OLD Tier List

Will Gorgodrake get rated once the easter/spring eggs get released?

That’s the plan. I may do the version 2.12 changes before then, we’ll see.

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I figured I’d get back into the spirit of things. And boy do I have my work set out for me, with three mythics and a super epic to cover. I won’t ramble on for much longer as there is a lot to cover and I hope you all enjoy it.

We’ll start off with the monster that has what could possibly be the most awkward name of them all; Spikiestorrant. This Sonic OC brings a fair bit to the table by introducing the first move to capitalize on the new typings that were added in the last update, Herbicide. Any and all Plant monsters will become chow for the blue blur, including notable threats like Sakuralisk, Dracorosa, Willowyrm and Oakthulhu. It’s other key move is something that I’ve been wanting to see for sometime now; Nullifying Strike. Any monster killed by this has it’s passives negated, so it could serve to kill any troublesome rocks or weakened legends with powerful passives. Bloodfury is a solid sweeping option in case neither of its other moves can be used efficiently, and ELEM Stealth All is a nice supportive option for Water heavy teams. It’s sole passive is merely ok, providing a one-use Frozen Heart debuff to the monster that killed it. It’s not bad, but for a super epic with this much offensive capabilities, I shouldn’t ask for too much. A key weakness to the monster is that it’s fairly slow, preventing any shenanigans from being pulled off with ELEM Stealth All, which is fair when you consider just how potent LINK Water is in the right scenario. Overall, this is a fairly impressive SE that manages to be powerful without being ridiculous; if this is what they plan on doing with the new typings, then I’ll be looking forward to seeing what comes next. Final rating: A+, bordering on an S.

Next up is our first mythic for today, Gorgodrake, and my word is this thing insane. The trick behind this monster is that in exchange for a passive that risks killing the monster everytime it uses a move, the TU for all it’s moves are an incredibly low 50tu (even less when you factor in the mythics in-built shards.) Although it’s best suited for LINK Fire Poison teams, which is slowly but steadily gaining support, it can be fit into most teams due to the sheer amount of power that it provides. Poison Gas+ is what it says on the tin, a more potent Poison Gas with a cool 77% chance of poisoning your foes. From there it can pull off a few Double Poison Eaters before settling for more controlled sweeping with Bloodthirst. But in case it’s passive is a bit to risky for you, then you can use it’s secret skill to decrease the odds from 13% to 8%. And it also has Death Revenge for that extra cherry on top, because why not? Some people may think that it’s a little much, but considering the effort it takes to awaken a mythic, you’d better hope for some amazing fire power. Overall, I’d say that this is easily one of the best mythics out there; with sweeping potential that very, very few can ever hope to achieve. I envy those who managed to pull this fantastic beast; I just hope it comes back to me one day. Final Rating: S+

From one mythic to another, we’ve got the first mythic that caused a bit of a stir due to her…alluring design, Satomi. Easily the stronger of the two Easter mythics; this lovely lady brings an all new skill to the table, Secret Destroyer. On top of the moves sweeping capability, it provides some useful information to the user about what monsters have their secret skill turned on. Shieldbreaker serves as a powerful counter to Dusi, Kaeru and any other shield-happy monsters you might come across, with Bloodfury serving as an additional option for further sweeping. Knockback Next is a nice option to deal with incoming threats, while Instant Shield Ally is a reliable supportive move, despite the irony of it being on a anti-shield monster. Add up the powerful passive combo of Hold Ground/Stun Immunity and balanced stats and you have a monster that won’t die to easily. Overall, this lovely lady has it all; great sweeping potential, great survivability, great looks, what’s not to love about her? This is another mythic I wanted to get my hands on, but wasn’t able to do so (A running trend, perhaps?) Ah well, at least I can appreciate her in my Monsterdex. Final Rating: S as a monster. S+ for it’s design.

