Well, either way, unreliabiltiy is the point of AP. If you want a 100% block chance use Aegisdragon or a manual protect skill. I honestly do think that a worse player should be able to beat a better one sometimes because I’m not a pro and neither are 99% of players by definition. It isn’t fun if strategies are completely reliable and battles always go the same way because it encourages a INF100IFS100 mindset where there is no real skill once you have a strategy.
Ap case is just an example. I don’t like RNG in general for pvp and wanted to see what people think about it
I bypassed 4 times in a row lol with non raw move
Finally, a based thread.
I remember winning a match because I bypassed Sanctistag’ AP with Time’s Up three times in a row. Did I deserve the win? No. Did he deserve to lose? Yes, they deserved it for running Sanctistag.
Anecdotes aside, excellent point made in the thread but I think you should’ve mentioned the worst offender here: Sleep. The only Sleep moves that don’t rely on RNG are:
• Hypnotize (three monsters have it as a secret skill),
• Fatal Sleep/A Dream of Snow (one monster has both)
• Counter Sleep (one monster has it).
Every other Sleep move is directly reliant on RNG in a way or the other. This not only makes Sleep unrealiable, but also leads to undeserved victories, since Sleep-locking is 95% of the times a guaranteed win.
Not only that, but Sleep gets completely obliterated by Poison (notably, Poison Gas is twice as fast than Purify All), whereas Stun has a lot of counters as well as effective enablers (first and foremost, the newly released Haneri).
Death Revenge is a case of bad RNG, as I said here:
Though not ALL RNG is inherently bad. Imho, Knockback Random’s RNG is a fair one, because it’s very rarely impactful on a match. Also, Deathstroke moves are very fair because they’re fun to use and Arborgias has three of them.
Thanks for the inspiration @DMGInterference
I think that’s fair tbh people go nuts if a game comes down to an AP bypass, but the odds are pretty much 1 in 3
they act like it’s one in a million!
Your welcome! He indeed deserved it
Like I said, too many people who complain about “RNG” don’t actually understand the math behind it, and that goes for people who complain about DR too
Actually I think that needs to be reviewed, I can’t believe I have such a bad luck, that every time I play AP protect 1 of 3 times. Taunt+ mythic on the other hand, instead of 50% seems to block 70% of attacks!. What’s your experience against him?
Btw, since his release, I’ve only bypassed him like two times. I even started wondering if my concept of what 50% is was wrong🤷🏻♂️
Since you understand it that well, please explain me how does people bypassing 3 AP two or three times in a raw happens that often
Chances of bypassing 3 AP once: 3.7%
Twice: 0.14%
Three times: I think I already made my point
You just aren’t noticing the times when rng works in your favor as much as when it doesn’t for APs. If you were to keep track of all the times moves bypassed an AP and got blocked by an AP it would be around a 1:2 ratio.
Well, people say it is 2/3 chances of blocking.
I’ll start keeping track of it anyway, just to check
I think you’ve just been unlucky. Odds seem about right for Focal to me
No, focal is perfect. I said Taunt +, sorry about that, I meant autotaunt+. The new mythic
Chance of bypassing 3 AP is 1/7 = 14.3%
The calculation is: 1 / (1+2+2+2).
No protector would be 1/1, one protector is 1/(1+2), etc.
I’ll PM you about this
You were right, I remembered incorrectly
Yes, I’d agee with leaving rng. WIthout RNG, death roulette would just be sudden enemy death.
I love when it backfires and kills my good mons. YOu get the feeling of the enemy laughing at you.
