Idea for new event

Hey guys!

So I we have been running the same events for awhile now and I thought I’d share one idea for a new event the devs could implement in the coming year. Disclaimer, this idea isn’t fully flushed out so and ideas, suggestions, improvements ect are welcome.

Basic idea I’m working with would be an event that starts you off on the first island from the offline campaign. Have the player pick one of the starting 4 monsters and work their way through the island fighting trainers that are placed about. Each player would start with a number of capture cards that replenish over time. Players would need to use those to attempt to capture mons to add to their team for the event. Devs could sneak legends and SE’s behind tough trainers or at the ends of replayable dungeons like in the campaign.

I also think trainers should be kicked back to town and forced to start the island over if they lose (keeping the already caught monsters) with checkpoints being given after each island.

Another option is to not have monsters heal until after each island to incorporate some of the dungeon challenges mechanics.

I know there is plenty of room for improvement and expansion on this idea. Please share any ideas or opinions you have!

Quite interesting, feels slightly harsh on difficulty. Maybe what you could do is have each checkpoint heal all your monsters slightly, and revive one monster at random or something.

Nice i like the idea of a new event which could be both challenging to new/experienced players.
Also which could also be added is:
Each completed island is ranked eg. A b c d. So A being the highest and D being the lowest. Rank could be based on how the trainer battling technique is. And each rank provides a reward in return.
So higher the rank, the greater the reward.

Yeah it may be a bit too hard that way. I would want this to be completable by anyone similar to island challenge. Main goal is to incorporate a bit of adventure into the event. I really like the story campaign walking around the islands looking for mons to capture. I think not using those assets for any events so far has been a missed opportunity for the devs. The events are most fun when there is more than just fight after fight. I think the dialogue for trainers, the capturing mons, the dungeon exploring, and just having secrets to find would really take this event above others in terms of general “fun”.

could put some boss trainers on the island. They could be avoidable to complete island and the base reward, but the more them you choose to defeat the higher your tier reward could be.

Yea it would be nice if they could create an event from this. Would actually be enjoyable to do. At the moment all the events just require you to kill a buffed monster.
Islands should also be big to explore not compared to the tiny ones at present.

I like it. Asked my self for a long time why there isnt an event that includes the islands. Its a waste of the mechanic, and we already need something new, so why this will.be a perfect solution i think

The spin I’d put on it would be to do away with the “no healing” mechanic or other difficult things like that. Instead I’d say that on each island you have to start over with your monsters. You get given a couple of good ones then get let loose to go exploring around the island and try to find the strongest monsters with unlimited capture cards. Every 10 or 20 battles won (wild battles count) you can evolve one monster in your team. The final battle on the island is a super tough one which you’ll need to gather a good team for and work out how to beat it. So what you’ll end up doing is exploring everywhere to get the best monsters you can. Then fight a load more wild battles and evolve them all fully before going to take on the final battle of the island and trying to beat it. Once you beat it you’ll progress to the next island and start over, exploring and collecting monsters to build your team.

Each island would be specifically designed to have some monsters which are good for beating the final battle. So the idea is to go out and find those monsters. But there would also be a few “wildcard” monsters in there which would be great to have in your team and to allow players some more flexibility.

That’s quite different to the original idea above but just throwing out another angle. I love the concept of exploring the islands and discovering what monsters are out there, I miss that. Also, having a event where difficulty is not governed by how buffed the monsters are would be refreshing. Team building with restricted monsters and the element of exploration was the core early-game in neo monsters which I think we can all agree we loved.

I like all those ideas, though I think the devs would want to incorporate some type of limiter. That’s why I said recharging capture cards, as they could include a mechanic to use tickets to refill them.

I really like this idea, would bring alot more fun to the game

Oh yes absolutely, I forgot how most events have a kind of limiter so you can’t do it all in one go.

Recharging capture cards could do it. We could then still spend our time exploring and looking for where good monsters are as well as evolving the ones we have.

Alternatively, we could have unlimited capture cards but the “boat out to the island” takes an entry ticket. We’d have 10 entries which restore once per hour and on the islands there’s nowhere to heal so we must return back after a bit. To change team we’d need to return as well but we could evolve our monsters while out on the island. This would mean that when we start on an island we’ll need to use lots of tickets going back and forth as we expand our team and get stronger but later on we will have a lot more freedom to roam and capture any more monsters we want before taking on the final battle.

I think I probably like the capture cards recharging idea better, but we’d need a fairly high limit on the number of capture cards if we’re going to be able to play the event for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. Especially because those high quality monsters are going to have a low capture chance. And that’s another thing… it would be annoying if you get unlucky with your capture rate and the capture cards are limited. Limiting entries to the islands might make more sense, even if it is worse, which is why I suggested it.
