I just replied to your message about this. The consolation prizes are gone, they were only in the original version of the Showdown Tower.
We now have more gems from completing floors and we’ve got win streak rewards.
It’s a net loss of 6 gems and 1 legend potion. Do note however that you only need to get your streak to 60 in order to get all available gems. And you’re free to avoid trainers and much as you want, although around the midpoint of the event they’re arguably easier than the normal battles, since the the normal ones are now drawn from pvp teams, which are far better at messing you up.
