After all these years I just realised that Bahamuzar is actually based on the mythic creature “Bahamut”. The creature is a fish/whale suspended in water that supports a goat/ox which in turn holds up the Earth. Popular culture seems to always represent it as a dragon rather than a fish/whale. NM is no different, but a key part of the mythology is its importance in being a supporting structure for the Earth. NM encapsulates this beautifully with Bahamuzar commonly accepted as the “backbone” of the earth throw strategy back in the day. It’s continued to support this link earth strategy with the buffs to its design.
