As I said, there isn’t a plausible reason to block talking about Geomon on this forum. Hence why I only said that I would LIKE that to happen, but that it won’t happen. Perhaps you missed that part, Jemnidad?
Now, in the suggestions section, there are certainly a great deal of suggestions. I was saying that, of the
group of players that did come from Geomon, those players can’t stop talking about Geomon and how much better it was.
Lots of suggestions are coming from people who didn’t play Geomon. Of the people who post suggestions that came from Geomon, most of the suggestions are straight from Geomon anyway.
And almost all of the Geomon players sit here saying Hunter Island can’t be better. This is just a last resort place.
I’m tired of it. You bet I don’t want to hear any more about Geomon. I stand by what I said before.
And let me say I was fine with Geomon discussions (because I agree that we should make them feel welcomed), but I drew the line at the ones who complain about how much better Geomon was and think Hunter Island can’t match it.
I really, truly want to see support for this game here. I don’t want to see people beating it down simply because they think it can’t compete with other games.
Now, constructive criticism about a particular flaw in the game is a whole different story. Of course that’s not only fine, but necessary for making the game successful. But that isn’t happening when people say Hunter Island is just some last resort low-quality game that can’t ever compete with the likes of the almighty Geomon.
I do agree Ashley that all the harsh comments saying geomon was better, is very much uneeded. Geo had its faults too which HI doesn’t have. HI has its own faults too, but its new so it will have bugs too. Which will be taken care of.
ANYWAY.
You guys should really stop this argument. Maybe take it somewhere else? Or at least stop it. ._.
All I wanted to ask was for some geomon players to come back…I didn’t say anything about how geomon was better.
However when I read your comment about geomon talk being banned on this forum, i was very. VERY. offended. If this is an offtopic section…well, you guys created an off topic section for OFF TOPIC things, right? Maybe you should just dedicate it to something else, because since geomon is OFF TOPIC, we can talk about it here.
Well, its sad how the older players let go so easily. Well, except reset. I’m actually not a long loooonnng time player, although I played in the beginning then quit, then came back.
[removed, since I don’t think this is appropriate to discuss anymore]
On-topic: I think I’ve let go of Geomon. I understand it closed, and I understand it may never come back. But I’m still remembering it. If you let go, you have to forget?
I’m really sorry for not being able to go on EsperClub for the past few days Storm. Have you considered making a forum for aquamon?
Yes, once the game has really shot off and like, you know. In the phase of coding. However, I’m slightly scared that nobody will go to it, and it’ll just have like, two or three people including us. So…well. I might, but I doubt anyone will join. Basically my point.
Well, I suppose it depends on your definition of “let go.” I don’t consider myself as letting geomon go, because we’re still working on aquamon, which technically has some geomon features in it. I’m trying to incorperate things into it, so I don’t really consider that as, I’ve let go. And, plus, I still take time to gaze at my screenshots, so…I understand that it won’t come back; i’ve understood that for a long time. But I haven’t left esperclub forums, and I want to keep the community, so I don’t think I’ve let go. People, in my mind, who have let go are who have departed from the forums and severed the connection with the community. Which is like, 95% of the community.
Edit: I think if some people who are interested in helping or just in the updates, told me that they would be interested, I would most likely send them to esperclub. I don’t exactly see a huge interest in making a new forum unless people are so crazy about it (AKA Hunter Island) that they would actually follow the updates. Still, I think esperclub has kind of turned into the Aquamon forums, because that is mostly what is talked about on there now because we have lost alot of other interests.
Edit 2: It’s okay Reset. At least you’re still “on.” If you can just try to check like, once a day or so. What I do is I leave my computer to hibernate and keep a few tabs open, then I just refresh them, respond, and go back to work/sleep.
Hm… you are right about the letting go. I guess I’ve let go of the game, but I haven’t let go of the community. If that made sense. The game was fun, but it wouldn’t be the same without the community.
And I suppose you have a point about EsperClub. Well, either way, it’s all cool. ^^
Yep. I don’t think it’ll be a big thing, more of like a side project, but that’s entirely up to Storm if he wants it to just be a fun project or a serious thing.
Right now I’m just trying to come up with a better storyline than what we have now. <_< ; It’s hard.
Well there was something after the closure of Geomon that was called Aquamon/Deltamon but I never ever seen anything about this maybe once an amateur video of the trailer but not really something that would confirm a sequel.
FYI, for those who don’t know the history. Geomon was started as a project of a bunch of college guys with a clever game idea. Ok, they were Stanford guys so they were pretty smart to begin with.
Well,I’m trying my hardest to make this as serious as I can, but unfortunately… I can only sneak time for it because there is so much going on. So mainly, I’m cutting sleeping time, homework time, and sometimes music time to work when I can.
Now that I think about it, I think during school “breaks” it becomes a serious project, but during school time, it’s more of a thing we try to work on but usually fail to do much.
Well, um, by the way jemni. Deltamon is something completely separate from Aquamon, if deltamon exists. I saw that trailers as well.
Hey, um, I know there are developers on here. I’m learning python right now, but would it be a better idea for me to just jump into C++? And. I would like to ask, do people prefer IOS games over computer? Because I’m scared I won’t be able to support the costs. Is there a way to make an app and not give it to the App Store, and download it from a website? I thought it might be possible because I’ve seen apps like, gba4ios which you just download from a link, and thought it might be possible. And is Xcode a lot harder to learn? I did a lot of research one day so sorry if I’m bugging you guys.
I recommend C# and the XNA (more low-level) engine or Unity Engine (more high-level) if you can. If you’re interested, send me a private message and I can help you out with a bunch of related matters.
Personally I’m more into mobile games but I had an addiction to a few web based games on Facebook for a while (ahem, Maze Defense). Whichever way you go, it may take a little money invested. Apple requires you to get a dev license, but that’s a one time deal and then the app can be single player and you just “sit back” and support it. Web based requires you to find a host which may mean monthly fees, and not much income unless you have a good iap strategy.
Don’t let any of this deter you though because developers don’t just pop up and say “Let’s put out a game next month”. You have to learn how to do it first, then you start working on the rest. And many many successful games started with a single guy with an idea which he developed over time until he could make it happen. Maybe one day you will be selling foam or stuffed animals from your games in Walmart like Mojang.
