Been reminiscing a lot about the years I’ve spent with this game, and all the hijinks that went on over the years… and it’s occurred to me that there’s so much history to this game, with how the meta evolved and how all the events and features came to be, that everyone who’s relatively newer to this game never got to experience. It really seems a shame to let all of those collective memories fade into time. For example, how many people remember when the meta was broken by Chronozeros of all things? (yes, really)
So, I had the idea of creating a little “history book” thread of sorts, where I put together a succinct summary of all the major events and details of the game’s progression! Things like monster balance history, snapshots of tier lists and meta strategies over time, discontinued events, community memes, etc… just as a little compendium about everything that’s gone down and how far the game has come! I’ve already scoured through lots of forum posts from way back in 2015-16, and the memories are really flooding back haha. Trying to piece together a rough timeline based on my memory and what little context I can scrape from those posts; if there happens to be enough interest in this idea, it’d be really awesome for other veteran players, or even devs to help out with filling in gaps and really setting the stage for the old-school neo monsters experience lol
Even if I’m through with playing the game regularly, I’d still love to take this opportunity to try and channel this long-lost passion into something others can partake in too. With how much fun this game has given me over the years, it just feels like the right thing to try and preserve that legacy, and those memories with it.
I just really wish all those exchanges on the Line group could’ve been archived, because it truly would’ve been a RIOT to look through all of that again. Really miss ya Supah Vegetto and IamSu, we had some good times lmao
