My thoughts on Ankara, 80 ticket mythic

I’m not sure anyone else has awakened Ankara yet, but I thought I’d offer my thoughts. The frontline I’ve been running it with is below

Draco, Triv, Ankara, Plume.

For PvP it looks amazing on paper but it’s not that great imo.

What I love about the FL is that it has no immediate weaknesses, but past the first few turns Ankara struggled. It needs a lot of support and if it has nothing to stealth it, then awakened it costs 59 TU to stealth itself and then an additional 136 (I think, 130 something) to use double sneak attack.

The TU feels high. Running with stealth means one monster puts it in stealth doing no damage and then Ankara attacks successfully; but after the first attack, it becomes deadweight. I know stealth is high tu across the board, but it has little else to offer then. It becomes Deadweight due to a few reasons

  • High TU on all attacking moves

  • A need for constant stealthing as it’s other move is too weak. stealthing is hard to set up midgame and extremely easy for the enemy to remove

  • No other moves to really be effective in the game…

The stun immunity move is a cool concept but it’s not a reliable way to defend against stun. Monsters come and go quickly and a stun absorber or counter is much easier. Also it just means ankara spends its time not doing anything, where you can get more use out of a stun counter or absorber.

The piercing move is not very powerful and most players tend to go for one shot attacks anyway so it’s not that useful, especially for the TU.

I actually think Triv is better because it can stealth all for the same TU, can instant purify and also then it gets double bloodcrave, which makes the TU more manageable at 110.

I’d love to see the pericing move replaced with a bloodmove or something a bit better that isn’t stealth related, however that’s not the purpose of this thread.

The purpose is to warn other players from buying it. I wouldn’t worry about saving all your tickets, especially if there are other monsters you need to get. It’s more than likely going to be an incredibly expensive bench warmer for you for PvP. It will likely be more useful in PvE against DR heavy teams.
Hope that helps

Have you tried using stun guard on an absorber

If u want to have fun with Ankara , use it in UC as front line monster and backstab it or something . It’s a waste of spot , but u can troll almost everyone facing ur team in high uc :joy::joy:

It definitely may have more value in PvE guys. But PvP its just more or less deadweight past the first turn.

Don has also awakened it and I used it earlier for PvE but it’s not something you will want to have there in place of a better legendary. Tenebris is better then Ankara

No. Ankara is the best! :pensive:

Use Fiona instead of Draco that way you can cut the high tu of Ankara in half.

I would if I had her!

Venombreaker would be perfect on her if it wasn’t 200sec

70TU stealth is definitely verging on not being viable in PvP. 160TU double sweeping is also a bit slow. I think Ankara is a good target for being accelerated. Overall, it’s more of a control piece than a straight up sweeper I think. Outside the front line it will give itself two shields (one with entrance, other with SS) and it has decent defence which is nothing to scoff at.

@LemonSqueezy That front line you’re showing above looks like it’s set up to do two double sneak attacks at decent speed but then you’ve got a massive opening where you’re not doing anything. This probably makes it very obvious where Ankara has shortfalls. By the time it gets a turn again it won’t have stealth and will need to try and apply it again so it feels like your team hasn’t done anything in ages and Ankara isn’t helping that at all.

Thanks for the advice. I have a Cele next and Then a Froggie for dual give turn. Between the stealth and the constant shielding its usually easy to get another turn. After Froggie though it gets a bit slow. Draco and certainly Triv are doing fine then though

I didn’t mean it as advice, lol sorry if it came across like that. I just meant I think your team exemplifies the shortfalls of Ankara (from what I could see of it anyway).

Ah that’s ok! I was happy to have the advice :joy::blush: I’ll take all the advice I can get! Even if it was from someone who had played 10% the amount I have I’d still take it

On this point, I find stealth so much harder to set up mid or end game. Is it even viable there? Things need to align pretty perfectly for it to work. The FL makes it a lot easier to run because you can line things up easier. If anyone runs stealth anywhere else in the team come and chat

I see … noted
