Winterwing, tailtrail, cometoid . Help
Winterwing not really… but the other 2 are good monsters especially tailtrail his ultra evolution form is very good
Cometoid(final form: Utopion) is very solid for stun protection. If your opponent doesn’t have poison or moves that ignore hold ground, he can be nearly impossible to kill with the use of healing give turn abuse + overwatch. He can be knocked to 1 hp 5 separate times in a single match and still immediately get himself right back above that threshold. So yes, very good monster, especially if you don’t really have many other options for countering stun.
Winterwing(final form: Polareon) is not useful in the conventional way… what she does have to offer is the ability to cheese AI teams. You see, certain events such as Ultimate Challenge and hell mode event expansions pit you against enemies with grossly inflated stats, invalidating a ton of your monsters due to the fact that they simply don’t deal enough damage anymore. But Nightmare’s grip brings the victim down to 1 health regardless of how tough it is, so if you pair her up with a few monsters that can keep the opposing team sleep locked, you can take on virtually anything. Just as long as you can continue to keep everyone asleep that is.
As for tailtrail(final form: Stratustrike), this monster has aged very well. It’s a frontline dweller through and through, and should generally only be paired with a) sleep immunity(NOT insomnia), b) moves that rely on the passage of time like survivor and megabomb, and c) passives that can generate value without the user needing to get a turn, such as auto protect, stun absorber and gravity field. That way you can take the utmost advantage of the time that 3 of your enemies will spend asleep. The strat can readily be thwarted by things like camo, toxic entrance and insomnia, but when you do catch someone unprepared, the lone monster left awake will have an extremely difficult time taking down stratus with his ability to apply shields, fall back on hold ground and instantly heal himself.
Lucrayzor summarises things very well but I just want to add that Stratustrike is hard to build around reliably in PvP unless you have a large pool of monsters to select from. However, in PvE it is extremely effective in the front line with monsters that like time being passed. When you come up against an enemy team that counters it and you fail to win then you can switch to a different team. To this day it’s still one of my favourite PvE strategies.
I love Utopian! Awesome monster
