I’ve been using godfeather for a very, very long time now. I used to rely on his bite for practically everything pve before I really got my team into full swing; the SCB, the Ultimate challenge, and sort of the Dungeon challenge as well, and I still use him quite reularly. Good luck with using him in pvp, though. Since the opponent actually knows what he’s doing, you’ll have a much harder time maintaining your health and staying alive. He’s far more functional in pve. A huge part of making godfeather work is to take advantage of the ai. A lot of monsters, such as Deodragon, Taloknight, and just about any fully evolved support monster, will not attack you straight away, they will be busy doing other things. You’ll find a lot of the time that they will have the opportunity to finish you off, but they’ll just procrastinate and use some random support move.
The second huge part of using him properly is thinking ahead, and deciding which monster to kill, when to skip, or maybe even when to use life flip self. Trust me, there are times when that move can get you out of a very tight corner. You have to pay very close attention to how much time each enemy has before they attack, and work out the “intervals” that they’re in, like if GF is at +0 and not accelerated, you figure out if they’re in the 1-50 range, or 51-100, or 101-150. That will determine how many times you can bite before that enemy swings at you. For example, say you’re in a match using GF, and there are two monsters coming at you with fewer than 50 seconds, and the first one is strong enough to knock you down to HG, and also assume both monsters have hold ground. If you just go ahead and bite one of them, they will cooperatively beat you down. Instead what you want to do is skip your turn, let the first monster hit you, then bite someone, so that the second one can’t finish you. However, let’s also assume there’s a third monster that was at 60 seconds, and you skipping the first monster put the third one below 50, so now it’s the same situation except you don’t have extra hp. So what you can do there is use life flip self, so that the second monster can’t bring you down. It’s just a lot of logical stuff like that. That’s actually one of the more basic maneuvers to keeping GF alive, there are tons of other situations where you just have to stop and think about which option is the best for your survival. Another more obvious way to escape a trap is to simply kill one of the approaching monsters so that it can’t attack you. Whatever option best fits the situation.
The third and final way to use him best, naturally, is to feed him potions. With lower TU, he can recover more quickly, and vastly reduce the chances of him getting caught in a tight spot. +5 is the optimal stopping point, since the sixth one and beyond has a quite insignificant effect on his time values. At 5 the TU for bite is reduced to 43, and with an extra acceleration, which the stun bursters can conveniently provide, it can be reduced to an impressive 35 TU. With only 35 seconds, not even the SE twinkillers or Gaiawolf(they have 99 speed) can go before him upon entering. It makes it far easier to take death revenge too, since you can let the revenge hit you, then simply bite again before any enemy manages to finish you off. If you want to get the best out of him, you simply must get him potions.
So here’s the lineup I use for the UC and such, with the first six guys ready to knock back any enemies with stun immune or stun absorb. If you don’t have these specific monsters, then just grab anything you have with knock back or give turn. Then of course come the stun bombers, ready to blast the enemies into oblivion so that GF only has to deal with one or two monsters at a time, which makes things immensely easier. You don’t necessarily have to do this though; if you want to maintain a normal strategy towards the front instead of fully investing in stun locks, that’s fine. Simply placing one or two tanks before GF and also possibly one or two purify/healers that can assuredly die before he does and also protect him from poison will probably do. And one more thing- do not get yourself poisoned. If there’s a poisoning monster on the field, kill it immediately; if there’s a monster with poison revenge, do not kill it. It’s mostly only timestrikers that have it anyway, so there’s not much harm in leaving them there; they’ll just hit you every once in a while, then sit around for another 200-250 seconds. Also if you’re doing it with stun locks, watch for give turners, and make sure they don’t get their turns, otherwise they’ll break the stun locks. Unfortunately you can’t stop serapheon and Solariel in time; the only way to preserve the locks, if you can, is to damage the enemies on the field as much as you can without killing anyone, and force them to use risky heal all instead. Once again, simple ai manipulation. Hope this helped
