For the record… EmeralDEUS is not a she.
@DMGInterference sorry mate I read your comment after I did mine. I am glad to back you up!

Coz I use Deathmark in PvE
I think Dracarys meant either 53 speed or Hardened Carapace
Don’t worry, great minds think alike
Deus was actually a latin blanket term for divine or ni-omnipotent. It doesn’t literally mean god(see deus ex machina, which means ‘an unexpected power or event saving a seemingly hopeless situation, especially as a contrived plot device in a play or novel’). Diva wasn’t a term for a female god, but instead refered to a divine being who distincly wasn’t a god, such as an emperor or priest. I actually couldn’t find anything on ‘dea’, so it may have been completely made up, or it may have been a mistranslation of diva or deus. Regardless, none of these terms have a specific gender(that I could find), so you are probably mixing Deus up with the Christian God, and Diva up with the Hindu Shiva.
Besides, the monsters are canonically artificial robots, so assigning them genders seems a bit strange.
Deus definitely meant God though. Emperor Domiziano used to call himself “Dominus et Deus”, meaning “Lord and God”. It surely was used figuratively in some expressions, but the main meaning is unmistakably god.
How come you couldn’t find “dea”? It’s literally the feminine of “deus”. Diva means “divine” or “godlike” (masculine: divus), so I proposed it as a possible alternative.
Source: studied Latin for two years.
EDIT: I still wanted to make sure and checked Wikipedia, here is an excerpt:
Ziberius has rounded stats. Good luck killing things with double retribution!
In the two months you’ve been playing? Sorry to call you out on this but your whole post is like you’re speaking as someone with years on experience on the topic. I respect good insight into things but when you’re trying to scold me… know your audience.
Pff, seriously??
Ever since Emeraldeus was added to the newcomer festival I’ve seen a bunch of threads started here on the forum by new players saying they want Emeraldeus to be better, recommending buffs. I reckon this happens mostly because people get the monster, find it very useful to begin with, then find it doesn’t hold its strength going into PvP or the much harder content. They grow to love it then find out it’s not one of the best monsters.
You really want us to listen to new players wanting their pet favourite made into an S+ PvP super star, rather than paying respect to the monster being good for PvE and decent enough in PvP??
Now to be clear, I am not calling everyone asking for Emeraldeus to be buffed a noob. However, there’s a very real pattern with the newcomer festival and Emeraldeus having buff threads. Emeraldeus doesn’t NEED a buff and has had way more attention than other old monsters. “Give it a speed buff” has been something I’ve heard for so many of the older monsters and it’s a horrible thing because it makes everything harder to deal with. Emeraldeus already has two defensive passives.
Damnit @Gentle6789, this is all your fault.
Yeah I was just slapping the two together for a thought experiment.
Agreed, speed buffs/stat respecs are very uncreative. There are so many ways to buff a monster… It’s worth trying to propose some alternative ideas, you don’t know they may even get implemented.
You’re asking me to propose other ideas for Emeraldeus?
No, my ideas are far superior anyway jk, I’m just saying that I agree, simply proposing speed buffs shouldn’t be the way to go. If you have any ideas though sure, why not
I just checked Emeraldeus and seen the SS is only 70TU. I couldn’t remember if it was 70 or 100… 70TU is incredible.
I almost always offer buff/nerf suggestions in any thread discussing them, even if I don’t agree with the monster being changed. However, here I really can’t. Emeraldeus has been buffed up nicely with all the updates.
70TU double kill when it gets a turn, camouflage to help it get there and if not one-shot it gets max defence for anything trying to attack it. From the send turn onwards it has 100/130TU sweeping and you can even accelerate it if you have a little breathing room.
I honestly don’t know what people need to be satisfied. Power creep is horrible. Let’s not push it!
Honestly, if had to buff it in some way, I’d give it a recoil move to make it easier for him to activate Defensive Mode. It’s hard to activate it else.
I’d suggest something like Bloodcrave instead of Bloodfury or Zealous Attack instead of Accelerate. Surely not Reckless Timestrike, that’d be a lot.
There are a whole host of slow monsters which are popular to use that have less to help them get to their first turn than Emeraldeus. Just looking at my monster collection alone…
35% speed = Penguinator (HG but chrono weakness), Maggatsuoh (stun/poison immunity)
38% speed = standard auto-poisoners (stun immunity)
39% speed = Terrordragon (sleep immunity)
None of these monsters have high defence and none have crazy sweeping power on their first turn besides Terrordragon (detox blast - 200TU and doesn’t one-shot anything tanky) and Penguinator (slayerbane all - 200TU and requires 2+ enemies to have kills).
Emeraldeus has better defence to get to its first turn than them in many scenarios and can one-shot two things at 70TU then follow up with more sweeping. I don’t think it’s better than all them but it’s definitely not standing out as a weak monster that needs more buffs.
When I read this earlier I thought it’s a great idea. However, it does limit how heavy you can go on the sweeping because once you get below 70% HP you don’t want your health to keep dropping.
Also here’s the main reason why I don’t think it’s good… Emeraldeus has higher HP than most legendaries so 25% recoil will have a hard time putting you below 70% HP. You’ll need to use it twice, which simply takes too long. 25% recoil doesn’t match up nicely with getting below 70% HP anyway.
These don’t seem to line up. Retribution is almost never a OHKO in PvE, so it clearly isn’t meant to be there, and it almost never even gets a turn before it dies in PvP, so it can’t do much there, either.
Oof you’re right. Still, I think that if they’re gonna buff him, giving him some sort of adequate recoil should be the way
He’s good in PvE mainly because of Deathmark+Camouflage, plus remember that LINK Double Retribution is more powerful than the regular one because of the fact it’s a secret skill. So it can work for a good chunk of PvE alright, despite not being a one-shot.
To clear a few things up
In general, I don’t like buff/nerf threads, I don’t have Emeraldeus on my main in-game account, and I an not going to be super adamant in this thread. I simply saw a large number of people, many of whom were pros at the game, all voicing their opinions, and saw that I agreed with most of their points. I think that this is a monsters that needs a buff more significant than slightly changing its movesets or stats. I think that this is a monster that needs adjustments in order to optimize its build, and that is what most of us want as well. Given that Pandrinorca exists, having an op legendary clearly isn’t an issue, so I don’t see why anyone is worried here. No matter what happens, it won’t be better that Pandrinorca or Floccosourus or Novadrake or Angelion. This is never going to be S tier, so I think that making it a little bit better wouldn’t hurt. If the meta can’t handle a PvE monster being PvP viable, then the meta needs to change, and I think that that will always be true.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Did you happen to miss the padrinorca nerf train that came by after its release? It was definitely a huge issue for a lot of players even an hour after the egg was released.
The meta could easily handle emeraldeus being better in pvp, but there isn’t any need for that to happen, especially since it just got buffed. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I also seem to recall @SoL_Navelstan getting within a few wins of a top 20 spot a few months ago using a camo frontline with emeraldeus. That sounds pvp viable to me…
