I feel dumb now for never reading “secret skill” as being a move which is a secret whether you have it or not. Thanks for pointing this out Boilertribe! I have to agree that it being a secret makes it more interesting. It’s like how you can see the 5th monster in the opponent’s team but not the 6th or any further… you have to think carefully about what might be there.

Removing +1’s from monsters to gain a legendary potion at the cost of a gem is an interesting idea. I think it’s cool but I don’t like it because it pulls away some of the value of legendary potions as rewards. We need dupes to mean something more but not at the cost of lowering the value of other rewards. There are already very few rewards in this game which actually mean something (gems, rare gems, legendary potions, rare ingredients then only super epic potions a bit).

If you have THAT many dupes to where legend potions become not valuable, then you’ve probably a) put enough time in to warrant avoiding dupe problems or b) spent enough money to warrant avoiding dupe problems. I don’t see legend potions ever becoming a joke of a reward unless you literally have +9 everything, which is less than .0001% of the player base.

AKA 1 player.

Exactly. It’s dumb to not implement something that would help every player except one. And that one would still benefit, just not to the degree of the 99%

Yea I feel dolph needs a buff. I got it but it’s easily 1 shotted and is kinda a glass slingshot. I wouldn’t even call it a cannon cus it’s got 2 good moves and they’re summon and stun. Maybe even hold ground?

What? Dolph is good now man! Stun with double timestrike is really good!

Not able to 1 shot buffed tho. It’s only good for normal battles. Even when paired with chronozeros I can’t get much work done.

There aren’t a whole lot of monsters that one shot buffed ones. He’s really good in pvp now and for controlling the game. One shotting buffs is reserved mainly for blood moves. He used to be sooo bad but they really did fix him I promise.

Hes not bad. He just dosent live up to other legends. I mean having the sol/lunar combo and bane/oak vombo it’s hard to keep up there

How about team names? Only visable to the player but I’d like to be able to remember to not wipe my UC team

You need to seperate pvp monsters and pve monsters. There arnt much monsters who are good at both, and if they are - its mainly supports.

Some of the best pve monsters are for example gear, ermelard, polar… 1 shot monsters. But you will barley see them in pvp, cuz they are suck in there.

On the other hand, some of the best monsters for pvp are chrome, icefang, azra… but you wont see them in pve, cuz they are weak against buffed monsters.

Monsters which are good at both pve and pvp are mainly support monsters that give you a control value, like shiva, motor, geo… and even dolph can be amazing at both, but in pve you need to focus more on stun granades then on timestrike double.

Anyway dolph is amazing now. Ive been using him last pvp and his performence was lethal.

Agree completely! Let’s focus on the important issues, like fixing dupes with legend potions! #gmagic2018

Undo potion then give it to another monster

You’re expecting too much of Dolph. He’s a regular legend, so he’s not required to be a top tier monster. He’s not top tier but he’s more than capable of contributing to his team in both pvp and pve. Stun grenade can go a long away if you build around it enough.

Dolph aint regular anymore

He’s limited now. Top tier legend.

Okay let me run the numbers for you. We get roughly 300 gems in 6 weeks. Use those in good eggs and in 60 rolls you should get 3.5 legs + 1 featured + X guaranteed (X = 0 or 2). When dupes start becoming a “problem” is probably when you have 1/2-2/3 of the normal pool or nearly that much. So every 6 weeks you’ll get 2 dupes + 2.5 new on average or if you go in the festivals with extra guaranteed it’s 3 dupes + 3.5 new. As more time passes you’ll get more and more of the remaining egg pool so what’s 1/2-2/3 will increase and your dupes will go up to the point 300 gems gives you 3.5-5.5 dupes. Let’s call this 300 gems = 5 legendary potions as what it tends towards.

So now we factor in that going beyond +5 on a monster gives very little benefit. Pretty much the only reason to go beyond +5 is if it’s a critical front line monster, a unique case like Goldtail which you want +7 or if you have everything else you want up at +5. It’s hard to say how many of the legendaries we get we will want to use (i.e. want +5 preferably) but there will definitely be some we won’t need beyond +0 as we’d prefer to get others towards +5. My point being, we only care about a selection of our monsters having a boost and only need those ones to +5.

If this removal of +1 from monsters onto other monsters was a thing then it would result in experienced free players (with serious dupe problems) getting an “extra legendary potion” every other week or a little less. Compare that to the rate they’re getting new legendaries (ones they will actually use and want +5), let’s say 1.5-2 per 300 gems and the 3-5 extra legendary potions will account for roughly half of what they need.

The balance of the release of legendary potions, gems and new monsters is such that currently we can all gain great benefit from earning legendary potions. Free players will use them to work the monsters they want up to +5 while spenders are in a very similar position. If you added this “buyback” addition to bonuses on monsters then it would drastically reduce the value on legendary potions as all active, experienced free players could easily have all their good legendaries at +5 and much more easily get particular ones to +9 which is currently a big spender advantage. The spenders would have everything at +5 probably without needing to earn any legendary potions and +9 on the ones they want would be very easy. I hope you can see this without me needing to turn it into more of an essay.

This analysis above is on people who’ve played for free for probably about 1 year already.

For newer players the “buyback” addition would mean they can become competitive much faster as they aren’t so painfully restricted by access to legendary potions. This isn’t so much a good thing in my opinion as there are various stages to development through the game and rushing it all doesn’t make such a great game. However, there would be a huge plus for those unlucky new players get dupes which they don’t want, but transferring these boosts onto other monsters probably isn’t enough to satisfy them anyway because what they want is more legendaries. For new spending players they will basically undergo this same thing where they get more competitive sooner.

I disagree with literally everything you just said Buzzkillerdog. And just because you said a lot does not mean you’re right or more informed about this issue. Anyone, be it new or old, would prefer to get a potion over a useless dupe when they are so lucky to land a legend. I’m not going to type an essay to explain, I’m pretty sure 99% of players understand. But there’s one in every crowd, so thanks for always being THAT guy on here

People seem to take offence from me on here, like we all come here looking for an argument. I guess the game breeds passion. I’m glad that you disagree and would also like dupes to give me something like a legendary potion. I just know that the balance of the rate they release certain things is controlled and with good reason so I think giving legendary potions for every dupe we get may upset that balance in a way that makes the game a little worse overall. If there were more items of value in the game then this probably wouldn’t be a problem but right now when people so desperately want legendary potions it might be a bad idea to essentially give out practically all people need with a change to the game.

Personally, by playing the game for free and even getting lucky with a lower number of dupes than expected I’m able to have all the legendaries I like at +4 or +5 without issue. This is pretty much all I need, which is why I feel the number of legendary potions rewards is a fair amount.

Okay sure, balance. Still doesn’t answer the question of “why should I pay if I’m just getting dupes?”.
