OMG NOT ANOTHER NERF THREAD

Dont worry, this is NOT another nerf thread. This is actually a potential buff discussion, and the two candidates in question have been with Neo Monsters since the beginning.

Both started off, and still are, arguably the strongest PvE monsters in the entire game.

Both started off, and still are, arguably the weakest PvP monsters in the entire game.

If you’ve played Neo for any amount of time or even read a guide or two for PvE, you know the two monsters in question are Dragaia and The Godfeather. I know I know, these two have been talked about to DEATH, but I feel sometimes things can be talked about to LIFE as well, so let’s try to breathe some life into these Home Run Hitters for PvE and bottom pick Benchwarmers for PvP.

We should cover the positives and negatives for both. These guys first.

Pros:

  • Hold Ground
  • Stun Immunity
  • Retreat
  • Last Bite
  • Life Flip Self
  • Instant Backstab (Dragaia)

Cons:

  • Low Speed
  • High TU Assisted Move only form of Attack outside of Last Bite
  • No reliable way of getting into a “Last Bite” scenario

From the Pros and Cons list, it seems like the Pros far outnumber the cons, but it is the weight of those cons that crush the Pros. Having such a high TU Attack Move when 2 of your 4 moves are a 1 time use (Life Flip + Retreat) and the 3rd move requires no other monsters on your board, you can easy get turn skipped and forced to use this 250TU move and thus easily be dealt with from there.

Now I’ve seen a plethora of different ideas for buffing these two, ranging from something as simple as making Last Bite useable but do barely any damage if you have another teammate to giving them both Backstab/Backbite type moves to help them reduce their own teammates. But I honestly think there could be quite a bit more we could do to change and buff these two and make them unique at the same time without affecting their placement in PvE.

Let’s start with Dragaia:

Passives: Hold Ground + Stun Immunity
Moveset:

  • Last Bite - 50TU
  • Backbite - 70TU
  • RAW Bloodthirst - 130TU
  • Exit Plan - 3 uses
Secret Skill: Fortress Recluse - Instant - This skill adds 3 Rockoids to the end of your reinforcements, then this monster is sent back to the end of your reinforcements.

With these changes to Dragaia, it buffs the monster while giving him a unique niche in teams that can benefit from Entrance Passives triggered by choice. Having Exit Plan let’s Dragaia shuffle himself around the team and allow specific monsters to get Entrance Passives off while being Stun Immune to help with counters to certain playstyles. Backbite let’s Dragaia have a way of healing itself while simultaneously getting rid of deadweight teammates and giving it the opportunity to set up Last Bite. RAW Bloodthirst let’s Dragaia attack the enemy while having the RAW restriction. The Secret Skill is the crux of this set, letting Dragaia retreat to the back of the team while placing 3 Rockoids in front of itself to set up for Last Bite. I feel these changes would buff the monster enough to be useable in PvP while retaining its power in PvE but still having drawbacks with the RAW ability not only stopping it from being surrounded by protectors, but also requiring two kills to get going while Drag will most of the time want to make use of Exit Plan.

Next will be The Godfeather:

Passives: Hold Ground + Stun Immunity
Moveset:

  • Last Bite - 50TU
  • Overwatch - 70TU
  • Family Business - 130TU - 3 Uses - this skill immediately kills one teammate, summoning one “Pengfredo” in its place. The user is fully healed.
  • Patsy - 100TU - Target one teammate. If this monster would be targeted for an attack, the selected teammate is targeted instead. Only one monster can be affected with “Patsy” at a time.
Secret Skill: Irrefusable Offer - 50TU - this skill immediately sacrifices all “Pengfredo” on the field, enemy and ally, to deal Big damage to all enemy monsters. This moves damage is increased for each additional “Pengfredo” sacrificed by its effect.

Monster: Pengfredo
Stars: 2
Passive Skills:
Death Revenge
Mob Bond: while this monster is on the field, any The Godfeather, Don Dollunguini, Polaboss, Don Rilla and Pengboss have their Attack and Defense stats increased by 50%
Moveset:
Reckless Attack - 130TU
Purify - 50TU
Family Takeover - 100TU - this skill can only target a The Godfeather, Don Dollunguini, Don Rilla, or Polaboss on the field. The targeted monster is immediately killed and this monsters attack and defense are increased by 2 times the killed monsters attack and defense. This move also fully heals the user.

So seeing this moveset is quite a bit different from the original design. The idea is to use a combination of Family Business and Patsy to remove deadweight teammates while forcing certain monsters to take a hit for you. The SS is a kind of “bomb” type move to use if your opponent delays with dealing with the Pengfredos you have created while setting up Last Bite.

The Pengfredo is a multipurpose tool to be used by other Mob monsters to give them buffs, or betray their Family Bosses in a lust for Power. The Godfeather moveset reeks of callouts and fan service to the Godfather series down to having Pengfredo be a killer.

Please give your thoughts on these fellas and any thoughts you may have towards buffs for these monsters. Also the “Last Bite” ability on these two monsters would have a new effect.

Last Bite - 50TU - This attack deals medium damage to a single target and heals the user by 50% of the damage dealt, it also ignores Hold Ground and Shield. If there are no other monsters on your side of the battlefield, this move deals Critical Damage.

So who are we nerfing?!?!?!?

You’re going to make @Killerdog proud with the length of this post.

The Godfeather is an actual mafia kingpin? Now that’s brilliant. Dragaia is well done but the Godfeather is just premium stuff. Irrefusable Offer = gold.

Pengboss is included in Mob Bond too lmao
That’s mean though, Don Rilla isn’t. Is he part of a rival clan? Is it because he isn’t part of the Polar Circle gang?

