What peircing moves besides cani kills the dolphs ? They don’t have weaknesses and a lot of EF units have killer type moves

I’m playing this game since 2016. I’ve gotten top 10 2 seasons ago. Neither do I have a problem to get along with the current meta nor do I think the dolphs are more unhealthy before the game than other stuff I have seen in the past. All I’m saying is: From my perspective, the reward of a 3x time boost (atk, def, stun) is too much for just for putting a few dolphs in a row.
By this logic An Instant Four kill Piercing move would be fine because there are 16 monsters.
That’s just making one wrong assumption after the other. I don’t play stun and even if I did I wouldn’t care about the stun immunity. Second, just because there is a counter, it doesn’t mean something is healthy or balanced. Taking all nerfs ever happened to this game into account, only one strat, the original zibgazer, didn’t have a counter.
Again I have absolutely no trouble keeping up with the meta. I just think some things need to be rebalanced. I don’t think that “If you don’t like it just leave” is a good attitude to have for a forum that’s literally about discussing stuff related to the game lol
I completely agree with what you said and I think ultimately what’s important is the combos / pre-built archetypes are kept in check power-wise. If they’re stronger than most creative things can be then it diminishes diversity and spoils a lot of potential fun. If they’re strong, but not as good as what creative team building can achieve, then they slot in as an extra option for people to play and improve diversity (even helping potentially suppress certain things in the meta which they directly counter - e.g. dolphins should lower the amount of stun we see).
I know we didn’t see eye to eye on everything yesterday but what we both care about is the health of PvP and how creativity should be encouraged. I still don’t have a full perspective on the power level of the dolphins but so far my opinion has been they’ve got probably the right level… for 2022 when mythics are around a bit more.
Also, with some of these combos / pre-built archetypes I think it’s worth mentioning that they affect different power levels in PvP more. E.g. The Nauti+Aura combo is perfectly fine power at the top of PvP but lower down they find it oppressive. Dolphins seem scaled for the top of PvP and I imagine they’re brutal further down, which isn’t nice at all.
Dolphoone is weak to payback killer (rare I know but both Voidress and Aviaeronix see play)
Dolphariel is weak to chrono killer
Dolphoenix is weak to stun killer (as you mentioned)
Spectrophin is squishy (especially in comparison)
Jungleflipper gets ruined by knocking back anything (like most throw monsters)
Tbh their weaknesses aren’t the thing to go for, because they tank hits too well. I won’t try to claim they’re easy to kill! The point made about piercing is just that plenty of piercing moves exist and they all damage the dolphins perfectly fine so it’s not like buffed defence is a big issue to deal with.
I think the main part we disagree with is right here. In my not so humble opinion, the dolphins are significantly stronger than a concerning portion of the creative teambuilding options most players have.
You probably should’ve quoted the part saying “I still don’t have a full perspective on the power level of the dolphins but so far my opinion has been they’ve got probably the right level”. That’s the bit you disagree with, right? Or do you also disagree that if these things are weak enough then they simply become “an extra option” rather than something which makes other things unviable?
More the first part, but I also think that they’d take up a ton of options reglardless
This is not meant as a boast whatsoever, but I’ve played with the dolphins. I made a team before the restrictions that had won I believe 55/61 games. Even in ranked it held around a 80-90% winrate. I’m of the opinion, after using them, that they are a bit too much. They are not hard to build around thanks to the stun immunity, and they hit hard and don’t die to most early game attacks
I’d love if you could share a screenshot of this team with me privately. I used them last season too, in the mid-game, and they were definitely the weakest part of my team (although I admit I wasn’t built around them). My opinion of their power level is based on my experience of using them (taking into account they weren’t specifically built around) as well as seeing all the different teams I met who were using them. I’d be interested to see some of the top things they’re able to achieve.

the dolphins are well counteracted these 2 seasons by the limitations so at the moment I do not think they are a problem at the moment
