🎨 Neo Monster Fanarts 🎨

you are a really good artist however i agree that the last picture u posted made me feel uncomfortable. that being said i think that you shouldn’t let it discourage you from posting future works…though maybe stick to clothed ones. (i know the devs make this difficult).

I seriously don’t agree how this matter was handled.

I am actually worried @GMagic, specially with the aggressive and threatening tone you throw against @Victorious77_B.G. This is not necessary and should be handled in a way more professional way by a moderator. Your insensitive handling of this matter created a tense situation. A simple explanation: ‘this artwork was removed due to questionable content’ would have been enough, without any personal attacks. Specially since this artwork was at most questionable, and definitely not hentai and unlikely violating any forum rules.

I also don’t agree that anybody here is getting called the ‘bad words’, some forum members here did. They are always the same few members, maybe actions should sometimes be taken against them, with always using their foul language.

If @Victorious77_B.G is not posting any fan art in this thread anymore because of you, I’m going to follow his example.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Everyone will come down on this differently, but minors depicted naked probably shouldn’t be what we’re doing here  please keep posting the good stuff though, you’ve done great so far!

Guys please lay off GMagic a bit. For topics like this, it’s very challenging for moderators to know where exactly to draw the line. Different cultures also have different perspectives on this stuff and as an online community we are universal so they all matter.

The moderators are currently undergoing conversation about where exactly we stand on artwork of this kind, so please be patient for the time being then we will make things clearer.

@Victorious77_B.G Sorry for the reaction you had to the art from other users and please know we do not want to discourage artwork from you or any other. It’s great stuff you do, we just need to be careful about how extreme art goes in certain controversial directions. It was just that particular one which caused an issue.

If anyone suffers abuse for posting fanart please feel free to contact the moderators. We do not want it to be a common reaction from the community. However, please also try to be culturally aware with what you’re posting.

Alright, the moderator chat is complete. Let’s be crystal clear about stuff…

The “rule” is that fan art needs to be considerate about the level of: nudity, sexualisation and perceived age of the character on display. When those aspects are taken to extremes or done in combination is when moderators may get involved and remove them.

Here we had a case of an image that was too child-like + nude (a combination of two of the above). The art was child-like because it was chibi and we respect that it was completely de-sexualised. However, picking a character that was completely nude was a little too much. Majorie was a poor choice to depict in chibi art style, but @Victorious77_B.G please know the moderator action taken here was nothing personal against you or artwork… simply this particular choice. Your artwork is great and we hope to see more of it.

As said in the above post, we’re a global community so we need to be culturally sensitive about some controversial topics. Make whatever art you like, but please try to be aware about how some may be received by others if you’re going to share them online. If you’re ever unsure about a bit of art then feel free to first send it to a moderator for approval.

Ah yeah “cultural differences” again. Like how when you were trying to justify the movie “cuties” as okay in the line chat a couple years ago when it was literally just little girls twerking while scantily clothed. My how the times have changed.

Let’s not get into a big discussion about cultural differences. It’s actually a big factor when looking at different parts of the world. Please don’t be closed off to it as a concept. The internet brings us all together and it’s why we have to deal with some clashes of culture.

@Victorious77_B.G i love your fanart, i hope you keep posting!
chibi art is actually very common in asian culture especially in east asia

I honestly have nothing against chibi fanart since it generally isn’t sexualized. It’s just that making them completely naked is clearly crossing a line where anyone who’d look at the fanart in question without thinking about chibi would say, “huh that looks like a naked child.”

You clearly didn’t understand what the message of the movie was. It is a controversial movie, the same message could have been conveyed in other ways, but of course the American media focused only on one thing and as per usual people jumped on the bandwagon without even attempting to see the full picture.

Same thing here, in some cultures like the Japanese culture, this kind of art is normal, but other cultures might view it as offensive. We are trying to find a compromise here that works for everyone.

Before uploading the drawing to the forum, I passed it on to my friends on WhatsApp and these were the reactions I got, things like: I love it, It’s very pretty, etc, (they’re in Spanish) Then I uploaded the drawing to the forum and the second comment What I got was: Eww Pedoph…
and when i said it wasn’t pedoph i got another equally insulting comment from the same person. The people to whom I passed the drawing on WhatsApp reacted completely differently, that’s why I didn’t see my drawing cross that line, I only chibified Majorie, even on Facebook I received comments like: She’s very cute. My intention was not to create “a naked girl” I even made sure that Majorie’s hair covered anything and made her in a normal position. The drawing was originally a watermark for a facebook page about Neo Monster, as you liked the drawing I decided to make a detailed background to upload it here on the forum, I didn’t do it on purpose, I just wanted you to have the same drawing but with nice background. I apologize for the second time to the devs and everyone who felt uncomfortable seeing the fanart

When i saw it , i didnt even look at her body i was staring at those beautiful different color eyes (if they didnt notice ) , then i saw people talking about pedo …bruh … maybe the problem is on the them sexualizing everything

Right, so if we see some artwork that looks like a naked child, we should know it doesn’t have any sexual intent and carry on with our day.

You get it
Nice knowing yall btw

Yeah, this is where you get the difference between your closed community of friends vs the worldwide community. There are also many people not exposed to art styles such as chibi so they just see it plainly as a child and take a different perspective on it. The intent is unfortunately trumped by their perception.

I think it’s best we compromise between the two, where posters like yourself try to be aware and not push certain boundaries and viewers/commenters are encouraged to be open-minded and not to attack people for sharing something they don’t like the look of.

Speaking of which…

I agree it’s hard to gauge intent, but it absolutely was not the correct reaction to attack the poster with rude accusations. Your own perspectives on what is and isn’t okay will be culturally biased so please do not impose them forcefully upon other people on the internet. If you see an issue then raise it gently or talk to a moderator.

“eww pedo :skull:” seemed like a fair reaction. I didn’t even ask for any moderator action against them or for the image to be taken down. Also I know for a fact that chibi is often used to described small children in Japanese culture lol

Additionally, the reply of mine you quoted was in response to @kabylian trying to make some sort of reverse logic that would imply that making naked versions of chibis doesn’t have any sexual intent. Artists who draw chibi versions of characters that are normally sexualized by design (think majorie’s final form) usually desexualize them by adding clothes or something like that if they don’t want any sexual intent to be construed.

Anyway I just scrolled through a few hundred chibi fanarts on google and instagram and I found a lot of them pretty cute. Believe it or not, all of them were clothed too. I wouldn’t mind seeing more neo fanart like those ones.

Yeah, in my opinion, this comment was the one that added the wrong context to it, not your art. Ideally the art should have been flagged by the person who found it uncomfortable and this matter dealt with behind closed doors and not publicly how it happened.

It was clear to me that you chose Majorie because of her general theme and not her clothing, and it was an innocent “mistake”. It’s hard for me to imagine how it would make someone feel uncomfortable but that’s exactly due to cultural differences and the attitudes/interpretations that exist in them.
