We also got Luna, which sounds like a reference to the Roman god but I think they just used the name because she has nothing to do with the moon.
I’m actually surprised we don’t have a Venus yet or some of the other common ones.

Oh, I hadn’t noticed. But with all the changes we’ve experienced, it’s normal not to think about them.
I have some doubts(wanting to know) regarding some monsters for sometime now:
- XYZ’: why was he given this name? Or just random?
- Spitegrin: this design looks like pure evil , yet it is of earth element instead of shadow???
- Why OoO can sleep mons with insomnia but not sleep immunity?
- Why is the total cost restricted to 206?
- Why is nauticruisar considered as a moji monster?
X+Y+Z in roman is 999 and L is it’s size as L for large.
Same with its 1st and 2nd form.

Spitegrin is likely based on Totoro, a forest sprite from the famous Studio Ghibli film. So earth makes sense for that.
Insomnia was designed specifically to NOT work with OoO. I’m largely responsible for its creation. OoO was too strong in the early days of the game and they created sleep immune monsters intending to counter it but in fact they greatly strengthened it. After the release of Angelion and Gyomurai it became popular in the meta so their solution was going to be an overhaul of how OoO worked (making it work similar to how duel is designed - that’s the end result of what it probably would have become). I proposed insomnia instead, meaning they could use that as the OoO counter and for anything that would be too strong with OoO. What’s funny is that these days they put sleep immunity on monsters that are crazy with OoO, but they have put so many counters to sleep on meta monsters that OoO (and sleep more broadly) is kept in check.
The total cost was originally 173. After the release of secret skills and the shifted focus onto players using teams filled with legendaries they increased it to 206. Strangely they never increased it after releasing mythics and these days most legendaries are +3 cost with their SS so the team cost is much tighter than it ever was. The special rocks were designed as low cost filler to make people still fill all 16 slots. That’s the history of it all, but no idea why they settled on 173 then 206 as the numbers.
Moji being one of the best monsters was a meme from the beginning of the game because it was basically the most played monster. That inspired Mojinator in the 2nd anniversary, which I think was intended as a PvP meta monster but fell very flat. We’ve had more Moji monsters over the years, continuing on from the original meme, and I guess that inspired the Devs to turn it into an archetype. Since Mojinator started the idea of them being inside a robot controlling it, I imagine Nauticruiser was a good candidate for saying it’s got a Moji inside. It also spawns a bunch of babies so that can help support the idea of a Moji team.

I remember someone on FB comment a fanart of moji inside a robot moji that really resemble the mojinator we have in the main page. So they might also take that inspiration there.
