150-200 gems per month is closer to the number I think, if you’re playing all the content and can get far in events then that’s the average amount. Personally I average 200-250 gems a month by placing on leaderboards and doing everything.
@Alejandro_Pellicer Free players can definitely get far in this game. We have quite a few good examples. However, it takes time to build a collection and you have to be very good with strategy. Best of luck with the game!
I’d say f2p can get as far as possible even for p2w, it’s mostly about how much value you can get of each monster when team building
“When you get so many legends you can’t even evolve them all”. The fact that in 9 months you have 83 legends and mythics compared to my 76 in THREE YEARS is astounding. In terms of eggs hatching, I’ve tried everything too. I guess the positive is that I’ve got so many goddamn ingredients I can evolve whatever I want straight away.
Idk how but there are a few guys that have these ‘lucky accounts’ who seem to get exactly what they want 90% of the time. You, @Phantom00, @Moking had a really lucky spell too some time back.
Its all about luck in hatching.

Well I was very lucky a few times, but in 2020 my luck is not as dope as it was back these days when I got gyo, angelion magmar and stuff from single rolls. sad life haha
Got all strong legendary as f2p for an easy top 50 positioning with 1,5 days of playing during ranked. I wish I got Bastia but well I am still waiting for a new limited time legendary/mythic
You need to be patient and have a lot of self control when it comes to using your gems. Hoard them for festivals.
Study every monster in this game. Memorize all their moves including passives. Be familiar with how each monster works with others what their strengths and weaknesses are.
Read killerdogs guides and get advice from great PvE players such as Killerdog, Unown and many many others.
Same guys are great at PvP.
Above all, do not give up when you fail. I went through some tough times when I started playing PvP. Win rate was something like 49%…Facing crazy teams. But I kept going and thrived on the challenge. Now I get the rewards I want. Top 50. But I still can’t reach level 100 in dungeon challenge 
reached 90 as a Max. Also haven’t reached 2000 in Ultimate challenge.

Luck makes a big difference, but skill is equally huge.
To a certain point yes, but you can’t overshadow the fact that team building is a huge factor of success
