Dungeon challenge feels too grindy

Compared to the other events it feels like you have to invest so much time into this one to do well.
Might be worth considering the same strategy as the others, letting you skip floors to challenge the highest that you can.

SUMMARY (for any devs who drop in): general consensus is that the luck factor is a little frustrating to deal with, the difference between fighting 2 teams and 12 in the same amount of floors is huge. This combined with the length makes it less skill based and more a case of just trying repeatedly, which is undesirable in an event.
Suggested solutions are having a fixed number of fights each floor and allowing you to challenge higher floors like in other towers.

The problem is the random aspect of the event you can be luck and have 2 fight per floor or have a fight every two steps with huge team and annoying monsters and such. I think if the event was less random we wouldn’t feel that way.

There is too much luck factor in a strategy game. This shouldnt be the case.

We do have a full week to finish it though. The point is to keep your team alive through the floors so not sure how they would let you skip floors. I agree that it feels a bit grindy but I really enjoy the event. Maybe they could just have battles as tough as the extreme challenge on one floor that takes you from 0-40 for players who want to move quicker.

I agree… The challenge is supposed to be grindy and you need to find a self sustaining team to succeed… I would just reduce the variance on the strength of the teams you encounter on the same floor… Like I’m tired of double aegisdragon teams with 6 mons I was encountering at floor 45-50 ahah

Agreed. This event might be a little different because you have to grind, but I lost motivation to start climbing floors. I actually just started the dungeon challenge today because I was putting it off… which has never happened with an event before. But if others enjoy it then maybe I’m just being too lazy xD

I hate the dungeon its so boring and annoying. At 57 but might not bother to try go further. Soon as nightrider or bahamuzar die I just leave.

The dungeon is just luck based not skill so don’t worry
They should make the battles a set amount like everyone vs the same amount

The most frustrating thing is how almost everything AoEs. The only times I’ve encountered they don’t, is timestrike and 1 on 1. I really wanted to get the legendary potions, but I keep getting wrecked by a floor that 1 on 1s me or a floor with 30 monsters who AoE.

Yeah exactly. You could try get to a checkpoint 10 times and never make it then eventually get there with like 7 monsters there because you didn’t run into many battles, the ones you did you went before the enemy, no death revenge etc. Ultimate challenge is more fun. I doubt I will make it to next checkpoint, can’t be bothered re doing it over and over trying to get the right monsters

It just feels like you have to spend so much time on it and you can’t really influence how well you do as much as you can in the other events.

Lowering the time you have to invest would at least take the sting out of it I feel.

So, please tell me what you guys are avoiding and the things you’re adding in. Do you find it smart to avoid having any sleep monsters in fear they get one shotted? I only have one desperate double, but i do have rexo, godfeather and nightlord. I feel like I should be making it deep into this, but I’m not. Something is just missing.

14 fights in just three floors

At this level my desperate doublers don’t even have a chance to come that far because of those stupid twinkillers that do aoe.

Just dug out my old login to add to the comments in this thread.

I really enjoy most of the events, but these dungeon crawlers are just soul-destroyingly tedious. I don’t enjoy them one bit and just grind my way through them to get to Lv 40 then quit.

I’m not a hardcore player and by the sounds of it my team is nowhere near as strong as everyone on here. I don’t invest much real money into the game (I’ve bought the 13 gems package a few times), but I have played almost every event since I started playing the game and have probably had about 50 egg spins - but I’ve still never had a legendary. I also missed the transfer phase at the start of the game so didn’t even get the opportunity to transfer over one of my monsters from HI, which is a shame.

It seems these dungeons are impossible without a legend or two to sweep. My best tactic is sweeping with Hydrowyrm’s Assisted Wave - which is effective til about floor 20 - then relying on luck and Cryogolem’s Desperate Double to get through 5 floors at a time. It’s not fun at all.

It’s not like the dungeon challenges of Hunter Island either (which I did enjoy), given that you have no say in the size of each floor or when you get in a fight.

yeah i did the same cause grinding is not fun. i just played until i was at stage 50 and then didnt bother to keep going. this is the most relaxing way for me!

I couldn’t agree more, I was sitting there for about 2 hours getting through he floors and half way through I got a message saying my tickets are now full that’s how long I was going for and it can be very boring, I know you can quit at any time but you don’t want to because you want the most out of your tickets

This event is designed based on how strong mons pool formation,
If you only have weak mons, just stay at your weak floor.
Lol

Agree the grind is a drag but well… You can’t really do it in a different way. I just make it a challenge how to get through as fast as possible in the most relaxing way. First I setup nightrider his desperate all. Then I set up two desperate doublers or one their desperate double - in case I only get up one I use a frontline twinkiller & DD and nightrider plus a team turner. This gets me through all floors relatively fast without it being too much of a drag.

It’s not so much the fact that it’s possible so much as it just isn’t fun to grind through it.
Pretty sure games should be fun.
