Guys this thread is mainly to recommend artwork designs to the Devs. Please use it only for that, not random discussion. @ArcticTheHunter That big post you wrote should probably be in its own thread, not this one.

Beautiful! It gives me a Dragon Island Blue vibe.

Plus he’s a lancer, and I LOVE lances!

That was what I thought immediately. We ought to have some more monsters of the DIB style. I personally think that we should have more of the cute and interesting artstyle of HI as well, but anything is better than the current run of underclothed women and copy-paste overcomplicated dragons that take up half the screen.

Is it a lance? It looks more like a glaive

I had already lost the moment I talked about weapons in a forum where the most active mod plays FromSoftware games.

I always thought glaives were swords! This is a cringe moment for a self-proclaimed lance, spears & similar fan.

Haha good point it’s not even that. I’m a big fan of medieval weaponry and their uses. If they were a thing in the UK I’d definitely go along to HEMA classes. Halberds are my favourite.

It isn’t a glaive. A glaive only has one sharp edge. That looks like a slashing spear and a lance combined.

You’re right, glaives are only single-edged. Technically it would be a type of spear (slashing spears don’t exist as a term??). However, it’s extremely rare spears would have a blade quite like that because it would be very bad for manoeuvring at range with thrusts (too much weight at the end) and, when searching, surprise surprise I can’t find any with a blade quite that big. In practice you’d use it much more like a glaive or like a broad sword if you held it close to the big blade (like the character is doing in the image). So I think in this case I’d argue for classifying it more like a glaive than anything else.

Fair. The second tip would also hurt aerodynamics and could be a hazard to the user, which makes me think it may be more defensive(for holding against charges)

its a sword on a long stick

Bingo, it’s called a swordstaff (or occasionally a swordspear)! Completely forgot about that category but it’s a type of spear.

A type of spear that my ‘types of spears’ Google search completely missed. I hate search engines
