Kattmander > Cresendo

I’ve been using Katmander and have been pleasantly surprised. Accelerated without a pot, it takes only 136 seconds to have a 56 sec lethal move. On top of that, the moves to charge the neko finisher are also critical moves - light bane and dark bane.
It has no protection other than stealthy entrance so it is a very well balanced great monster overall.

That being said, it puts crescendo moves in the dust. Crescendo is great if you have 500+ seconds to spare. But put against each other, crescendo blast needs at least 3 shots before it can even deal considerable damage. On top of that it costs 200 sec and it took 150 sec to get there whereas in 136 sec, Kat already has a garaunteed lethal move that got charged by other lethal moves. What makes matters even worse is that katmander has a ss that makes him faster and stronger. Neko punch is 30 tu and does even more damage than the first crescendo attack that costs 50. It does the crescendo job even better by quickly finishing off low health and hg monsters.

I did an experiment with shiva and kat. Shiva because he has the highest crescendo attack. Check it out. It takes 15 shots before shiva can guarantee a one shot crescendo on just magma. One of the lowest defense legends. Realistically I feel it would take shiva about 20 crescendos, Leo about 23, and pola about 27 before they get to neko finisher level.

15x50 tu = 750 Tu
Vs
Light bane 70tu + dark bane 70tu + Neko punch 30 tu = 170 tu before a critical Neko finisher.

Keep in mind that the crescendo strikes before 15 are also non critical capable moves whereas light and dark bane are.

I understand that leo, shiva, and Polaboss are a little more defensive and supportive, but I feel like objectively speaking, Kat is so much better offensively.

P.s I know shiva and Leo can be annoying but when’s the last time you saw them in top pvp?

Shiva needs some love with an ss

Pola needs a new ss. Second wind when his attack already gives him HP?

Leo, cool idea, but I haven’t seen anyone use his ss.

pair kat with stun counter. Nothing can stop it.

I’m running a Leo cat stag and regalion fl and have been destroying in pvp

Is your team destroyed by light lion fl?
Btw, can light bane one shot light lion now?

The Katt is out of the bag @Thaiger

I agree that kattmander is a great monster. It can be very annoying in PvP. I think Shiva, pola boss & Leo are pretty well balanced monsters. SS moves are coming for all non SS legendaries already. In regards to Leo… Having stun counter on the field is automatically giving the team some great strength.

What kind of SS do u think Leo needs? Genuine question.

I’ve been thinking about Shiva lately and been contemplating what he is designed for and what SS will work well with him.

“Instant accelerate team”

That will probably be too Savage though🤣
Man it will help in Garcia’s Hoards event

No to both questions. It will get one shorted by my Leo after the light bane.

Neko finisher will one shot tho.

Right but if I had angelion I would choose that monster over Leo almost every time.

I would leave Leo ss the same but change tu to at least the same as crescendo if not instant. Especially for 16 tu

Shiva could have life flip all or revolutionize at a low Tu and a time restriction. I would feel like that would make sense or a pure cure plus. Unless we would like an offensive move, if that’s the case I would do something like crescendo accelerate. Increase crescendo attack as if it’s been used 5 times or something like that. Fast accelerated team would be a godsend tho

Pola needs pure cure instead of 2nd wind. Or even fast vile rage with restriction. Shiva could use the vile rage move as well

Secret skill idea for Leo:

Swift Crescendo Blast / one time use 50 TU

Lol I would unlock it

Leo SS isnt bad for pve but for pvp its useless i use him with drako and when Enemy have a charged sweeper i use it on drako but nobody with a brain will atack drako and put it to red or hg …all they need is skip and hit drako with a non charged move and viola!
So yeah swift crescendo blast 50tu seems way better

I love threads like this! I’m glad Katt is getting some love.

Comparing it to crescendo is an interesting one. The crescendo monsters are more about the other parts of them, rather than the crescendo. They’re definitely not sweepers unless you build around them.

Polaboss - the one with a cool passive and counters poison, in PvP is viable if used with ways to poison it (the crescendo is too slow) and mainly because of stun pulse taking an opponent out of combat for a bit.
Leogeist - the one with stun counter, the weakest in my opinion because there are better stun protection options now.
Shivadragon - the one with crazy support and does the most damage (most viable for use as a sweeper if you have a GT with it).

