I can’t remember now but did it even do much in our battles?
Normally the plan is to tree rot and double poison eater with Arboribratus then use Cactalars to 100TU give turn back to it and either enrage teammate Oakthulhu or attack again if I still need to clear stun protection. Rosegeist is slowed to go just behind then it can attack however necessary or terrorise to get Oak to do the 150s stun and I chain together sweeping attacks.
I can purify sleep and absorb stun thanks to Arbor + GT from Cactalars and Cacta can deal with poison immune stuff with union attack or power slash. I leave the opponent with monsters that can’t do much except damage the Arbor, which Cacta can heal back up again for only 100TU. Rosegeist deals with DR monsters by doing mutual inversion on them.
So far it’s won 26/28 battles (two losses only to you).
Cactalars is definitely brilliant in this. Tanky stats and useful moves at only 100TU then a piercing kill for 160TU if desperately needed. It’s also nice how Bronzeshells and Vineyes are plants so token disruption doesn’t even remove the stats buff! You definitely need enough dragons and plants around as targets for GT, but even just one means you have a decent damage union attack (same damage as Beetlebrute).
@MonkeyDluffy I know it’s in a PvP special rule, but here’s an example of Oakthulhu shining. Using it with Arboribratus is definitely the way. It works in the mid-game too. I’ve had a couple of 90% win rate teams with the pair in my mid-game.
Two of my FL don’t survive, but I find a way with the rest of my team. Arboribratus, Cactalars and Rosegeist are set to 46-44% speed so one of the latter two get a turn then I can usually double repulse with Oak and enter a much more fair fight where I simply lost two at the start, rather than having my team disabled / them chaining kills.
Yes. Tanky stats with 100TU give turn is very nice.
Right after I say this I get another loss. This guy was using BOTH Ldiefaeth and Dreadmoth lol I couldn’t come back from that. I gave a valiant effort taking him to his final 6 at least. His timely Nightingale coming in just as I was going to instant poison flash with Oak saved him from me getting a win.
Is it radical to expect having siphon unlimited use?
Then its being cost 16 ,
There are several cases of monsters who are not worth to be cost 16,
Ex- chromera, oak, lavaronix, holy auto poison dragon,
Your team works in this particular rule only where 50% or less speed is required,
After this rule ends tomorrow, and end of month in ranked pvp,
You cant expect me to believe oakthulu will be your option,
Yes you are using him now but majority isnt,
Reason being not being +9,
Very few players understand that monster needs to be +9 to utilize it properly,
New players will understand slowely
You being a veteran & utilizing it is good ig,
But you cant deny the fact most monsters need to be buffed & need rework,
Its a constant cycle which is needed for any game which has been played for a longer period of time.
I hope devs atleast look into that & you also change your mind & persuade devs about it. Thankyou
This is literally what I said in your thread and all I was contesting was that we don’t need 6+ uses of poison siphon and I said that Oak is still a good monster (you were claiming it’s not).
I’m simply showing you here it does have places to shine (during certain special rules, even when direct counters are common) and referencing how I’ve also had success with it in normal PvP… this is in response to you saying it’s a bad monster.
We can agree to disagree on that bit then. I don’t think a higher use limit will change much at all.
We agree on everything else
If you don’t own Arboribratus then I hope you get it. That pairing definitely powers them both up a lot. Without that there are much better options to use than Oakthulhu for PvP. If/when you do have it I hope you give it a try and it changes your mind on how strong Oak is in 2024.
Yeah the pots change was a big disadvantage. We used to have almost all the benefit at +5 but now we want things at +9. The only advantage is that we get way more gems and while hatching for mythics we’re likely to get extra copies of legendaries so we naturally get a bunch with bonus already, but that doesn’t balance out how many more legendary potions we want overall. It’s only people like me who have grinded the content for years who have overcome this.
That said, I don’t think it’s fair to knock a monster just because you don’t personally have the pots for it. This complaint could be used for any legendary.
They didn’t change the way bonus potions affect entrance speed, only move TU. So +5 bonus still gives most of the entrance speed reduction. You can read the numbers here: KD's Bonus Potions and Entrance Speed guide
On the topic of the shop, i really think the mythics that are not limited should be purchased with 6star tickets and not 7star tickets. The majority of us dont even have 200tickets anyways
