First post on the forum, ola, DMG Boop here. I would like to talk about one of my favorite mythics (design wise) HongHua! Long post incoming but opinions from the PvP people would be nice!
As we all know, she is… not very good. She pops on the battle field and flops around, harming her teamates more than her opponents. Kinda sad tbh cause there is another mythic that kinda does what she does but sooo much better in Soral. Her main flaws come in these reasons
You need 2 of her to function and you can only create a copy by SACRIFICING a monster of your own. If that wasnt bad enough, you cant run her with mons like harleking because her entrance will clear the field of bronzeshells so making clones becomes a tough job.
She can only create one clone per HongHua.
She is extremely slow. 34% speed means she enters around 74 seconds with all the pots and cant do anything until 68 seconds later. Taking a whole 142 seconds to be able to do something… provided the clone has not been taken care of already. Each riptide rend is 85 secs too, a relatively slow move given
So we can see how the user has to put in so much effort to set her up for payoff that doesnt happen most of the time.
To fix this, i think there is a simple solution that does not change how she was designed. We can leave her as she is 100%, with no change to stats, move TUs or passive ability but add one thing to her Mirror Sacrifice move, the move she uses to create a copy.
My idea is that Mirror Sacrifice exchanges an ally for a HongHua AND adds a HongHua next in line.
This way, she becomes a bit more threatening, because now the opponent has to think, “Can I kill 2 honghuas in 150 secs?” If not, they need to prioritise killing HongHua immediately before she gets her first turn. This also means the opponent will have a harder time ignoring HongHua and leaving her to chip her team mates.
Its a small change but i think is quite an effective one but I wanna know what everyone else thinks! Will this make HongHua broken? Will she still be mid? Or will it make her shine just right because of all the drawbacks that already in place that prevent her from being broken (ie slow, high TU moves, cant make easy clones because of lava+ passive)
i think changing the restriction of clones is enough to make honghua viable, i use it in a overwatch setup and it works really well. having 2 honghua summoned like u suggested would simply break the game. Once special rule is over i can send a clip of my team that i adapted and changed from one guy i met in ranked.
if ally substitute was the idea, maybe like the rend can be either if another honghua is in the battle or in the next reinforcement but either way doesnt work if honghua can only create 1 other honghua
when they changed her passive to give her sleep immunity from enemies it was also a huge buff already because she is poison immune and has no way of waking herself up
She is good for low level player absolutely trash for us. Sometimes I wonder what does Dev’s think cause they can nerf anniversary myth saying too op and on the other hand leave trash trash trash mythic as it is. He even claimed once that he played with honghua, if he really played he should be aware of her problem. I can simply suggest blood fury in place of pure cure which is useless. I already asked many times for her buff but they don’t want to listen anyone.
i do agree that pure cure is kind of a skill not really fitting her kit, bloodfury is kinda decent but that would eliminate the need for her to be synergistic with another honghua which is what the devs want players to do
My point of view, the few times I see it in pvp if it doesn’t exist Someone who duplicates her let her play because her ally sacrifice is so slow and her only ability to kill is limited, dead weight summary
If they really wanted this why she can’t be used with sleep,weak to stun, slow from first turn and can turn dw easily. She is epic not mythic and can be compaired with purpie before it’s nerf.
ShiNa is such a nice way to use her without having her murder her team mates!
I agree though, she buffing her has to be a very careful decision as she has the potential to become doomgoo on roids. I was unsure if this would break her because despite how powerful it sounds, it still takes a lot of time to set up, and still requires an ally to sacrifice. For a good player, 74 tu from when she enters is a lot of time to pick off a kill one way or another. Her entrance even prevents the user from setting her up through overloading the enemy with dead weight.
Maybe a clone is too much, but was the only thing i could think of to make her good without cheaping out and saying lets make her 99 speed with 25 tu on mirror sacrifice, or completely changing her design.
Would love to see some ideas! Send it over to me when you can . Overwatch is good but just sad that she needs another very specific monster just to be usable.
Tbh, im not sure if she would be broken with the changes suggested. I just think that since she needs to sacrifice an ally, there should be a bit more payoff rather than just creates another slow copy. But yeah, its a tough choice
Or maybe completely change her design and give her solo slayerbane, bloodthirsty ,hg and def and atk boost. And slight speed increase. Btw this is my opinion cause I own her and want to make her usable in PvP.
The best buff for hungua that won’t make her too op is :
when she create a second copy , the first one can still use that riptide rend move even if you kill the second one ,this will make her dangerous and must kill but not that op , because people always kill the second one and the first one is a dead weight
Kaby man I appreciate u. You always voice for us and till now you are the only person never seen much bragging and being selfish unlike others crying for buff.Even in discord u seems to only enjoy game and be very happy to be mate with u.
They would have to change the name of mirror sacrifice if they made it like a pullback move. Maybe keep mirror sacrifice for 2nd form and change it for the awakened form?
