Let's talk about capitalism

Politics, religion, adult-related discussions and football are no-go topics in anything like this I’d say. It’s meant to be a neutral space for game discussion

Ah makes sense. Just wanted to check. Cheers.

And I still want to know that duck is smoked to say so much nonsense:'v XD

Capitalism is nuts…
It has happened in America, and now going on in India. The governments have joined hands with corporates to turn the perfect competition markets into oligopolies.
It will affect every single middle class and poor person when a single non governmental institution controls the market.

I’m confused… you call them “perfect competition markets” as they currently are, which is what capitalism is basically about. The government supporting individual big businesses sounds closer to socialism.

“oligopolies… a single…”, which one are you saying here? A monopoly or an oligopoly?

HOW HAS THIS THREAD NOT BEEN LOCKED YET?!

Not really, let me explain the economic difference.

Socialism… is when government does stuff. The more stuff the government does, the more socialister it gets.

Capitalism, on the other hand, is when the product costs moners to buy. The more moners the products costs, the more capitalister the society is.

Thats Not capitalism in a Sense of liberalism. Thats crony capitalism which got Nothing to do with the original concept of free markets as a part of the concept of liberalism

In a Monopoly, only a single institution may be the supplier of a needed commodity. While in Oligopoly, the market would be controlled by a single institution or group of people, thus eliminating perfect competitive (whatever you call it in Britain), this is Capitalism carried to an extreme.

Governments supporting individual business is different then government controlling the same business, the rich institutions control the government in many poor countries and mid income countries where the state earns money for sure (even if with corruption), looses industrial control.

An oligopoly is 2 or more firms dominating an industry, not a “single” institution (that’s a monopoly if ultimately they’re all controlled as one). I get what you’re saying, just the use of “single” and “oligopoly” together doesn’t fit if I’m being picky.

@ArcticTheHunter Stop being bitter about your threads being closed and others not. This thread was created to get political discussion out of another thread. As long as it doesn’t go off the rails or spam the forum then it won’t be closed. It’s actually great to hear other people’s viewpoints from around the world on topics like politics because it often opens your mind to ideas you’d rarely hear in your own country.

I am actually thinking about having a different place specially dedicated to discussing politics, insurgence, wars, truce, treaties, diplomatic relations, cultural values and regional history.

Did you know that Othlon has public healthcare, for monsters at least?

The only notable doctor in Othlon, Leigen, has been shown tending to monsters’ injuries and illnesses at least three times (the first time you meet him in the frozen island, then in a side quest and finally during the Dragon’s Roar story arc).
Despite that, he never received any compensation for his services, on the contrary he always refused payment.

This may be possible if doctors in Othlon are paid with taxpayer’s money, therefore their job belongs to the public sector.
We may even assume they are paid very well: after all, it is totally in the emperor’s best interest that all monsters are in their best shape, if you consider (mild spoilers) the reason why Atrahasis created the Othlon Championship. He needs healthy and powerful monsters to feast on, after all…

A. It’s loosely related to Neo Monsters (at least to the ultra-capitalist approach Zigzagame has chosen for this game, and many other studios such as EA often use). It’s also in the ‘general’ part, which is more acceptable than if it was in the ‘Neo Monsters Discussion’ part.

B. It is, but in a healthy way.

C. Nope. Even you have been involved in real ‘heated’ debates on this forum so you should know.

D. There isn’t a strict definition of time elapsed since last reply for a reply to be considered as ‘necroing’. I wouldn’t call this one necroing because it’s been only a few months. It would be different if it was years. Disclaimer: other mods might have a different view on this.
