Been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I figured it was about time I got back to it. I’ve decided to fully embrace the fact that I’m very, very casual when it comes to the PvP side of things, so rather than make it an official analysis, I’d just give my opinion on whether or not I’d use the monsters in my team (if I have them, that is.) Hopefully it’ll give me a break from those who suggest I play more PvP, because I simply don’t have the time to devote myself to it. Think of this as a slightly humorous look at the monsters.
So first on the list would be Shiny Alphagear, and all I have to ask is why they made it a Shadow monster, considering that the original Alphagear is a Shadow monster. That annoyance aside, it’s arguably a side-grade from the original. Sure, it can sweep a little easier thanks to Kinslayer, but it’s main purpose has been locked behind a LINK requirement. If they made Bloodcrave the LINK move instead of Team Turn, then I can see it being a solid choice over the original, but as it stands, it’s just alright (RAW Knock Back is pretty nice, though). So would I use it if I had it? Maybe; it depend on whether I want my Alphagear to have a more offensive presence, or an easier time using it’s main move.
Next monster on the list, the rejected Sonic OC; Spikiestblaze. I’ve got to say, of all the elemental families so far, the hedgehogs have to be the most underwhelming so far, due to a lack of inherent synergy with one another, like with the Flutters/Abyssoldiers. In stand-alone terms though, it’s alright I suppose. The Rescuing condition is a personal annoyance to me though, given how common one-shots are in this day and age, but I suppose the devs needed to give it a drawback lest it becomes too overpowered. The support it offers is nice, but a part of me wishes that it had a way to remove Poison/Stealth from your monsters. As for it’s passives, another Stun Absorber is nice, especially when paired with it’s Overwatch Entrance, so it has that I suppose. Overall, I don’t think I’d use it all that often, but it wouldn’t hurt to experiment with.
And because I’m an absolute madman, I’ll be going over Purpie as well since we’ll finally be able to get it after waiting for so long. ET’s little cousin comes with an interesting gimmick; a complete field wipe of all your opponent’s monsters if all of your monsters happen to be Purpies. It’s one of those strats that sounds good on paper, but would take far too long to bear fruit unless your opponent happens to make a mistake. Still, the fact that it has Sleep and Stun immunity is nothing to sneeze at. At the very least it has more than one way to create extra Purpies, so maybe it could work as a sleeper team of sorts. Definitely worth trying out in a silly anti-waifu team, just don’t expect to win every battle with it.
Going backwards for a bit, we have our first new Epic monster in a long, long time, Seaviper. Debuting with Toxic Entrance and LINK Poison Massacre, it comes across as a cheap alternative to Banedragon, but with weaker stats. However, I think it’s safe to say that LINK Massacre won’t deal as much damage as one would hope. Sure, I can see it killing Super Epics and even the more fragile legendaries, but a tankier monster would easily laugh off the damage before curb stomping it. It’s a nice monster for newcomers to flesh out the newbie friendly LINK Shadow, but they’ll soon drop it once they get better tools to play with.
For our only legend for today, we have Tigger’s angry cousin who got busted for copying Kattmander’s homework. Well it’s not a complete knock off as it’s skills serve as a large middle finger to Dusicyon (Shieldbreaker for the win) and the sweepers it’s protecting. So what does all this Shieldbreaking/Slayerbreaking business reward you with? A 30 second sweeping move that requires 5 kills to use. Such offensive potential is probably why the devs opted to give it two less than stellar passives, in case it becomes too ridiculous with Unmovable (Though it makes for a heart-warming romance with Regalion.) Still, I wouldn’t say no to using it; anything to give me an edge over the shield spammer.
Now for our first mythic, and it happens to be best girl LemonSqueezy, if he was wearing a cheerleader’s uniform. When it first came out, people feared it as the second harbinger of the apocalypse, following the infamous release of Bastia and her entrance nullifying bosom, and in the right setups it can cause absolute devastation to the opponent. But if a bunch of sticky slugs couldn’t stop me, then what chance does the cheerleader who rejected my invitation to the prom have? It has Slayerbane All for some reason, probably to scare the few people who still thing it’s an “OP move that needs a nerf”, which goes against the idea of keeping your opponent’s monsters asleep as a means of control. It has a Heal/Shield all move that’s locked behind a restriction of having two of your monsters asleep, so that’s one thing it has over Bastia I suppose. Overall, the art is nice and I might use her, but I wonder which girl would be release next. Is it the naughty nurse? The seductive teacher? Or perhaps my favorite, the alluring maid?
But the cheerleader has nothing when compared to the best girl of the bunch, Uraniumedhus. This walking Chernobyl is more visually appealing that the last four lady mythics combined, and that’s saying something. Between the sleek black scales on its body, the large purple wings and the various rods of nuclear energy sticking out of it’s back, it’s got a little something for everyone. Oh yeah, it’s another Poison mythic that works well with it’s equally as sexy friend, Gorgodrake, only this one doesn’t die upon using its first move. It’s a little slow to get going, but one you manage to activate it’s Killing Spree, you can kiss three of your opponent’s monsters goodbye. It also has Radioactive Fallout to help make things a bit easier against monsters with ridiculous buffs, so that’s another thing to enjoy about this specimen. Overall, I’d be more than happy to use this monster if I had it and I am proud to declare this thing the third best girl in the game (Numbers 1,2,4 and 5 are a secret I’ll keep close to my chest…for now.)
Well I hope you like my new spin on my monster analysis; one where I don’t need to play PvP because I’ve got more important things to deal with. Should I make the next batch more informative or humorous? I’ll let you decide.
