A little rant

Sorry for this, it’s not normally how I am. However, I get annoyed with RNG just like anyone else. @Dev_VKC You’re getting a tag.

None of you are likely to remember, but back when Gorgodrake first released in early 2020 I hatched two copies of it. I’ve rated it top of the tier list for almost all this time and it’s been a mythic I’ve been trying to awaken ever since. Gorgo and Brynhildr were the two mythics I desperately wanted a way to earn extra shards for.

We’re now 5 years on, and I haven’t been able to hatch a single copy of Gorgo. I’ve opened 42 packs across many eggs. I don’t think I even got a standard pool mythic from those.

Today I did the cheap stellar ticket and got two mythics I really wanted, an amazing result! I’ve never got a non-guaranteed mythic on one of those. I’ve literally got the worst result every time apart from one time I got Christine (others all Majorie, Unicera, duplicates even when 1/4 or less chance).

One of them was Gorgodrake, finally! I decided to ride the high and hatch on the Gorgodrake egg. I only needed a single copy, any mythic would be it (average down from 13.3 to 10 packs) and the featured legendaries even happen to include two I don’t own (a rare occurrence). It seemed too perfect for me.

Then this happened…

24 f**king packs until I get a mythic. So that’s 66 packs total to get a single copy of Gorgodrake since those 5 years ago when I wanted to awaken it.

It’s completely ruined my enjoyment of spending the m0ney for a stellar ticket and getting a good result.

I put so much into this game and I have been consistently getting below average shrine results and hatching results (both gems and rare gems) for the past 3 years or so. Those compound to make me get considerably less than I arguably should be. It’s infuriating. I absolutely hate getting RNG rewards.

VKC if you can and want to prove otherwise then feel free, but from all my tracking I’m pretty sure overall it’s been poor.

EDIT: I should add, this isn’t me making a big statement or anything. I’m just bothered by my long-term below average results and then getting my spirits crushed right after a good guaranteed mythic pack bothered me enough to come write a rant.

P.S. Sorry everyone for being very inactive the last couple of weeks. I moved into my first home and have been very busy. I plan to work on the tier list again this weekend.

Kind of surprising to see a post like this coming from you—someone who’s usually the first to take a more reserved and objective stance when it comes to numbers and results.

If you were spending more regularly and awakening consistently, you’d probably have a better view of the bigger picture here.

At the end of the day, this is just your experience with one particular mythic.

Last year, I posted results from two months of tracking pulls, based on a solid sample size—and it only confirmed that the mythic odds are exactly as stated.

Personally, I usually expect to go through 35–50 packs for a new release. Luckily, my collection size helps me stack a decent amount of myth tickets, which lets me make smarter hatching choices and avoid back-to-back pity counters.

That said, I see this post as more of a frustrated rant after an unlucky hatch than a fair assessment.

And for anyone interested, here’s the post I made last year:

Read closer. I am referring to my consistently below average hatches and shrine results for 3 years from careful tracking… with this particular case being the straw that made me snap enough to make a post.

As you say, I’m someone who is reserved and objective. Read this with that in mind.

You don’t get to this many potions (with every 0-5* at +9) without enough experience to have a view of the bigger picture of hatching :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe I’m just a dumb whale who keeps buying gems until I get what I want—down to 13 myth shards away from a full collection—but those of us who spend a lot see situations like yours play out multiple times a month.

It probably doesn’t hit us the same way because, honestly, some of us don’t care how much we spend on the game (maybe we should, lol).

No hard feelings, bro—but I don’t think your potion stack really changes much in this discussion either.

Not keeping track, but getting really bad results too, specially when it comes to Legendaries. The changes to featured legendaries was one of the worst moves devs made. Very, very hard to hatch the ‘main’ featured Legendary. To the point where you may actually end up hatching a few mythic copies before you actually get the Legend you want.
Maybe it’s just me, but losing a lot of motivation to play lately because I just seem to move nowhere. You save a long time to try and hatch something and you might end up getting nothing good after months saving. But even if you do, by that time there are already 3 or 4 new mythics that are breaking the game balance. Pair that with the restriction list and it’s an ever increasing mountain to climb.
Your frustration, although very valid, is still only a portion of all the frustrating things that seem to be happening in the game.

