6 star rock earth mon
This monster is going to be built around the idea of hot springs(yellowstone). Design wise it’s something resembling a slimmer, rocky stegosaurus. It should look similar to Dragaia, in a way, with plated spikes instead of where the “wings” are. The head would instead be a bit lower than said Dragaia, and the inside of the head would be a hot spring, leaking out corrosive acid.
Mortar monster, standard attack
Load mortar - 130tu
Acidspray mortar all - 50tu - Deals big damage to all enemies, poisons them. Essentially a “Venom hellfire mortar all”
Whip load - 70tu - Targets one enemy. Deals medium damage/high damage if chosen enemy is poisoned. If the enemy is killed from this, slightly heals and loads a mortar. Does not add shield.
Stealthbane - 100tu - Deals crit to a stealth enemy.
SS - Instant poisonous wind - 100tu first turn restriction, 70% chance.
Passives:
Corrosion - Monsters poisoned by the user will have their defense lowered by 25%. Does not leave with the removal of poison, and can stack. Cannot be activated while other teammates with poison moves are on the battlefield.
Harden Carapace
The goal for this monster is straightforward. Chug a mortar, hit some monsters, finish some off with whip load and repeat. The monsters hit by this are effectively crippled, now with their 75% defense, allowing for them to be easily sweeped. While awkward to pull off on your own, the enemies can be purified of the poison, but if so the loaded monster can just hit them again a second time and reduce their defense down to 56.25%, and conversely already poisoned enemies hit will not do anything, as the effect is only activated when poison is applied. Stealth disrupts this strategy, which is why it has stealthbane. SS is a gamble variation of instant reload, as your own monsters can be proc’ed.
The debuff is a final calculation which could look something like this:
(Base def × stat boost) × 0.75^corrosion stacks
This would mean that the debuff, while not completely overriding stat boosts to their base value would still impact them. I did it this way as many stat boosts are implied to be flat bonuses, (or multiplicative of the default base value) and high values can cause it to be irrelevent. This also accounts for suddenly changing values like defensive mode or harden carapce. Of course, I am not a dev, so I have no idea how this would look like or be calculated in the game. This is just a guess.
While the lowered defense may seem overpowered, I think it’s okay as most monsters will die in one hit anyways. That said, I made it lowered defense for a reason, and not lowered attack, because then at that point it would just be hell to fight against.
It has little to no answers for poison immune monsters except the relatively pitiful damage from the mortar, nor does it have blood moves or any double moves, leaving it very weak outside it’s strategy and needs support to properly do it’s work. Said support of course not being more poison mons (yipee)
