Discussions, Revelations, and Fair Treatment

Over the past near year that I have been a part of this forum, I have seen an amazing array of discussions, revelations, and fair treatment. I started this game again in September last year, getting back into it after a long hiatus just in time for the Anniversary and Hallowern Festival Eggs. I was blessed with some legitimately incredible luck in my egg pulls and acquired some very excellent monsters, including the top tier Angelion at the time and Leogeist from the eggs.

I would grind and play and use previous knowledge to accelerate my progress through the story and online events with superior team building and tact. I was quickly accepted here and heralded with good natured comments and help being viewed as a “F2P” player. At this point I had not spent anything on this game, so I welcomed the accolades. At a point, a deal for double gems came up, and I wanted to jump at the opportunity, but immediately felt a sense of disheartenmeant due to the instigating and hateful comments I had read on this forum towards players that support the game by purchasing gems, what you folks designate as “P2W”.

I ended up disregarding this thought and made my first purchase. The double gems worked out fantastically, and i didnt even use them all, i decided to save some for the next festival. Christmas came around and i saw a double gem deal again. At this time i decided against making the purchase as i had been able to still have some respect on this forum as a player since i had only made a single purchase, so I wasnt really a “P2W” at that point, and I found myself not wanting to be. Using eggs I had saved and login bonuses during christmas, I rolled and rolled and got some good monsters, but nowhere near what I had before.

A couple months later, easter rolls around with another festival and gem deal. I decided against it again and joined a clan on this forum (which I will not name as this is not a post meant to bash or call out anyone) and as I posted my amazing egg rolls, I was met with hate and disgust and criticized for being “P2W” and that eggs rolled with purchased gems mean nothing because they were not “earned.”

This greatly upset me, and I ended up leaving said clan because, as I said above, at that point I had made one purchase. And then I figured, to hell with it, people wanna hate, let them hate. So I purchased the double gem deal. Rolled some fantastic monsters.

Since then there have been ups and downs with my rolls, many more ups than downs and I, along with some other members of this forum, created a new clan for “lucky” players with their egg hatches. I see the utter hatred and mean spirited comments made towards players who openly admit to paying money into this game along with similar comments or just complete disregard and exclusion of newer players who openly speak about the fact that they put money into this game.

This brings me to the entire point of this thread: I am DISGUSTED with the behavior I see here. The utter hatred and exclusion and degradation of players, new and old, that support a game they play because they enjoy it? People are angry, and for what? Because someone who works 40-50 plus hours a week decides to spend some of their hard earned paycheck on something they enjoy? Can you earn money by playing Neo Monsters? I’m pretty sure you cant. This game is a hobby, and no matter who the hell you are or what you do for fun or how many corners you try to cut, every single hobby costs money. You want to play a board game inside with your friends? Someone paid for the game, and someone is paying the bill for the electricity so you can see. Oh you are playing outside at the park maybe? Someone paid the gas in the vehicle and the car payment to get you there, and someone is paying the taxes for that community park to stay open and supported.

People should NOT be made to feel bad by supporting their hobby. There is nothing for any of you to get upset about. You are not getting cheated out of winning any money by losing to a “P2W” player. I’m tired of that moniker. Its “Pay 2 Play”, not “Pay 2 Win.” We all have the exact same odds at rolling good monsters, whether you roll 100 eggs or 5 eggs. The odds don’t get any better by how many eggs you roll. Everyone needs to stop their complaining and hatred and give it a damn rest. This forum is for a collaborative feeling on love for this game.

Let’s make it that way.

If this thread doesn’t get locked or start a huge argument I’ll drop forty gems on the normal egg

KD before you lock this I really think it should be read by people. I’m not being hateful or argumentative, I’m generally asking for people to stop behaving in the disgusting manner they have been.

The game is becoming P2W. Players like yourself are not P2W players. You’re just spenders. P2W players will be the Whales. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have any skills. One of the best players is @Josuinho even though his account is P2W it doesn’t mean he has any less skills than other players.

We can all work on talking to each other with respect. I’ll be more careful. The only issue I got is when big spenders ask for nerfs to legends because f2p beat them. That really isn’t fair.
(Edit: to be clear it’s infuriating when players with everything at their disposal don’t bother putting in more thought to their team building and prefer to ask for nerfs because they got beat and can’t be bothered or don’t try countering)

I love the Whales of this game and thank them for their service. Had it not been for them I won’t be able to play. They are subsidising my gameplay.

