I think the powercreep and P2W level in this game is still relatively low (compared to other games) if you exclude the top (maybe 100-250?) PvP spots as a goal.
The powercreep system was very visible at the release of Maeve and her quickly recurring banner. Also Camilla was an absolute powercreep release. I guess Bastia too, but I didn’t play the game at her release time yet, so I cannot judge. Probably other mythics as well.
On the other hand, specific important PvE legendaries and SEs can easily be obtained by everybody. Many overpowered PvE monsters are SE and legendaries. So PvE content isn’t a powercreep system at all. Many PvE tactics need specific monsters, but not powercreep monsters.
I’m playing less than two years F2P and I’m very sure, a player like Loki, Duck, Coltraz,… (just to name a few active PvP players with high experience, top teambuilding and playing skill without judging) could easily reach PvP top 100, probably top 50 with my monster dex.
What I actually like to say (after talking a lot
and still will talk a lot more), usually companies don’t powercreep an existing monster/object, because the selling power is much lower than at it’s initial release. And to not upset the players who bought their powercreep monsters, since they are the potential buyers of the next powercreep monster, they can only nerf and balance them slowly.
I like that they slowly rework weak SE or legendaries, like Balancion, Gaiawolf or Manti, to become interesting again, even in PvP. That’s great work by the devs. Also all the small UI and game tweaks that we all take for granted.
It looks like very many people play this game, but I highly guess, most install it and quit, since the game itself isn’t what it is commercialized. They probably come to see a Pokémon clone, but it isn’t the case at all. Or to see hentai content. They might even buy a welcome banner, or fall for the tricky gem descriptions, but then you need to play at least a month or probably three, to really be able to get started with PvE content. If you don’t know the monsters and the game, even longer. Just to see that the game is actually a 16v16 system which requires high teambuilding and playing skills. Required skill is also a big problem, we all love that system, but most people don’t want to learn skill and rather choose a different and more easy to understand game. At least half a year will pass before you can start PvP, since at the beginning you don’t know which monsters will be worth rolling for and you have few gems and few ingredients.
How many PvP players are actually active? If you see the very weak matchmaking, it’s partly because there are just not enough players. If I only play and loose one PvP match a season, I’ll rank top 3000 with zero points. That’s definitely few players.
At the end, I like to praise (once again) the monster designers of Neo, I’m very in love with so many monster designs, I created 50+ background pictures already for my desktop PC. I’ll post them like always in the fanart thread.
Please don’t mind my long posts
and take care guys.
