Bang on.
Neo in 2018 and early 2019 had a common consensus in the community that any tanky stun protection was OP. People complained endlessly about Angelion when it had high defence, with many saying “my Chromera can’t kill it which makes no sense because chrono killer is designed to kill it”.
Angelion was a monster that did it all and too strongly. However, I kind of wish we could go back to the time it had high defence and wasn’t so easy to remove by the typical stun setup monsters.
It’s probably normal that with a widely changing meta some adjustments from the past seem to be a bit outdated now
stun hasn’t changed.it’s just the limitation of stun defense this season
This forum is English only
Its support has though. Lower TU sweeping and more options to abuse one stunner over and over. Like Cyber/ Husky etc. Also the power creep has meant that 200 TU of free time in 2021, is far more damaging than 200TU of free time in 2018/19
On the point of Aethereon, I’m a user of it myself and I want to share my experience with it in the front line.
Against general teams that have random stun for value:
Works like a charm… its high defence either makes them put a lot into killing it or, usually, they focus on my other monsters and it blocks the stun they have.
Against teams that have a lot of stun:
They focus on killing it first, as well as any other stun protection I have. Some teams can do it without investing much but even the ones who do have a hard time killing it still manage to do so before their stun hits the battlefield. They can then win with their stun.
So being tanky doesn’t fix the problem and make it effective against the teams we want it to be effective against. The “stun teams” simply find it too easy to kill all monsters with stun protection and find the ones in your team they can stun then they do that and make it very hard for you to make a comeback. However, being tanky definitely helps a bit.
Entrance control before a form of stun protection is a pretty effective way of handling some stun teams, from what I’ve found.
so your opinion is nerf short tu sweepers.not nerf stun
From what I’m reading, and from the title of the thread, he definitely means nerf stun lol
Correct me if I’m wrong @LemonSqueezy
No it’s not. Stun has always been too damaging. It’s just stun lock is more popular now.
There is also a lot of research work behind it is not just putting novadrake and it does all by itself. there is some work done before putting it in it would be too simplistic to say that stun spoils this game. i lost a huge number of matches due to stun
I don’t know what the answer is in all seriousness. I’m just trying to raise this point to the Devs. Maybe it’s a nerf. Maybe it’s a rework. I quite like the idea that a monster can only be stunned once and then gains immunity. Or at least until it’s next turn. Ultimately the Devs will do what they think is best. I just really want to see some action taken, beyond releasing stun countering mythics
I think to deal with the stun teams of 2021 we need the following:
-
Make monsters that protect teammates from stun hard to kill, where possible without making them OP
-
Make more stun lock comeback monsters (e.g. high speed with rescuing give turn / sendback / backstab effects, call to arms - maybe union condition on it?)
-
Make other stun absorber passives with good effects when the monster is stunned, like Bulbieboom but weaker
-
Continue to make monsters which have ways to remove / protect teammates as an active move, e.g. like stun guard, protector conversion and the stun immune backstabbers
Another idea is being in Stealth protects the monster from entrances. (Not Camo though so would need to separate the two)
There are options for sure. It’s funny how people are so fearful of Gazer reducing TU by 50, but increasing the enemy by 120 and no one bats an eye lid
I know there are counters but still
That would be quite a nice buff!
Yeah, that’s why I said not Camo so we’d need to separate them. Just a different icon or something
Yeah you edited after I started replying so I removed that extra bit I said XD
That wasn’t the part I edited
after that there are still a lot of monsters that are immune to stun. and we’re talking about stuns but I’ve seen a lot of combat where poison kills a team quickly too.
