I have six years of gaming experience. The popularity of PVP has been continuously declining, and the fundamental reason is that the effort put in is completely out of proportion to the rewards.
The rewards from ranked matches are even worse than those from regular in-game events. What’s more, ranked battles cost a huge amount of time and energy. It takes more than 10 hours to finish ranked matches in just three days. Even the No.1 ranking only gives 20 diamonds, a few potions, colored stones, and a purely decorative avatar frame.
If the top rank has such poor rewards, the rewards for lower ranks are even less rewarding than simply playing casual events. Any normal player would definitely choose the easier option.
Therefore, I suggest upgrading the ranked match rewards. Please add skins for 4-star, 5-star and 6-star low-rarity monsters. You can easily make them with AI generation, and players won’t mind at all. We just want new looks for classic old monsters, such as Heavenly Lion, Three-Headed Dragon, Merman and so on. 7-star monster skins can still be officially sold as usual.
Secondly, please release fewer monsters with resurrection and revenge mechanics. They seriously ruin the gaming experience. If most of the 16 battle monsters all have resurrection or revenge effects, matches will become extremely dragged out.
Lastly, there is no need to keep updating and strengthening skills for those outdated unpopular old monsters. Hardly anyone uses them anyway. Every time you buff old monsters, their usage rate still stays low. Instead, it only raises the difficulty for new players, making them unable to even pass simple story stages.
Please buff the following two monsters; I haven’t seen anyone use them for several seasons.
Could agree with most of it but not the “stop giving old monsters new moves” . You’re right, it might not increase their usage by a lot but it’s quite helpful for new players who get them(since hatching is pure RnG) . Your point about AI becoming harder to clear just tells me you haven’t played enough. I’ve cleared the story again recently and the AI skill selection weak enough that you can beat the story/events. The updated moves help players a lot more than they help some AI
Though this is in general a bad take, it’s true that the old missions will be a bit more difficult. But honestly, new monsters are also way stronger than old ones, so having a bit more difficult early missions balances it out.
Remember back in the day we didn’t have “instant kill on demand” -type of moves at all. Or if we did, they were random or somehow hard to achieve like Geartyrant’s passive auto death.
PvP has not felt like it’s in decline, it feels much more popular than it was years in the past. We don’t have the data to know for certain so I’m not sure what you’re basing your claims on.
PvP rewards are less than other events and not worth the time?? I don’t understand this one, I find it the most rewarding for the time put in. Maybe it’s due to my high win rate, but it gives lots of gems and pretty quickly. We also have weeks to get the rewards. The ranked leaderboard doesn’t give many rewards but you also get the normal rewards at the same time… so it’s only inefficient if you play lots of PvP so have got all those rewards already.
Old monsters getting buffs opens up new opportunities to use them and, as another person points out, it helps newer players who have a much smaller collection but can do more with these monsters than the AI will.
Those three mythics are all still common from what I can tell (although Selkette is underplayed).
