Again, to clarify, goldtail can only be obtained from certain festival eggs. It cannot be obtained from any island. The idea it could be caught started as a joke and has carried on since.
Also it was funny the first time. Maybe even the third time. This is like the twentieth time, it’s officially dead.

I witnessed the birth of the Goldtail prank in live chat, saw them talking about getting fake screenshots in order. Nothing to do with the devs, just players screwing around with other players. I know I sound like a buzzkill, but Buck’s right, the joke has overstayed its welcome.

It’s a bad joke like Penguini catchable in first Island. Many ppl would believe that. I think if a Dev post that is really no catchable legi exists, all will know it and stop run in the trap with trying hunt a no-exist Penguini in Island. And that is with Goldtail too. My opinion.
