charcalynx, depending on the circumstances, may not even kill something at all. Plus, it’s weak as heck. A smart player can get rid of it first, and a smarter player can recover after suffering from one. If you can’t win a battle with 6-8 arkadions, then you’re doing something wrong. Play smarter.

A full flash/stun team is foolish. That was something that was DECENT in late november. It’s become completely irrelevant now; it just flat out doesn’t work.

Nope. Just stop. That was the worst thing you could possibly say. I’ll call you out for that right now. Anyone who doesn’t think in this game won’t do well at all.

Nobody said anyone was unbeatable. Ashley was hailed as the No. 1 PvP player for a while. I’ve beaten her several times, my normal arks vs her unreleased arks. At the time, guardiron, cryowyrm, octoneer, scorpsy, golgemios, cyberwyrm, ironheart, etc. weren’t in the game. EVERYONE’S beatable. And Crystal knows that.

They’re OP when they’re not weak. Foolish sentence, right? Well it’s true. If you LET them set it up, they’ll be OP. If you play smart, they’re weak.

Raioh, SOMETIMES Chopperbug. That’s it. 7+ isn’t that low, mind you.

Right, but that’s ONLY because most of the people use it. If you look at the individual people without those teams and find their win/loss ratio WITHOUT DCs and the likes, you’ll be pleasanylu surprised.

This player speaks the truth.

BA will be capped. So your concerns will not go unaddressed~

Solution: HAKUNA MATATA

Honestly I’m at the point now where if I face a team with stego in it, I force close the app the second he shows up. Just to keep the satisfaction of victory away from the player.

They still receive a win if you force quit.

I know that…I would assume it to be less gratifying getting a win off a disconnect. That was my point.

Not really. It gives them a quicker win and quicker ways to climb the ranks and head for Kami.

Gah! Whatever. I face someone with stego I quit, plain and simple. I don’t care if it gives them quicker wins. It’s just a game, if someone needs to spam an op lineup just to be good then it’s not worth my time to face them.

I’d agree with you.
Those kinds of matches generally take too long to be fun.
It’s almost more gratifying to quit, and find a more sporting opponent. Unless you’re confidant you can kill it, that’s the most gratifying.

Just remember, it’s not the lineup that’s OP. Only Stego.

Exactly my friend, although most likely if stego is on the team so will other op monsters, such as charlynx, shadow stalker, mine spider or any other monster with stun.

The Stego/Charc, and heavy stun teams are slowing losing popularity, thankfully.
The combo you should watch out for now is Grem/Stego/Octo. Setup right, it’ll take down sets of 3 pretty reliably.

Best suggestion I can give you is Scramble. Scramble Scramble Scramble!
Most people aren’t expecting a Mechadino after Chopperbug. They’ll kill Chopper, get stunned, and get Scrambled from Dino.
If they don’t immediatly go for Chopper, odds are they’re not packing serious stun.
Put a Chopper in slot 4, Dino in 5.

With the exception of Shadowstalker (There is no good answer to Scapegoat, but Garudahawk hurts pretty good), I don’t feel those other monsters are too OP. Minespider and Charc are pretty weak unless protected. Beastbane and Metal Slash will do wonders. Arkwing and Omega can one-shot them both, too.

Charcalynx is useless unless it gets a kill. Its defense is terrible and its attack does next to nothing.

That’s very true.

I think the trouble with it really, is that it’s TU is too low for it’s attack.
If it gets a kill (operative word here is IF), it’s faster than anything new coming in, which is a bad design flaw, and boring to play against.

I do like the idea of Bloodthirst, though. It just needs to be slower so opponents have a chance to react, or have 0 defense when active so any damage will kill it.

I think that raising it, however, would make it utterly useless. The point of the ark was to be quick enough to get off attacks before the next ark came in; however with the flawed system in BA’s and with Stego running rampant, the potential for abuse exponentially skyrocketed.

Were Stego not present, the TU wouldn’t be an issue. Were BA’s not present, Stego would be less of an issue (but still an issue) whereas the TU would only cause problems when Stego was paired with Charcalynx.

It all comes down to Stego (obviously) being extremely overpowered.

Excellent point.

Stego, and the BA mechanic are the root issue for sure.

Although, I’ve seen some pretty unique lineups featuring Charc, hasters, and some Stasis thrown in that really make a mess of a match. I’m guessing those folks didn’t have a Stego, but it was working pretty good.
Very similar to Terrorfish/Stasis teams I’ve seen out there, just killing one at a time instead of three.

Charc may not be overpowered, but it’s a little broken. When 3 arks can destroy half or more of a team, there’s something wrong.

Shadowstalker chopperbug terrorfish Mossgolem can do that… Not seeing the problem with them. But considerin the new arks out, it may not work as well as it used to.

I used to run a charc team myself. I believe it was rooknight Mossgolem vegitiger shadowstalker raijin charc. Rooknight was gland slam to weaken and vegitiger doest normally ohko, so it worked great. Charc isn’t too op though, i agree that the problem lies in stego. The thing is, charc will most likely never have a chance to tailwind after killing arks, or it will and will be killed rather quickly.

You do make some great arguments.

That’s 4 Arks.
Nitpicking aside, Scapegoat, Endbringer, and Siesta (is that MG’s move? I don’t have one myself) aren’t 100% effective. Granted, they’re at a very high percentage of working, but not always.
There’s the trade off. It’s not as big of a problem because it doesn’t always work. Still a small issue, though.

When it comes to Stasis, and Stego, they never fail. That to me is a problem, at least with Stego.
I do feel that Stasis has a decent trade off for the damage block, but I could agree to seeing the timing dropped to 200 or 250 so it’s not capable of permenantly locking an ark out.

Lately, I’ve stuck Kami in the back of my lineup, and I’ll perma-stasis the last ark (if I can) of anyone with a Stego in theirs until they quit, or the game disconnects. I have way too much time on my hands anyway.
It’s cheap to the point I’d say Stasis lasts too long.

Back to Charc: it’s entirely situational that it becomes effective, otherwise it’s a dead slot in a team, but when it’s used to it’s full potential, it’s broken. Not overpowered in the same class as Stego, but broken all the same.
If anything, boost it’s defense and resistance to let it stick around, and raise it’s TU. The damage output is okay.

I do feel we’re all in agreement, though. Stego is the highest priority to re-adjust. I can’t believe it has a 100% effective stun that lasts longer that it’s move TU. It’s been talked about to death, but I can’t get over it, nor the length of time it’s taking to fix it.
