I just got slaughtered by one of the coolest teams I've come across. Care to share some of your PvP stories? (Part 3)

Ngl Im kinda enjoying no limited list. We can then adjust units that are problematic accordingly (and stun overall, I think what we did with tranq entrance was a good step in the right direction and need more of that)

Yes a valid point, we’ll likely see Nova and other teams that can kill a few monsters quickly. I wonder if maybe people will literally build teams of 4-6 monsters that kill a bunch of enemies then they will lose quickly and go to the next battle.

Tanbeer says 4-5 matches, Raghnius says 4-6. I agree it’s an average of 4 battles each day for me too. So this is definitely taking a lot of time for that daily gem.

I think it varies quite a bit based on the team you’re using. For example, I have 100% win rate this season and the two teams (special rule and not) tend to play dominantly from the start so a bunch of opponents are quick to retreat. One day I think I had to do 7 matches to get the 30 kills because they were all disconnecting after I got a couple of kills. I wonder if for players with weaker teams they have to play fewer because when you lose a match your opponent clearly stuck around and presumably you were able to kill a bunch while you were losing. But maybe time-wise it’s longer, not sure.

@LemonSqueezy I do really appreciate the suggestion and thanks for trying to make it something that works for everyone. This new daily PvP requirement definitely comes with some negatives though. What do you think of making it “Defeat 20 monsters a day”?

I think it’s perfect as is now. Maybe you’re just too used to finishing it in 2 minutes that now it actually feels like a chore? Before you add “not everyone has time” comment, I think the devs would rather you play the game how it’s intended and for longer. I myself barely have time to play pvp some days but I could very quickly do 30 kills, it’s not an issue. Pretty sure I could easily squeeze it into my pee toilet breaks. It’s also more enjoyable for everyone not needing to face “free win” wraithosts and there were a lot of them before change…

i am really happy with the new system personaly

sure some matches takes longer when someone disconnects or leaves early on

but now the 6-7 caniblize teams showing up wasting my tickets when i acctuly want to play the game dont show up anymore

so alittle more time conusiming < more fun

if others cant put aside 10 minuttes max of their day for 1 free gem then maybe they should just not desserve that free gem

Or just drink 5 liters of water every day, this helps for more frequent toilet breaks for longer time leaving you probably 10-20 minutes of time to play pvp :joy: (also gives you reasons to bail from situations you cba to deal with, double win)

It’s not quite that, it’s how it seems to take 4 (or slightly more) matches to get the 30 kills even when you’re mostly winning. Perhaps it takes more for people who aren’t winning. In terms of time it could take some people a while. For me, it seems to take something like roughly 20 minutes a day.

My main drive to change it from 30 kills to 20 kills is to avoid days where you get a spike in how long it takes to do. As a daily thing, I don’t want it to usually be something like 15 minutes but occasionally it takes 30 minutes. That’s annoying if it’s a day when I have less spare time but because my opponents keep giving up at the start I have to do more and more.

Here’s my experience from today, which seems pretty typical…

Match 1 they retreated early. Match 2 they were clearly going to lose but thankfully stuck it out for a bit. They played slowly, but I got a decent number of kills so all good.

Match 3 I got “lucky” and met a noob (below 100HR) that didn’t kill a single of my monsters and he didn’t retreat in the first few turns he had so I chained together kills through his whole team to stop him retreating. He then ran the full 100s timer down before retreating (didn’t know how to disconnect I guess, luckily).

Match 4 I was lucky enough to meet a community member that they had a bit of a fight before retreating so I just about got the last 5 kills. Took me 16 minutes in total.

So the learning point from that is match 1, 2 and 4 show how it can go. If I hadn’t got the third match I could’ve done 6 matches total today to complete the 30 kills and it been close to 30 mins. Also, the variance in how many kills you get is very noticeable… so making it something like 20 kills could mean you still do a few daily matches but are less likely to need 6 matches on some days.

P.S. I should note that my current team is reliably aggressive, so it’s faster at getting kills in matches than a lot of teams and I can grab quite a few in a row before they get a chance to retreat (like match 3) so that definitely helps for the daily gem.