Honestly i think the odds are bad for years, the pity timer was poorly implemented,

The pity timer should not reset until the 30th is hit, another thing i would place another pity timer at 20th pack where it is guaranteed

This way the worst outcome would 2400gems

You are guaranteed the first mythic shard at 20 packs and the second copy at 30 pack, after hitting the 30th pack the pity timer resets

I think your situation (and maybe perspective) is a unique case. You spend to get stuff, regardless of hatching results. I don’t think many, even most spenders, have that luxury.

My potions show that I’ve hatched with roughly 35,000 gems over my course of playing. That’s a fraction of what you have, but for being only a small spender (only getting the guaranteed mythic deals) that’s a huge number and plenty of packs have been hatched.

Honestly, please don’t come here talking about the hatching odds. This isn’t a post about that nor any silly conspiracy theory. It’s about getting unlucky and the pain of having to play with an RNG system.

Sure, maybe it’s just a unique perspective—but for this new festival, I pulled the mythic on packs 1, 31, and 33. In the last few releases I hatched for, the pity counter landed between copies.

Does that mean I was unlucky? Or is it just the odds doing their thing? Looking at the total number of packs I opened over the past months, I’d probably reach the same conclusion I did last year when I tracked over 300 packs—everything averages out as expected.

On the bright side—you’re gonna have a blast with Gorgo this month. The limit list is basically screaming poison season.

This tweet has been viral for several days. Just in time to join the neo’s biggest crash out, Congratulations @Killerdog

Yeah that’s the thing… I was having things average out but for the last 3 years I’m pretty sure they haven’t. I trust in odds but it doesn’t protect me from getting unlucky. I could be wrong and being very stupid, but whenever I’ve checked my long-term hatching results they haven’t looked good.

Getting a mythic in pack 1, 31 and 33 is the kind of thing RNG does regularly and it skews our judgement massively. It’s very annoying, even if overall it’s something like 11 packs per mythic (taking those numbers as an example even though I know that 31 was probably a pity mythic in your case). I had something similar at the 9th anniversary where I think I ended up close to average result but I had the hatches disproportionately late so I ended up with duplicates in the final 10th guaranteed and otherwise had to spend lots of gems on 3 mythics rather than getting the copies early enough to also try for Woolala or Nightingale.

I absolutely will. I can finally try all the stuff I wanted to do with assisted blaze, sacrifice synergy, etc. I also can’t wait to have my Gorgodrake survive more than one attack and to actually be able to use the poison gas move rather than dodging it as much as possible because the risk is too high of it not poisoning what you need it to or dying in the process.

Oh man I’m sorry to hear this Chris!

Come to think of it, I’ve made comments about RNG frustration in the past and potential solutions to them. Of course, I was subject to no mercy from your “well actually I ran the numbers and ….” lectures.

But on the bright side, this time I got super lucky hatching for Gorgo. Only 600ish gems awakened him! Surely your luck will turn soon. Congrats on the move also, babies next!!

Don’t call my baby unicera waste chris

KD vs. GPT :skull:

Tell me about it, I started my acc like 6~7 years ago now, and all I have is 15 awakened(2 from the shop) and 2 of them awakened only by paid gems, being Lucifelle one of them, that Lucifelle I got like 5 years ago or so, 2 shards in 2 single eggs in a row, then another copy the next day, after that I saved gems just because my only goal was awake her, well I still have the video when I had 400+ gems saved and I didn’t even got the featured legend, Jaguardian, and this was before even shrine existed so imagine how I felt, I’m pretty sure I left the game for a while after that and I’m not gonna talk about my luck with Maeve, like u I had ideas, many ideas and I saved 1500+ gems and even today I only have her at +0 and that’s much to say, don’t gonna even talk about the shrine luck and now all I see is these new players with 10+ awakeneeds with only 1 year playing and most ppl getting 800+ gems in shrines and I really don’t understand how I can have that bad luck, so I understand u KD, we are cursed mans and we can’t do nothing about it.

Happy point, at least you didn’t get one of the 30 guaranteed stocks

@Killerdog I hit pity twice in a row for one of my mythics - 2400 gems for two shards and then I was not going to pull anymore for it. I was utterly disgusted by that rng.