Kattmmander is a monster which pays off very well if you give it a little room to charge itself. A 70TU sweeping move is no joke, especially when the monster has an accelerate built into it!

I would choose leo over most monsters :unamused:

In regards to Shiva, I’ve also thought of a complete team healing move for his SS. So many times during Garcia’s event I ran out of team HP to share around.

Honestly Shiva needs a SS that helps him do what he is designed to do. Either a heal move or something that reduces TU on his weak cresendo move.

Instant accelerate team might be OP. Regular accelerate team will be Better:). Or like you said pure cure plus. That will fit in nicely as well. Helps give more HP to share around.

My thing is that crescendo monsters are great support monsters but with new moves and monsters showing up they seem to get overshadowed.

For example the best comparisons I see are

Blitzdeer: 70 tu “reckless crescendo” that carries on to the clones and charges an explosive move. Charges much faster and can do a critical double attack.

Katmander: light bane, dark bane, and Neko punch charge a critical move

Sobeking: charge slayerbane and and charge dreamhunt charge a critical move.

The reason why I added sobeking is because all these moves require a charge pre-requisite move to establish a lethal move. That being said, crescendo is the only one that doesn’t have a “bane” or viable initial charge move to get it to a lethal attack until much later in the game.

Understanding again that the crescendo monsters are more supporting, there offensive capabilities are getting considerably weaker based upon the power scaling.

Leo < Angelion
Polaboss - unique moveset with stun pulse and detox strike but attack other than detox strike even 10 strikes later is not even worth it.
Shiva - the most useful in my opinion out of the crescendos. HP share, and purify. Such great moves for support and he can charge crescendo faster than the rest.

My suggestion is that the crescendo move itself gets a little buff. I don’t feel like that would break anything but it will make the move a little more viable ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Btw, it takes 3 50tu crescendo strikes from shiva, the most powerful crescendo before it does the same damage as Neko punch at 30tu.

I’ve used both Polaboss and Shivadragon a lot in PvP. I feel like they’re both very strong and crescendo strike doesn’t need any buff.

Pola+Crim is an amazing combo because toxic give turn gives you a kill on most things and you can use vile rage to make Pola’s crescendo strike do double damage with very little downside because he’s healing off HG with every attack.

OoO + switch friend into Shiva is one of the best setups for so many things and allows Shiva to charge crescendo strike to near-lethal damage by the time enemies are awake. It’s also very easy to get crescendo blast to one-shot and with a GT that’s amazing because you can immediately cancel the high TU and get him using crescendo strike again. We all know how Shiva is one of the best PvE monsters in the game too.

If you look at the numbers then it can seem like crescendo strike takes too long to get up and running. However, in practice you can use them in combos or pot+accelerate them to make their relentless attacks be great for killing monsters in very little time at all. I agree that monsters like Sobeking, Kattmmander and Blitzdyr do some things better but they all have their own shortfalls.

Dont forget that Kattmander is meant to be purely offensive, literally nothing else he offers. Support monsters attacks are suppose to be weaker due to the advantage they give to the team as a whole. I dont see any issue with katmanders neko punch being stronger since he needs it to be otherwise he wouldnt be a viable choice.

I agree with everything that you are saying. I feel like they are great monsters. I have them all in my second PVP team, but when was the last time that you saw any of them in top pvp? Honest question, I might be the odd one out.

But, my main point is in order to keep them relevant in the running, crescendo strike should be just a little bit more powerful to hold up to the other move sets being presented along with other new monsters and buffs.

I don’t expect cresendo to be more powerful than neko punch, but I don’t expect it to take 3 shots from shiva, the highest damage cresendo to do equivalent damage to a move that costs half as much tu.

Although, I am glad everyone is offering their opinions. This is more of a friendly discussion rather than a request for a change, even without any changes, they are still useable unlike other older monsters. That being said, I am really enjoying the various opinions, thanks for participating guys!

Our boy Shiva still needs an SS though. Would love an accelerate move or full team healing move. He is gonna get one regardless. I just hope it supports his design and isn’t an attacking move.

Would be better than his current one for sure…