In my point of view this wouldn’t have been different with the previous system if they required to do 5 daily battles in complete battles. That’s battles with teams that have near max cost and last for certain TU to be eligible for reward.

@Dev_VKC take notes :saluting_face:

It’s true that I’m talking about 4-6 matches here when before it was 5 matches needed. However, I can only speak from my personal experience (or Tanbeer and Raghnius who shared theirs) and for players who are not winning lots like we do it may be a different experience.

My personal issue with it is I don’t like the time variance in how long it is to get the daily gem. In my day to day life I’ll decide to play for a bit to get the gem and don’t know whether it’ll be 15 minutes or 30 minutes.

It also affects games a bit weirdly like when I’m winning then I’ll try to stop my opponent getting any turns / go very aggressively killing and more generally it’s odd that my progress is governed by how quickly my opponent decides to retreat.

The previous system made some people build teams to quickly end the battle. This new one changes the way people will play in some battles and they’ll also use certain types of teams to quickly get some kills, regardless of whether they’ll win. So I hope you can agree there’s some negatives.

so basicly your just sad you cant run your one monster that caniblize itself anymore

When I just started playing PvP like 2+ years ago, I was always so happy to get an opponent with Ziberius, Wraithhost, Moji or Musharoo to finally get a win to reach my 14 wins for the two Omegamids and the Vorabook.

The only better option I’m thinking is the near max cost teams for 5 daily battles which only count if the battles lasted for 500 tu or all monsters of one side died (were killed by enemy monsters mostly). And also if retreating, the one who retreats is not eligible but the other person is regardless of the requirements. But this could potentially make you spend even more time in total.

I think Dev’s should add some system where people get 5 gems weekly or something if they mantain fairness in the game.
Like they introduce something like honor score. Let’s take example the max score is 100. If player have maintained 100 honour score till the end of week they will get 5 gems. If they disconnects in PvP, their honour score would be -5/ or something let Dev’s decide. And every game they complete till end without rage quit either win or lose they will get +1 honour score. Also each player must have played at least 14 match at the end of week to get free gems if they had maintain their honour score to 100.

How long did that 1 match take?

You guys are so spoiled lol. So what if it takes more than 10 mins to get the free gem? Maybe you don’t deserve it if you don’t have the time to kill just 30 monsters.

I don’t mind if devs reduce it to 20 kills. We’re getting full games now and that’s great.

We absolutely cannot go back to a system so easily exploited as players running a single monster. I’m so glad that’s behind us.

I will point out that people are commenting that it takes roughly 4 games though and the previous iteration was 5.

I play a LOT of PvP and I haven’t personally seen any changes to the way people are building their teams, so I can’t comment further on that. Ultimately the game should reward players who put the time in.

Thanks for the reply and I appreciate the opinion, especially because it didn’t come along with comments about me being lazy/greedy/etc. It’s good to come together on this and see what we’re all thinking.

It’s still early days with it all. It’ll be interesting to see whether it shapes the way some people build their teams going forward.

I also wonder how casual players are finding it, especially those who are weaker so lose a lot of matches (i.e. probably don’t get many kills per match). They’re very unrepresented here and online in general. I would hazard a guess that the majority of players out there will play to get the daily gem and not much more so it probably matters to them a fair bit how this is set up. I hope the Devs monitor whether the change impacts overall PvP engagement negatively or positively, that’s probably the most important thing to take into account.

Those casual players will find it relatively harder to get the daily gem, but they’ll still reach 30 kills if they play enough games. Isn’t that the same as how most pve events work? Do you also think it’s unfair that newer players struggle to get pve rewards? Even if it is, that’s simply how the game should work. Eventually the players who take a long time to kill 30 enemies will be able to get the gem in shorter amounts of time because they’re playing actual games instead of giving away free wins.

As for the new requirement changing how players make their teams, I highly doubt it would influence a player so much as to make them want to remove fifteen monsters from their team and queue with that.

They have a harder time on PvP leaderboards and getting the win/score rewards. The daily gem should be just to promote daily engagement, not punishing some people over others because they’re not as good… in my opinion anyway.
