I REALLY want it 
So just as food for thought, collected my daily Christmas login boosted me to 44 gems. Opened a pack and a single put me to zero. Did a single PvP battle, all the levels of the new Super Challenge Battle, the first level of each of Game of Hoards and up to battle 7 in advanced, and have nearly 20 gems already. Like I said, it’s not hard to get free gems in this game, you just have to stay on top of the events.

UC is a curse to me
I don’t understand where u get these numbers from, I myself am level 43. I am currently at 40k rp doing the island challenges and so on. Haven’t completed story mode yet but I roughly make 100 gems a month?
