Thoughts on Neo Monsters as a level 112

Hey there,

I’ve been playing NM for a while now, and have put a bit of money into the game both because there have been a couple holiday events that made it worthwhile and because I want to support the game.

As someone who is in grad school for game development, I’ve seen a lot of games for mobile and ideas for mobile games. NM is one of me favorites for a few reasons:

  • regular events
  • strong story elements
  • fun Monsters
  • not exclusively pay-to-win
  • mix of challenges in events

I am not big into PvP, but from what I have done it’s a bit sketchy, I’ve lot more matches from bugs than I have had legitimate losses. But I don’t fault the devs for it, I understand the difficulty of mobile networking.

As far as money is concerned, i hate pay-to-win. Most people do that I know… I appreciate that NM does allow you to play without having to pay…that said, dropping some funds into the game to get some high-tier monsters will most definitely help you get further, faster. My biggest issue with money/gems is that the cost ratio is incredibly high. $75 for 150 gems is just hands down over priced. If it was $1 for 2 gems and $75 for 300, that would be much more reasonable. Not to mention (since we all know devs want money) that would probably get you more money overall since the return would be a lot better. Around those holiday specials I bet you’d start getting ~20% more of your playerbase buying. And since the return would be good, you’d see second and third purchases more…just saying.

Another thing that really bugs me about the game is the way monsters in PVE scale. I CAN GO INTO 4 different fights against the same monster and sometimes one hit it, sometimes 3 hit, sometimes 10 hits. It’s so rediculous that there is no possible way to determine how strong or weak my team is based off of PVE fights. PvP is completely different. I remember the first time I played PvP I had no idea what did what because it felt like I’d never been on a level playing field before. I think it would be really nice to come up with some way to either show the monsters natural numbers vs boosted numbers, or just redesign fights so that you fight monsters on a level playing field.

Something else that as a high-level player would be really nice is a new level to get De-age fruit. Please…the grind to get three normal is boring and old. Maybe for 30 tickets we get a fight twice as hard for 6 or something. Please, for goodness sake put in a new level for it though.

Lastly, I just want to throw out there that I would love to continue exploring. Maybe add some stuff that’s replayable for low XP and no/few tickets that can be just for fun. Maybe get some occasional loot like silver, de-age fruit, or a rare gem.

Finally to the devs, if a Dev even reads this. You’ve got a really fun and cool game. Keep up the good work. I can’t wait to see chapter 8 and the next part of the main story. Keep up the good work. Thank you!

I agree with everything. They have made a great game but they need to get on top of their big issues asap. Players are getting really fed up with bugs that have been around for months and not been fixed and a lot of long term players have quit because there sick of nothing getting done about them, instead we get a new legendary with 4% chance to get.

De-aging fruits have been asked before but nothing has been done
Eggs are overpriced and would probably be bought more if was cheaper
Rather than having massive buffs in missions they could make it so a fight could be no buffs but like 30+ monsters.

The biggest problem though is the bugs. If they don’t get them fixed soon it’ll push the game to breaking point, the community won’t wait forever for bugs to be fixed and they shouldn’t have to.

the de-age fruit mission is fine for me, but the maximum number of it is too low. We can only contain 10 small and 10 big de-age fruits, and they are not enough to train monsters even when we buy only a 10in1 pack. Please let us contain more de-age fruits developers, I really dont understand why you limit the number of de-age fruits :slight_smile:

Great OP. Agree with everything you wrote. In particular in-game hp meter would be a great addition. Especially since buffing is such a big component of some of the special events (UC/IC) this would give the ability to know just HOW buffed the enemies are as you go up.

The cost issue is correct, but at this point the whole game has been balanced based on the extremely high cost of gems and therefore the extreme rarity of legendaries. Everything would have to been rebalanced if cost went down. With legendaries already being extremely rare within an egg, even with the high cost of gems, I’m not sure how that rebalancing would be done

I think a lot of hardcore players would be satisfied with status quo on cost/eggs but a redoubled effort to fix known bugs and add some transparency to hp and damage calculations.

Yeah, the disparity between pve and pvp is too great. It’s a totally different gameplay. The inconsistency is especially confusing for newbies to grasp the power level of the monsters and also the game mechanics.

They should focus on removing the bugs and improving the AI. Adding in game features for player interaction would be nice. Please increase the fruit limit and also the team tab.

Other than that, the story itself is quite interesting, even though I have forgotten most of the storyline since it’s been such a long time. The event variations and different challenges are welcomed. F2P’s barrier has been low so far. And, the dev somewhat listens to their players.
