To be fair, Dead Island is a coop game, not really a multiplayer one, but trust me, it’s so epic and fun to play with some friends ! Would it only be to electrocute a zombie and see him starting to move like he’s dancing dubstep : D
Minecraft is a fun game, but it didn’t feel the same after update beta 1.8…
Yeah, same as me, I need a story or at least a background to get into a game, or I just end up bored : /
Same here. I need something to keep me immersed in the game.
Immersion is what it’s all about at the wend of the day. If you don’t get immersed, there’s nothing to keep you wanting more, sure there’s the achievement complex going on in your head and how that keeps you playing to reach the next goal but that differs between each person and has its limits. If a game is truly immersive whether in its gameplay, or storyline, or simple visual beauty, people will want to continue playing it.
Minecraft has no storyline, and it’s visuals aren’t exactly the most beautiful, so how does it stay so popular? The community gameplay, the sense of actually building something with a community really immerses you in this digital colony you contributed to, and that’s why people come back.
Thank you Prof. Kiltedcobra for this explanation : P
And the immersion all depends in what you prefer in a game : the gameplay is the most important for you, then sure you’ll have no immersion problem with minecraft. Personnally it’s the story/background that keeps me immersed.
I don’t know I find minecraft to be a really good source of entertainment! Then again I haven’t really played minecraft except testing my mods in over 6 months… But I do enjoy it whenever I get around to it. And it does have an excellent modding community, nothing beats forge.
I am fairly restricted to iPhone games but my favorites currently are (in no particular order):
Arcane Legends
D.O.T. Defender of Texel
Knights and Dragons
Pocket Frogs
Dragonvale
The Blockheads
Skylanders (for wii)
Historically some of my favorite games have been:
Geomon (I was a chat moderator before it got shut down)
Dragon Island Blue
Civilization
Pocket Legends
Star Legends
Battle for Wesnoth
That is some list! I haven’t played most of those games though
I play alot of games on steam, mainly tf2 and blacklight retribution. Occasionally battlefield 3.
I used to play runescape, before they really ruined it, and dragon nest which I quit. I’m also an avid fan of DIB
Oh runescape my first mmo, they really did ruin it! It was the coolest thing ever until you hit that point of no return and realized “wait this blows!!”
Oh man my first MMO was Pirates of the Caribbean online. Kinda had the same feeling you did.
If its free and you don’t have to download the game files to play it, you usually come to that conclusion.
The game was free but you did have to download it
Yeah, when they re-added the wilderness, everything just went flat
Still…
I mean even star wars the old republic did that… That MMO got really…really bad.
Very few mmo’s seem to service for than a few years, only eve and wow have mad it this far though I think lol might be around for awhile along with the elderscrolls online!
I enjoyed EVE but I mean…SWTOR failed in like 3 months…
Crashed, burned, exploded, emploded, re-exploded, burned some more and then the dev team cake and tried to stomp the for out only causing them selves to spontaneously combust.