One question, why Fredo of the three sons of don Vito? He’s the most useless, even Sonny was less useless and we all know how it ended for him. Although Pengmike doesn’t really sound that well…

Dammit I knew I forgot to add one, forgot about Don Rilla lol. Will add.

Thanks for the accolades, I thought The Godfeather could use some appropriately themed and punned out abilities.

Also to answer your question, I chose Fredo for a couple reasons.

  1. Fredo is the traitor behind the assassination attempt on the Corleone family, thus Pengfredo’s ability to “assassinate a boss” and take their power.

  2. Pengfredo is also able to be killed off by The Godfeather, a way of showing a different outcome for the movies had he rooted out the rat before Fredo had a chance to get at them.

  3. Death Revenge being Pengfredo or “Fredo’s” passive is to show how dangerous taking down that family member would be, even though it would eventually be necessary.

  4. I’m also glad you caught that there were 3 sons and Family Business can only be used 3 times lol.

  5. Pengfredo sounds better than Pengmike or Pengonny lol

These still haven’t been buffed? Holy cow. That’s sad.

Hopefully we can get something moving if this gains enough traction

I swear I’m a dumbass for not remembering this from the 2nd.

Well that’s a deep analysis.

Plus, that moveset would make Don Penguini (also Dragaia) actually useful and not a monster forced to use his AoE or force skip everytime. I actually think he has too much options now, lol

You guys are forgetting to nerf Piercing death Revenge or pay back revenge.
These 2 can easily ■■■■ both of the mons.
Or Make last bite able to nullify revenge.

Lol I did alot of thinking into the moves.

And yes, it does seem he has alot of options, but really the moves I have given him just give him a very fancy way of setting up a 400sec Bomb while being flashy and able to self trigger teammate Revenge abilities

Nahh.

I think I will add that Last Bite ignote Hold Ground and Shield though…

Even tho piercing DR or PR can kill them.

I want to buff them, not make them invincible lol

The only thing that needs to happen for both last biters is to switch their Secret Skills and Retreat.

IE dragaia can backstab more than once and Godfeather can purify stealth more than once

As they are now, it is actually quite easy to set up Last Bite in PvP if you think about how to get your last biter alone (Ie AP spam into last bite). Its not the best endgame, but usable.

Really interesting buff ideas for these two. They often get brought up by old timers who want them viable for nostalgia reasons (they remember the times when they soloed all PvE and were part of the best PvP FLs, assisted AoE + TT).

Last bite (in general)
I don’t think this should be usable unless the monster is by itself. Give it piercing by all means, but always having access to a 50TU move that can pierce and heal the stun immune + HG monster is way too much.

Dragaia
The simpler design of the two but unfortunately a little overpowered. Geomagnus is incredibly powerful with its stun immune + backstab. Sacrumega is the recent version of Geo and has backbite + HG, but no stun immune and lower speed so it’s balanced. I think combining those things together (HG + backbite + stun immunity) gives WAAAAY too good entrance control + stun protection. Dragaia has low defence but it’s not enough to keep this in check.

The Godfeather
Really interesting design that reminds me a lot of Arachnadiva and I love the references. To be honest, this would go great as a new monster and no with the last bite skill. If you think about it, last bite doesn’t fit on this moveset much at all. You’ve got passive buffs to various monsters that you’ll probably want to use this around and while you can get teammates killed off it’s only at high TU (130 + 100).

My buff idea for them both
I think any buff to these two should hold true to their original use. Making them an entrance control king or focusing on the godfather references are not really what these monsters ever did in the past.

Actives:
(-) Assisted AoE (160TU)
(-) Life flip self (100TU)
(-) Last bite (50TU) [add piercing]
(-) Healing retreat (-)
Passives:
(-) Stun immunity
(-) Hold ground

Then secret skills are unique:
Dragaia - Rock rage (50TU) [kills all teammates except the user and fully heals the user, if a rockoid was killed then Dragaia gets +50% attack and defence (can only be used if you have no reinforcements left)]
The Godfeather - ELEM swift accelerate (30TU)

With these slight changes it will give them more viability in link teams actually as part of the team as well as having a reliable way to set up last bite on Dragaia. The Godfeather doesn’t have a better way to set up last bite but it makes up for that by being stronger in the rest of the team and it can be a faster last biter if it gets a chance. Their design will be very close to how they were always used in the past.

Let dragaia be it doesn’t need any changes other than a TU reduction to AoE or making last bite usable with a very small damage if there are still team mates alive Dragaia instant backstab is a great resource amd i agree giving multiple use backstab could make it a better geomagnus but we have to take in count it doesn’t have a blood move so giving it a 3 time use backstab could be a nice change for both that’s just my opinion without making them OP

They could even make it an 100 TU backstab with 3 uses

That’s broken. Imagine having that ability and using it to allow 3 powerful entrance monsters at the same time. Oh I don’t know. Let’s say we have Bane dragon, Scorpiogiest followed by Deathgazer waiting behind that move.

Bane comes in and posions, Scorpiogiest follows and then Deathgazer makes sure they all get a move to wipe out half the team. This all happens in an instant.

Being able to get rid of 3 monsters will be used to set up more powerful combos rather than setup last bite.

Agree

It’s locked for the first 250s of a battle so is only for end-game combos. To pull off the combo you mention you have to kill off 3 teammates and it can be shut down by killing Dragaia before it gets a turn or killing another monster (Bane enters and poisons Dragaia) then killing Dragaia with a second attack.

It’s already possible to pull off similar combos and I think what you have to give up to pull it off is fair.

However, if it really is broken then it could have the restriction changed to “only possible to use if you have no reinforcements left” (only the monsters on the field). This would stop any combo potential. Simple enough tweak to make it work if you’re worried.
