I mean kd have killer in his name . My name roughly translates to unnecessarly cruel etc. But I didn’t gave much thought to it. I just tried to copy the theme most people follow. So it might be possible this kid (cancer) just put this name on a whim. Don’t give too much attention to it.

Let me be perfectly clear with what I’m saying. I lost someone close to me due to cancer.
Throughout my 3 or 4 year Neo career I’ve seen names like AP spam cancer etc etc. Never mentioned anything.
What’s actually wound me up here is that I have someone saying it shouldn’t upset me and it’s just as easy to brush it off. I don’t think that’s right.
As a straight white guy, I wouldn’t tell a black man how to feel about a racist comment, I wouldn’t tell a gay person how to feel about a homophobic comment and I wouldn’t tell a woman how to feel about a sexist comment. It’s not my place.
And it wasn’t his, to tell someone who lost someone to cancer how they should feel.
I have 0 respect for someone who can’t respect that.
Also, let’s not accept poor behaviour because it’s the internet. Let’s be better on this forum. If the kid is young, educate him.
Once more, yeah I can deal with the name, I just mentioned its a bit annoying. What I can’t deal with is someone telling me I should be ok with it.

Listen I don’t want to reopen the discussion because I agree with KD, but then what’s the problem?! If you find it “a bit annoying” that is brushing it off. What I was saying is that such a name isn’t worth making a scene, and that’s it. I think I’ve been pretty clear in saying that I’m not a huge fan of the name myself.
I just don’t get what was the point in pinging the devs then, but whatever. All well that ends well.
I can see you responded to just one small part of a much larger comment. I’ve already said everything I have to say.
Okay this is where I think things get muddled a little. The name “Cancer” is not a direct attack to anyone who is grieving, unlike a racist comment which is usually either an attack or a very bad misrepresentation of someone’s race. If the name was “Cancer targets the sinful” or words to that effect then yeah it’s like the racist comments but otherwise it’s someone having an almost phobic reaction to a word that in itself is not meant to be bad.
Now don’t get me wrong, I agree it’s unnecessary and can upset some people. However, on the scale it’s very low and defending your rights to having an emotional response to such a word can come off a bit like bigotry rather than moral.
I hope you don’t find this disrespectful. Personally I have lost many friends and two family members to cancer. One of my friends currently has brain cancer and has been surviving for ~3 years but he won’t make it to 2022. He’s currently age 27. I completely understand what the pain can be like.
P.S. Here’s a good analogy for you…
Let’s say I forget my ID and don’t get allowed into a club. I’m frustrated and say “Ugh, if only I was a girl. I bet I would’ve been allowed in”. With that I can imagine a girl might get annoyed and make a comment. Someone else might tell her not to take offence to it because it’s not a big deal and partially true. If that girl then argued to defend her right to get angry at a comment like that then I’d expect everyone to think she was being a bit ridiculous. It’s true that the comment is not a particularly nice one but it’s also something that most people would not perceive as a big deal.