And now we go onto our final mythic for today, the equally as lovely Lucifille. While her design is slightly better than Satomi’s imo, as a monster she’s the weaker of the two. Serving as the mythic version of Delugazar, the combination of Excessive Force and Double Bloodthirst is always a menacing sight to see, especially when coupled with Poison Immunity. As for how to set up DBT, Heart Burst instantly kills a monster, while Swift Backbite helps get the second kill, cleaning up any dead weight and healing the user in the process. However, the latter is her secret skill so it’ll be a lot trickier to charge up an unawakened Lucifille. Well she does have Filicide which deals critical damage to monster that aren’t fully evolved or awakened yet, so that could see a little use in PvP. Her final move, Charm, has some practicality in that it can cause an upcoming monster to lose their turn, but it can only be used on each monster once. (I tell you, she can charm me as much as she wants…) Overall, while undoubtedly a strong mythic, she’s easily the weaker of the two due to how much slower it is for her unawakened form to charge itself (For the record, all Satomi is missing in her unawakened from is Stun Immunity.) Either way, I wouldn’t say no to any of these lovely ladies showing up at my ranch. Final Rating: A+ as a monster. S+ for it’s design.

Thank you all for reading my latest analysis; here’s hoping that some more monsters make use of they new typings the devs implemented. Until next time!

Couldnt agree more about Satomi. I have her at +9 and she is very solid. Basically eliminates shields. With the new unicorn legend a full team of fire I feel is now possible for PvP. I’m new but I feel the ability to kill water type move makes it duable.

It’s way too early to judge the new SE, we don’t know anything about the new move, nobody has tried so it’s pointless to judge it now.

In the analysis of Gorgo your lack of PvP experience comes into play again. A mythic that has a chance of potentially killing itself can never be S+. S+ is for the best of the best and his passive is what holds Gorgo back from being up there. Control and reliability are the things you want more than anything else from a monster, sadly gorgo fails to deliver both to a certain degree.

Agree on Satomi

Then again: too much credit for Lucifile. It’s actually pretty underwhelming. She really struggles to get the kills she needs which becomes extremely obviouswhen you compare her with Delu. Her high TU moveset holds her back aswell. Charm is nice to have but as long as you use charm, you can’t charge her sweeper move which is the ultimate goal. The move that kills unevolved stuff really is a waste. After all she’s pretty underwhelming

The best thing I see with Lucifelle (second form at least) is using her in tandem with a mon that has Dreamhunt/Double Dreamhunt. The fast TU of Charm coupled with it being guaranteed sleep is pretty strong, and then use her as a one shot to take care of a specific mon with her 4th skill.

Again I’m only talking in her second form being somewhat viable, I couldn’t see her as more than a high C/low B tier but when coupled with the right team mons can be far better than their tier rating yeah?

Gorgo will never be in S…
i have him in 2nd form and rarely use it
i aint saying he is bad, but with his passive it’s kinda like double edged sword
knowing rng in neo mon is somewhat always try to kick me in the ■■■

As someone who runs Gorgo despite being way too unlucky to run Gorgo, I second that.

A fair point about it being too early to judge the SE, but I’ve got a good feeling it’ll do well based on it’s moveset/existing support.

True, Gorgo’s passive keeps it from being the best of the best, but considering just how much sweeping potential it has despite the low chance of killing itself, giving it anything less than an S would be judging it too harshly. As for lack of PvP experience, that is something that’ll stuck to me forever since I loathe PvP with a passion and stay away from it as much as possible.

Personally, I think people are being a little too harsh on Lucifille. Yes, she’s obviously the weaker mythic, but she’s not as underwhelming as people make her out to be. High TU can be offset with acceleration moves/shards and as for charging her up, Double Bloodthirst does decent damage even if the monster only has one kill, due to Excessive Force.

lmao the ai using charm messed me up a few times in that pve event. death revenge took care of the problem tho

Great to see your analysis as always. Ironically, I wrote my update for these four monsters just yesterday! I think you were slightly generous with your ratings in general, but what stands out to me is Lucifelle getting A+. Lucifelle is so awkward that it’s outclassed by many of the mythics… while it would be an alright legendary, it’s a very low tier mythic.

I will post my update after I’ve got Spikiestorrant and checked the damage on nullifying strike. It’s exact rating depends on that. However, for now here’s where I plan to put the new monsters:
Gorgodrake: S general, S PvP, 2nd form Tier 1
Satomi: S+ general, S PvP, 2nd form Tier 1
Lucifelle: C general, C+ PvP, 2nd form Tier 2
Spikiestorrant: B general, A+ PvP

Better than being harsh on them all the time

Haha I totally agree on that! About 1.5 years ago I was definitely being too harsh on everything… I regret that. Mythics are really hard to judge in general because they all have a lot to offer.

