Yes, I have flarevern and I think banedragon is better. They are even better together.
He havent got stun inmunity and autopoison, 
He can sweep 2 mons instantly, when maxed his fastrike will be problem in pvp
But he poisons the entire line when he comes in.
I use him in pvp and even in his is second evolution he one shot everything: aegis, sarapheon, lavaronix… So if you have him with a give turn, an auto poison and an absorb stun tank ( or leogeist ) he is pretty beastly.
Use pullback and another poison coming
