Realistically, Finn shouldn’t have much of an emotional connection with his dad. I mean morally, he should, but his dad died before he was born.

Then he thinks he will have a chance to meet this awesome person, and then he gets shot down.

IDK man. Imagine that there is this stranger you’ve never met but heard stories about indicating that the stranger was a close relative. Would you care who he is? relationships don’t form suddenly. You can’t start loving someone who you’ve never met.
I kinda get where you’re getting from tho. The sudden realization that Santa is not real can be painful to a kid and this is basically *100 of that.

It’s more like, you talked about santa claus, knew he was real, got to talk to him for a bit, and then he was shot in front of your eyes. That x100 because he was a relative you knew a lot about, got to talk to, and had your chance taken away.

Sorry if I’m not getting my facts straight but didn’t Finn basically never meet his dad.
He had a moment end of game where he got to talk to him(the sword), and then it immediately got taken away. Kinda ate at him a bit there.
Then he decided that he was going to fight the eternal, yellow crest and such.
