Sorry to hear that. We understand it can be frustrating. However, this is a typical experience in gacha-based games.
The odds of hatching a Mythic have never changed since the game’s release. It has always been 1% for Mythics and 0.75% for the featured Mythic.
What we have been doing over time is making it easier and faster for players to obtain gems compared to before.
I throw 700 gems until 0 in tenguko sadly +6 haha sure in the future I could awaken she 
A few friends pulled on the Alyce banner with over 2500 gems and ended up with less than 100, but they managed to wake up. Now the challenge is to get their account back up to 500 gems. Honestly, this game isn’t for me.

Invest in Valentine’s eggs, they’re great for PvE: Nepty, Tengoku, Risu, Selene.

I am sorry but I am not getting your point, there are 6 eggs to roll with good mythics featuresd, is your brother supposed to have 20 mythic or something by now, what is the point of this? There are videos on YouTube in regards to mythics, what is good and what is not, there is the forums as well with loads of beginners guides, he can ask and many will answer giving him help, 2400 gems in less than half a year is really good.
I played this game soon after it came out, getting 2400 gems without paying would have taken me years to gather

He can basically roll for tengoku, even in its 2nd form, it can copy 3 different enemies at half health, he can wait for Daji to show up in eggs again, and roll for her, unlimited number of copies when used well, there is Nypth in eggs too, a great mythic even in its 2nd form, so that will also not take many gems to get
Selene is also available, a very good sweeper in pve, it will help him a lot and it is functional in the 2nd form, he can get all these in 300 gems if he is lucky, even less or more, in 2nd form obviously

Still one of those that can do a solo sweep against a full team. Keep the Plume at 6 cost. As effective as awakened one.

I’m a few days late posting here but what VKC said here is better advice than everything else said (in my opinion).
Don’t try to awaken one or two mythics right from the start. You’re investing too many gems in too little, leaving too much to chance (4x 0.75%) and if you regret your choice of mythic later then you’ve wasted a lot of precious gems.
What I recommend is finding out which mythics are strong AND good in second form. Make a list of those ones then hatch a single copy of them, only when they’re featured alongside a legendary that is also high tier and that you believe would be useful if you got it. After you’ve built a collection of 5-10 second form mythics that are strong and hopefully 5-10 strong legendaries you can begin saving for awakening particular mythics.
Writing this inspired me to go update the guide I’ve got written for all this. I highly recommend going to give it a read. I added extra sections, updated it for the current situation of the game and made it much better and clearer:
