the pheonix one is definitely very good, the golem is ok.
You mean the gryphon? Both are good actually with gryphon being the more supportive type with give turn and heal mortar, golem is somewhat an anti motor/tinker dude coz of sacrifice mortar. Gryphon would be a very good support if it had stun immunity instead of stun revenge, over all they’re both good but I ain’t rolling, saving 600 gems for Christmas and New Year. Already have 393 as I didnt roll last anniv as well.
Love the fact that the devs gives us new mechanics (or make old ones more useable).
However mortar moves are still kinda slow, and need some tweaks to become better. I guess it will get a buff sooner or latter, but im going to save for xmass
How did you calculate?
Odds of getting either legend in a single roll: 6.1%*2/34=0.36%
And others also seem to be incorrect.
oh my bad, I thought they had the 6x chance to hatched, but apparently not. Ugh, it’s even worse than I thought.
At first glance I didn’t think much of either of these monsters. With the 160TU setup time for everything and no hold ground these monsters do not fare well as stand-alone legendaries. However, I really applaud the Devs for building on a new strategy: mortar. It’s a very unique strategy and by using the monsters together I can see it being strong, much like all the other strategies.
But then I had a real think and decided these two monsters are great! In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Astrogolem gets a nerf in the near future lol. The only real issue with this egg is they don’t have boosted chance so in reality we’ll only get one in 6 packs.
Gryphking:
Nicely tanky and decent speed to get the shield on quickly. Stun revenge makes it a bit more reliable, helping your team, if your opponent does sweep it before it gets set up. If your opponent leaves it for too long then they are going to suffer! Double give turn followed by instant reload and another double give turn… that right there is basically a team turn but without the stun immunity. There’s no doubt that having this monster out on the field gives your team good support, in the same way Ziberius does really. Chrono breaker mortar is a nice addition for some offence if you won’t gain much from the give turns. What really makes this monster is the instant reload secret skill. Overall I’d say it looks good but balanced because it’s got a long setup time which is no problem for the other team to deal with if they have stun protection.
Astrogolem:
So this guy has super high speed and enough damage to do consistent one-shots with a skill that ignores shields and HG. That right there sounds good, plus he’s got stun immunity which makes all good sweepers that bit crazier. Obviously the 160TU load mortar brings him down to be really quite bad as a sweeper. In fact, if this was his only way of loading mortars then he would be shockingly bad. But here’s the thing I didn’t notice first of all… he can use rockoids to load mortars at 1TU. So all those throw strategies which were struggling now have a guy who can load and one-shot every 51TU with a shield being applied every time he does it. Like seriously he can do this the moment he comes into the battle if you have him a bit later in your team (which you would, because you need to build up rockoids).
Astrogolem has clearly been designed as a counter to the horrible box / shell strategy that has been impossible to counter for a long time. In this regard I think he’s perfectly designed and I am very grateful. But his versatility going into throw strategies makes him pretty insane. I think that if he was the get nerfed the way to do it would be to remove the “applying a barrier” on the 1TU skill. That would leave him as an insane sweeper you take down as soon as you can. I also believe his secret skill could be a little faster (70TU or 50TU) considering the alternative is sweeping very efficiently… I don’t think many would use that SS so it’s not worth the additional cost. Of course, the SS would only need this buff if the monster itself gets the 1TU load nerfed to not apply a shield.
I would love to roll Astrogolem because he looks great for anyone to have. But this particular egg looks like a bad choice to roll on so I guess I’ll add him to the list of monsters I hope I draw in a future festival.
There’s 2 problems regarding astrogolem though. The thing about sacrifice load is that it only works on monsters on the FIELD, which means he’s unable to draw rocks from the back of queue. Only reason I can see that it works on rockoids is that he finds a use for them should they end up on the field and unable to be used for fodder otherwise. The other problem is that he definitely seems to be a worthy motor counter since if motor repulses him, he comes back on as soon as one thing dies and he immediately kills the shells. Except the thing is, KBN is a thing. After repulsing, motor can simply knock Astro to the back never to be seen again. And if Astro is behind the other repulse victim, they can kill one ally, bring the other one in, then KBN. Please just give Astro unmovable, then he’ll be a proper counter.
If ever astro gets a chance to come back on the field after a repulse, you’ll need to wait 100 secs to use its sacrifice mortar, that time frame is too loong and by that time astro has already gone to the graves.
Astro is the one to be buffed this time (as with 50% of new legends). Too bad, his design is awesome imo.
Honestly feel like they could both use a TU reduction on load, because 160 is still ridiculous.
Ohhhh it’s sacrificing from within the field. Well that makes a lot more sense now! I agree that people can find ways around him as a Motor counter which is a bit sad.
His best place might be at the end of a throw team comboed with Timber. With any luck you can have a lovely last stand with those two.
I rolled a second ten in one pack and pulled Astrogolem. All I need now is Gryphking.