I don’t think anybody tells people off simply because they are Whales? That will be stupid. To be honest I’ve had my most heated debates/arguments against f2p players lol

There is definitely some hate towards paying players from disgruntled free players. However, from what I’ve seen it is only directed towards paying players who make themselves a target by doing one of the following:

  • Opening multiple threads asking for help with team building, what to evolve, etc. and clearly showing in screenshots they’ve got a lot of monsters they’ve bought but aren’t putting any effort into working out what to do themselves.
  • Continually post about new monsters they’ve hatched to show them off.
  • Pretend to be free players (lying is the main thing here).
  • Asking for things to get nerfed that are frequently used by free players to gain success, in a derogatory way like calling the strategy “cheap” or equivalent (whether you’re a paying player or not, saying this will make people dislike you but it’s worse if you’re a spender).
  • Making various statements like “you’re a free player so you have no say in this” or “legendaries don’t deserve to be this powerful, only mythics”, etc.

As a moderator of this forum I feel obligated to defend paying players and to crack down on any hate towards them. However, I do not step in the way much if they’re bringing it on themselves with one of the above. Common sense says not to do those things.

@DMG_LUCKDRAGON If I’m not mistaken you pretended you were a free player for a while after you started spending, meanwhile posting an enormous number of screenshots of each of your new legendaries (you were posting multiple times a week with them). That’s two of the above. I’m very sorry to hear about what response you received in your clan but you cannot expect to just go around saying whatever you like and not have people either take a dislike to you or to get wound up by some of those things.

P.S. I have no wish to lock this.

Btw I would happily be a spender if I felt the benefits for spending were good enough for me. I have great respect for spenders and think there’s absolutely no reason for anyone to feel ashamed if they have an entertainment budget.

If people attack spenders without any prompting they deserve to be shut up by a moderator. Similarly, spenders should never talk down to free players or be rude to them. Mutual respect is what’s needed… which is common sense after all.

Very good post Killerdog. Agree with it. Not with all the reasons given - example I don’t think it’s good to get angry because of the posting screenshots of good hatches point. but it’s a reality that it does tick others off

Oh I definitely did start posting more and more after leaving that clan as I started spending at that point as opposed to the time I had spent before, which I never denied but brought up frequently saying that I was “basically F2P except for that time I spent” lol.

That being said, I do agree with what you are saying and appreciate that you are not locking this thread yet.

Yeah it’s the “in your face” aspect of it that winds people up. There are plenty of people here who are too young to be spending on the game or otherwise feel bad when they see someone getting luck / spending to get stuff. These people will generally just feel sorry for themselves without posting most of the time, but when a particular person is posting about all their hatches they begin to grow a grudge.

For example, if I was always posting about my collection and huge success as a free player then I’m sure I’d breed a huge collection of haters here on the forum. Instead I try to conduct myself politely and it’s mainly just my moderating that gets me some hate from people. It’s not that I’m hiding my success or my collection, I just don’t brag about it.

Ugh such a worthless F2P player you are :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Don’t make a bet you aren’t willing to uphold!

Yeah but posting hatches is what that thread is for, and it’s something to be proud of when you get a good hatch/hatches. Makes you feel proud and excited to show off something brand new, that’s just being human.

Ok how about this I won’t use cani aoe until ranked pvp starts even including friendly pvp battles.

Yes, but you can’t be too naive about it. Whatever you say/do will be read and people will gain a perspective of you with regards to it.

Not a perfect analogy but I don’t go proud announcing my gaming success to random real life friends of mine who don’t even know NM exists. Those people simply won’t care and if I keep trying to talk about my games to them they’ll get bored and annoyed. Similarly, you’ve got to think about how the audience to your posts will react to them.

I know that’s really tough for you. I accept this as a compromise. I hope you will manage to get through this next week without breaking down and sobbing

@DMG_LUCKDRAGON bro the people hating on P2P players are just jealous stop sugar coating it. Few people in the world will celebrate your successes most will hate.

Don’t worry about other people’s opinions. the strategy is always based on the monsters you own. Finding the best answer of your monsters is great.
