Hunter island role play

(oh right - oops.  It was some flailing around i guess)

I looked upwards, and screamed. I bashed my head into a tree, hoping out of randomness that I damaged - or at least shook the one they were perched on

I frowned down at the lavaraptor. I still wasn’t sure why he was after us.

I gazed into his eyes, and in a weak attempt to communicate, I asked with my eyes, Why are you doing this?

It was the very same look I gave to Marthis before she left me.

I smiled, a terrible sight (or at least, a mocking one)

The words slithered like snakes from my throat and chest, bringing slime out of my mouth with as well as sound

“come down here and find out…all things are in due time.  I can - and will - raze this forest.  So SPEAK!..if you have aught, to say.”

Zest was distracting the lavaraptor so I focused in on the glowing red stern on it’s flesh. It was glowing, as if it was permanently red hot. As if it had been bur- It had been burned on! It was a hunter mark! It suddenly made sense. All of these monsters, they were connected by the same trainer, they had been sent to find us, and kill us…but why weren’t they directly targeting Zest? He was as much of a threat as a beowolf or a greeenwing.

“Who do you belong to?” I yelled out at the lavaraptor, interrupting its heated discussion with Zest. It focused back on me and hissed …well…it wasn’t much of a hiss but I guess it was new to the whole “look aggressive” thing.

“WHO?!” I interrogated.

Perhaps i need a different approach. there is too much attention on me…

“master, of course you did.  ugh, sent me, that is.”

I straightened up and gave a cheery smile, looking directly at the greenwing.

“come master, enough of these games. We have things to do. Throw the sacrifice down here and we can be off…I hope to be to the desert by high noon.”

immoral perhaps, I thought, but after looking at those pleading eyes, my path is clear.

The lavaraptor feebly attempted to turn Zest against me but he had lowered his guard, bad move. I quickly swooped down and pinned him to the ground. He choked out a small ember as he attempted to use his fire abilities against me. He was a weak lavaraptor, why would a trainer want him? There had to be a good reason.

“Answer me now, who sent you? There is no desert in these parts, I know this island all too well. You cannot fool me.”

Have I overplayed? oops.  I never did like being held in a grapple.  This foe is made of leaves…how have I not incinerated him?

I struggled to reach for the elemental flame within me.  The voices cut it off…the flame was taken away, again.  I was cut off completely from my power, and I had little strength to make up for it with.

I choked for a moment, and sputtered “master…what has come over you? enough of this foolishness. yes haha,  your games are always funny.  now go get me the meat snack and lets move - URK”

I narrowed my eyes in confusion and bewilderment. What was the lavaraptor talking about? And what was Marthis doing to him?

Who should I trust? Who’s on my side?

I let out a soft ‘chirrup’ as I descended from the canopy. Cautiously, I observed the two, then glanced back at the cove where Cerus laid. I contemplated on waking him up. He seemed to be neutral in all this chaos…

I looked over to the left, at the pearex.   He seemed very casual to me, but I never was very good with the whole “empathy” thing.  Especially before I lost my power…

Come to think of it, how exactly did that happen again?

I mumbled something about divinegon and opened my eyes.  I beamed at pearex, my mind racing to re-gain my control over the situation

(really, did i ever have any?)

"dont worry pearex, master always gets this way once in awhile.  She must have got offended when I talked about eating you, but no more.

most of masters slaves end up accepting their roles."

was there any way he was going to buy that?

He was weak and sleezy, his mannerisms reminded me of the filthy, forest-floor dwelling, insects and rats that I would occasionally find and cook.

“Enough of your lies. Your mouth is full of them, lets wash them out shall we?” I dragged the lavaraptor to the riverbank and forced him towards the water, “Tell me who sent you to threaten us”. I spoke calmly and controlled, but received no reply. I plunged his head into the river water enough to shock him, water being their strongest weakness.

“Tell me who sent you,” my impatience grew as he continued to remain silent, “There is a lot more you need to be worried about than a little bit of water, believe me”

I glared at him. “What the Vulcarex’s basement* are you talking about?”

((*haha, get it?))

((Cobra (if you don’t mind me calling you that), can you refrain from controlling other people’s characters? Sorry to ask again. There’s not really a rule about it, but controlling someone’s character usually doesn’t let them have a chance to play out the plot like they want to.))

((Another note is that if you think I’m acting too bossy/controlling in the story or out of character, just say so and explain how and I’ll try to stop. Thanks guys. I like role playing with you.))

