Hey there, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these. Originally, I was gonna wait until Mistmoth was released, but with the two new monsters being released the other day I figured that I’ll cover those instead, alongside Poisomoth. As usual, you’re free to debate my analysis in the comments below.
We’ll start off with Poisomoth, arguably my favorite of the bunch though that could be my bias for poison monsters talking. It starts off strong by instantly poisoning all monsters on the field and follows up with a Poison Massacre, enabling several kills right off the bat with a statline nearly identical to that of Terrordragon. Adding in its Double Poison Touch and Double Poison Eater and you have the perfect lovechild of Terror and Bane, making it an ideal choice for poison-focused teams. Heck, I’d say that this thing can find places in other teams; with Flaming Moth acting as a final kill once you get its initial Massacre off. Overall, I’d say that this gives the unreleased Mistmoth a run for its money in the ‘Best Moth’ category; expect me to use this critter a lot when I get the chance. Final rating: A+
On the topic of Fire type poison monsters, we have Mulasem; great artwork but interesting design. It’s gimmick is that it dies everytime it uses a move, before spawning next in your line of reinforcements, enabling it to use Poison Gambit multiple times, a passive which may be a bit underwhelming for a legendary, but thankfully isn’t too overpowered. ELEM Healing is an odd choice to have on a monster that kills itself after every move, but with other Fire type poisoners like Volcaroth, Volcavenus and even Poisomoth, its not a totally dead move on hand. However, the best team to run it in would be teams revolving around monsters such as Auro and Atra, enabling multiple revivals for fire horses to ruin your day with Double Poison Eater. Asides from those combos I listed, I don’t see this monster being used in any other team; it’s not bad, but its quirky playstyle may put the more casual players off of using it. Final Rating: B
Finally, we have our latest mythic to show off, Prismegasus, and I love the idea behind this monster, what with it being able to fulfill any and all LINK requirements regardless of typing. It’s the perfect gateway to many, many new and interesting team designs and could lead to a new era of creativity. It has plenty of supporting moves with LINK Give Turn, LINK Shield All and LINK Summon Minions Lv.5 (The non-awaken version can only summon Rockoids instead of Diamondoids), while also maintaining an offensive presence with LINK Double Retribution and Stealthbane, though the latter is locked to the awakened version as well. Coupled with that fact that only the awakened version has Stun Immunity and you’ve got a mythic that although powerful, really needs to be awakened. Overall, the fact that it’s heavily reliant on awakening makes this monster harder to use than you’d expect, but the combos it can create would be more than worth it. Final Rating: A, but I can see it going down to B+
That’s it for this analysis everyone, I hope to see you all again soon.
