I think I would vote for a redesign so it pushes back all enemies that are 50%+ speed and all teammates that are 40%+ speed.
That way it’s a punish for all fast monsters that sets up your low speed team but the opponent can specifically use 40-49% speed monsters as a counter. It also doesn’t punish opponents who have slow monsters. It would hopefully open up more options for Mortilys setups because it’s anything 40% or less rather than right now mostly just the lowest speed stuff you can find.
To be honest, this is a genius idea. As I mentioned in this post about why Mortilys exists, that’s why we’re more inclined to create new monsters using this brilliant suggestion to give more slow monsters a chance to shine.
If you do it, please also consider my suggestion of how it does 40%+ speed for the user but 50%+ for the opponent. Otherwise, because the pushback becomes guaranteed it means the Mortilys player can have monsters at, say, 35-39% speed that can take control of the battle and there’s almost no counter to it.
The penalty has to be higher for the user in some way because they’re already built around it perfectly. I think this will also encourage use of some of the lower speed monsters because it won’t encourage having 1-2 monsters at 35-39% speed for taking control (since this won’t be guaranteed to work). The saddest thing about any of these designs is if there becomes a very obvious way to play it. For example Nyx originally with Ldiefaeth and Canishogun with the high speed assisted hit all monsters on its release.
To be honest, this game mechanics are already one of the most powerful game mechanics in this game. I don’t want you to just imagine changing this mechanics out of thin air. It’s really foolish.