(lol, I see what you did there)

I let out a cry as the voices screamed at me, and suddenly there was water.  WATER! I kicked, screamed and gurgled, but to no avail.

My strength drained as the water left me motionless, nothing but the voices to keep me company.  But I know when im beaten, i told them.  Ill give them a boon, perhaps I will yet live.  In the back of my mind, i doubted myself, my goal, and Angelon.  The voices quickly swept these emotions away, leaving only fear and weakness.

“talk is cheap…there is only what you do…I sputtered.”

“Angelon said you wouldent hurt me…”

another lie, I told myself.  I sure hope she is bluffing about the torture and stuff… and come to think of it, whats an Angelon?

“Angelon?” I gasped. I ran up to the lavaraptor. “Did you say Angelon?”

I mumbled weakly, light fading, getting dark…

“pearex… run…this is what our master greenwing does to all of us…”

I belched out a cloud of smoke, and faked passing out.

Perfectly played, i thought.

I looked at Marthis in slight fear and hatred. Was the lavaraptor someone Marthis enslaved after she betrayed us?

I didn’t know who to believe. The lavaraptor tried to kill me, but Marthis only tried to save me. This isn’t making any sense. Wasn’t it supposed to be the other way around?

My lower jaw trembled. I didn’t know how it came to this. Why couldn’t we have just stayed young, stayed innocent, and stayed safe? Why did Marthis have to leave us, and why did the lavaraptor have to come and threaten us?

I shook my head, and then I ran into the cove. I stopped next to the beowolf, who was still sleeping soundly. I laid down next to his large body and sighed softly.

The lavaraptor had calmed a lot now and finally spoke, thankfully. I had no idea what my plan was had he not caved, I never was the threatening kind of personality so this was a proud moment for me. I couldn’t let that cloud the information I was receiving though.

His words were muffled and broken, but he spoke of some “Angelon”. I’m guessing this was a name. Maybe the name of his owner.

He attempted to fake passing out but his constant gasping for breath was fooling neither of us…speaking of which, Zest had vanished back inside, leaving me out here with this creature! I sat beside the recovering lavaraptor, both of us taking our breath from the physical and emotional exhaustion. To make matters worse the sun had risen high now and the heat was unbearable, but as much as I didn’t trust this lavaraptor, I couldn’t leave him out here to bake in the midday sun. I stood up and took hold of his weak body, bringing him to his feet, and guided him towards the shade provided by the canopy of leaves outside our cove. Once we reached the cold ground, I helped him down and rested him against the tree.

“Take a moment to collect yourself. Look, you scared me, I’m not that vicious. What is your name? We can discuss this Angelon once you’ve settled down” I asked in a calm manner. I had so many questions but I couldn’t hassle the lavaraptor more, I don’t know how much more he could take right now.

“they said you wouldn’t hurt me…I have no wish for conflict.  The memories are strange, and the voices are…”

I rubbed the strange burn on my back, and it started to glow.

A mocking smile came over my face, as i rose my feet, trembling.  My eyes changed to a bold violet.

“from fire, all things have come, so too fire all things MUST return!”

I weakly swiped at the leafwing with my claws, as the sudden energy faded from my body and my eyes lost their luster

As quickly as he had quietened down, he became violent again. He rose to his feet and took a swipe at me with his claws, which I easily moved back from, as he collapsed onto the cold sand in a heap. He had landed face down, and I could see the glowing red squiggle was no longer glowing, in fact, now it just looked like a scar from a normal burn. Turning him over, he came back around, and opening his eyes again, I could see they were no longer a vivid violet.

“Are you alright? That looks like a nasty burn there” I asked.

I slowly rolled over, peace filling my head.  I stuck my tail deep into the sand, and heaved a sigh of relief.  My eyes closed.

“but awake I am needed, so awake I shall remain.  I am sorry for attacking, indeed, you and yours are not worth my effort.  But forgive me, I speak beside myself.  Only the why-rum may speak so…”

I trailed off, mumbling about  worms, food, and how nice the sand was.

Suddenly, my eyes jolted open, and I struggled to my feet.

Fear consumed me, but I could not run.  Where had my strength gone?  I want my powers back!

“my powers back…am i dying?..”

I looked at the surprisingly concerned leafwing.

“Angelon took away my power - my connection to the flame”

I seized the leafwings arm, and shook it

“it will do the same to you - and use your power to feed the un-light”

my voice broke.

"You dont know what its like - no power, no magic.  They…all said it was punishment, my time had come.  Its all Zenon’s fault!

I continued to babble like this until my words were complete incoherent, then curled into a ball and spat on the sand.