@Killerdog just realized that you have Penguinator A and Arboribratus S in PvP. Really dude?

I think Oniblade really deserves that A ranking :frowning:

Where would you put them? Also, any perspectives/reasons to add would be great. Not to convince me, but just for us all to read

Penguinator is one of the best closers in the game. If you’re not ready for him he’ll steal the game from you no problem, and with good team building you can help him do so. Plus worst case scenario he’ll still be the biggest threat on the board and will require your opponent to spend turns on him.

Arboribratus is good, I use him, but he’s just that: good. Being a stun absorber and a protector means that he’s a catch for any poison team, but go outside the little poison bubble and you’ll just find better. It’s good that he helps Oak is his little mission, which he needs being as slow as he is, but again: he’s nothing special.

Speaking of, I’m not sure why Oakthulhu is S+?! I mean he’s very good, but he can’t one shot, he can’t poison enemy monsters (without triggering entrances) and, most of all, he’s sooooo slow. Plus he needs poison support to do anything. It’s mindblowing to me that you’d consider him on par with Bloomeluga or Dracorosa… and better than Gyo?! Really?!

How’s Gyo not S+?! He’s the best sweeper for arguably the best strategy.

I agree that oakthulhu probably doesn’t deserve an S+ rating anymore. I think gyo is good where it is since it’s only S+ when you build a good portion of your team to have enough support to not be killed off or have the link broken. I have little experience on arboribratus so I won’t comment on it.

Penguinator definitely was a good closer back when it came out (3.5 years ago) but it’s way too easily killed before its turn and gets shut down by stealth as well as if only one enemy has a kill then it doesn’t actually one-shot. Penguinator is way too much of a gamble that it’s simply not worth it in top level PvP unless you have link storm going on (in my opinion). Moku is miles better for that one trick and I don’t think people would argue he’s S+ material. I’ve put Moku in A+ because he’s also a bit of a gamble and Penguinator is one tier lower with the caveat that in link storm he’s A+. I really don’t think slayerbane all on Peng is enough to put it in a top tier any more.

Arboribratus is a tanky sweeper that also protects your team from stun nicely. Many people have wanted good stun protection for a poison team and Arboribratus offers that with no compromises because it’s also got sweeping potential, enrage teammate for combos and a 70TU purifying stealth to support the team. The flexibility is incredible. Honestly, I think it’s a brilliant protector that’s ideal for any poison team and I hope more people get it and use it.

Where would you put Arboribratus in the tier list? Not many seem to have used it so I don’t have much to go on. I want to pay credit to a versatile protector for poison teams that I think has great potential rather than just having sweepers at S and S+.

Oakthulhu is still the best, most reliable auto-poison monster in the game. Scorpiogeist is now another great option but that is less reliable. I see Oakthulhu getting used regularly and it’s always incredibly powerful and takes over / wins matches. While it’s slow, it often has a huge impact on the first turn with double repulse and/or instant poison flash. Dual poison siphon deals great damage even if it doesn’t one-shot.

I may bring Oakthulhu down from S+ to S in the future. It depends on how powerful auto-poison remains and whether too many monsters come out that can deal with Oakthulhu easily.

@zazzaro
Peng is the ultimate “all in” monster. While it is excellent in 100 cost PvP endgame, it has many weaknesses that can be exploited in full cost PvP. Stealth and poison pretty much nullify him and those are very prominent in today’s PvP. I would say A+ is the right rating.

Arboribratus is just a weird monster. It tries to be many things at the same time without being really good in any of them. He’s got a versatile moveset, but how can he use it if he’s stunned or constantly hit by high damaging monsters? Never seen him in PvP and hardly see him in PvE. I would rate him A for PvP because if he gets a turn he is guaranteed to do something useful, but might not get a turn.

Oak is definitely S or S+, without any doubt. So hard to kill after his first turn.

Gyo is definitely S or S+. Powerful when alone, devastating when in link water. So easy to get that link slayerbane all and it does insane damage.
